UPDATE on Updating this giveaway: I just updated my copy to v4.5.x and then checked the license: it's still showing the full remainder of the year as a valid license. So, it worked for me!

Glary installed great. Ran the program and now have lost the sound on my system. Tried things I know how to do, googled it, tried all that, no sound. I am bummed. I don't know if Glary was the cause, but seems strange I lost the sound on restart after running Glary. Hmmmm......

I used this program and it has a great feature....updates....it checks what programs need updates and finds the correct versions. I had been having problems with Adobe flash and it found the errors and I wad able to correct them for both IE and Firefox! Awesome. it also found registry errors that corrected my workstation boot.

I installed this yesterday but didn't have much time to play around with it. I came back to the site today and found comment #5 about the license and found that my installed version was indeed still showing "30 day trial" with 29 days left.

I followed the instruction in #5, but it made no diffence - it still shows "trial". That, combined with the fact that this is, at best, a year long trial, means I will NEVER buy Glary Utilities.

When will developers realise most of us work during the week? Even when we finish, by the time we get home, eat and spend some family time the amount of time left to examine software is extremely limited.
I often use trial versions and cut-down free versions and when I find software that works I buy it - because my time is worth more than the cost of the software. I'm not saying $40 is trivial, I'm saying the time it takes to find acceptable freeware is often so prolonged that it could affect the amount of time I have for quality stuff in my life.

This trend of GOTD to present programs that will need multiple licenses in the future is also very annoying. Why not "giveaway" Office 2013 - the principle is the same as Glary Utilities, use for a while and then we charge you in perpetuity!

So goodbye forever Glary Utilities - and GOTD...the clock is ticking and I fear that you are wasting more and more of my time recently.

#29 - After unzipping the downloaded files, be sure to read the readme file. There is a license/registration number in it that you will need to use. Copy that alphanumeric (letters & numbers) string down. Then, go to the license manager within the program itself and substitute the alphanumeric for the one that is already there and click "refresh". That worked for me, at least. Good luck.

BTW: Be sure to ALWAYS click "APPLY" when changing any of the 'settings'. Otherwise, the revert to previous settings.

UPDATE ANSWERs:
1.-- You can update this giveaway for the period of the license. In fact once you install today’s GOTD version [4.4] you can download and install the latest version [4.5.0.89]. The install will ask you to restart computer. Once computer reboots your Glary Utilities Pro will be version 4.5.0.89 ‘TRIAL VERSION’ with ‘366 days left’.
OR
2.--If you already have 4.4 installed you can ‘refresh’ the license with today’s readme file license code and it will extend the license to 366 days. [To ‘refresh’ license --click on the word “PRO” bottom right corner of main program window] That’s what I did because, I had gotten version 4.4 on Dec 25, 2013 when Glarysoft gave it away directly on their Giveaway website. I had 333 days left and once I refreshed the license with todays code it changed to ‘366’ days left. And then I install version 4.5.0.89. It accepted the GOAD license code and showed ‘366’ days left [after the reboot].

3. -- Answer to What happens at end of license period? : According to Glarysoft, it reverts to the ‘FREE’ version which can be downloaded anytime at Glarysoft website. [But keep your eyes open in Nov and Dec each year because the Pro version is frequently offered as a giveaway.]

4. –Stopping AUTO UPDATE Answer: You can prevent the program from downloading and installing updates by [step 1].--Going to ‘Settings’ in the ‘MENU’ on the upper right hand side of main screen. In the ‘General Settings’ uncheck the “automatically download updates…” and click ‘Apply’. (While in ‘General Settings’ you may want to uncheck other auto items.) [Step 2] Now click on the ‘Auto Care’ item [on the left hand side of the ‘Settings’ window] and ‘uncheck' the “Execute Web Update at a scheduled time” and check the “Check for updates when program starts”. You will have the irritation of the program always checking for updates whenever you open it, but it prevents it from automatically downloading and installing updates without your permission.

5.— Also, while in the ‘AUTO CARE’ screen I uncheck the “automatic 1-Click Maintenance” feature because I do not trust ANY program's ‘auto cleaning’ feature. But that’s a personal choice. Just wanted to point it out for those new to Glarysoft Util.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for pointing that out for us all. For a Free Product, I can understand software companies using that sorta tactic. Just as long as they properly notify you, prior to installation. Not that I agree, mind you.

However, being that this is a RETAIL PRODUCT THAT THEY SELL, that is Given Away for just today for -FREE... that's exactly how it should be delivered. FREE! No BS hidden extra's. Since, such tactics is/are a revenue stream for software companies to put such things into their software. Hence then, NOT FREE!!

No toolbar installed, no hijacking of any type. Did see the articles on toolbars installing. Maybe the stopped doing it because only the program installed and nothing else,

Made no changes to any of my browsers, nor added on any tool-bars. Registered easily. Rather than complain at the free year, I will use it and if in a year, GotD does not offer it again, I will continue to use the free version. The differences between the two are by no means deal-breakers: http://www.glarysoft.com/comparison.html

After playing around with it a bit tonight, I can see that it is going to be an incredibly useful program.

I'm trying to download todays GOTD, and I'm under impressed with the GOTD DOWNLOAD SPEED (or lack thereof.)

This snail download is only clocking about 28-50 KB/sec! I downloaded something else today that was hosted on Amazon S#, and it was clocking ocer 3MB/sec! Geesh guys, it's almost like being on dial-up again!

Like the Glary program, don't like the snail download speed!

I don't care what the program is, don't run anybody's "1-Click Maintenance". And don't run a registry tool unless you are trying to fix a specific problem. Good grief folks, use a little common sense.

Just a note about the version checker - like most checkers, it can't tell when you have a registered version of a program that is also available free. It will tell you to update the program, even though that may invalidate the "pro" features. Be careful with updates.

I would like to make a suggestion. GOTD and contributing Software Vendors need to end the confusion between the terms Update and Upgrade. Every day the same questions appear.

A Software Update is a fix to an obvious problem, a function or feature, of the program, that doesn't work properly, Virus Updates, or a fix to a security issue. These Updates are normal, and are required for proper functioning of the application, and should always be included at no charge, after a software install.

A Software Upgrade Installs a completely New Version of the Software, combining previous Updates, with new functionality and features. It is normally represented by a Higher Version Number than what is currently installed on your PC.

A Software Update should never terminate your License or use of the software.

Re; Auto-Update * * *

Hi To All,

Thanks to GAOTD and GlarySoft for the awesome software. I've been using Glary Utilities since it was first offered back in Jan 2012 (assumed), and never looked back. Always had the "Auto-Update" turned on and always informs me when there is an update available to download and install........
Current Version tells me it is the Professional Version at 4.4.0.86 and registered to: GiveAwayOfTheDay

Therefore I do believe leaving the registered name as above to keep the Pro version and Check Auto-Updates, on.

I have also looked in the app for a way to turn off the scheduled update. There is not a NEVER option; you just have to choose DAILY, WEEKLY or MONTHLY and either day of the week or of the month and the time. I should be able to turn OFF the scheduled update and it should allow me to manually check for the updates.

HOW DO I TURN SCHEDULED UPDATE OFF? (not autoupdate)

Don´t care about the version number. A One-Year-Subscription is included. This also should answer #48. You can leave auto update enabled. The license will expire automatically after ONE YEAR. All updates wihtin this period are included in the giveaway / license.

Been using it for a long time and have to say it's one of the best system utilities. There are some functions that you need to be careful before using and I would recommend that you are atleast an advance user before you you use any such utility.

Before you use it make sure you have made a backup of your important files and have created a system restore or a lot of people might find themselves in a bit of trouble.

Also make sure you have checked your system disk for errors (A quick check will do) or you might end up with corrupt system.

Is anyone else getting a NSIS error when clicking on the set up.exe? I have d/l 4 times on this computer with Windows 7 & also d/l from another computer. I have run CCleaner to clean up any remnants of the failed attempts tut each time I get an error window that says the installer integrity check failed, suggesting incomplete d/l or damaged media, to contact installers author.

Maybe I am lucky but I have never had any NSIS error on any computer in over 15 years so this is a real annomaly. I checked a reference which instructed to try changing the file name to something simple but that didn't work. The activating page comes up but the installer does not move forward - it just stops dead with the error window.

Help appreciated

Let me tell you something…. and hear me now, if you do not take advantage of this offer you are doing yourself a disservice!!! Last week I don’t know how or where I downloaded something that gave me the “sweet packs” and “white smoke” spyware..highjackers…all I know is they suck and they need to be prosecuted when they are found!!!! They take over your browsers and you have to go to the trouble of removing them everytime you boot up. I have tried alot of things, did my google, bing research and everyone wants to charge you to help you!!! This was a pain, I mean a pain in my Ass for days trying to figure out how to get their s#@t out of my system. This is a very safe program and it not only speeds up your computer it got rid of all the crap!! I use Ccleaner and Eusing Registry Cleaner ( I swear by these products). I use AVG anti-spyware... love it too.... but it took this program to free me from the scumbags that invaded my computer and my piece of mind!!!! Try this, really, you won't be sorry....Just read the txt.readme file and you won't have a bit of problems,,, can you read? Then you wont have a problem with the registration key!! :) :) :) Trust me!!!!!!!!!!

Good Program works well and very user friendly. The 1-Click repair is something that is good for all users, unlike other Cleaners. I have been using a GREAT program for years and ran my Cleaner Program after running Glary Utilities just to see if anything was missed. I must say that Glary was very effective and only missed a few errors. Thanks Glary I will be using this often.

BEWARE, changes all of your BROWSER settings, adds in their search engine, removes your addons, etc.!
See #24, #30 & #44, then look at Glary Browser Toolbar FAQ (http://www.glarysoft.com/support/faq/#gtuninstall).

From LifeHacker comment:
"It is "free" but you get this as well: http://botcrawl.com/how-to-remove-the-glarysoft-redirection-virus-and-uninstall-the-isearch-glarysoft-com-browser-hijacker/

#34 I use the free version with a SSD with no problems I have Tracks Eraser and Spyware Remover un-checked
Tracks Eraser will remove cookies you might want to speed up logging on to sites.
Spyware Remover has never found anything so I don't bother running it.
The startup manager is great for delaying the start of programs you don't really need at the start of your day.
Recovering deleted files has not been that successful in the past with this program but there are other programs for this.
I clean up my computer with CCleaner,Glary Utilities, and Revo Un-installer's junk file cleaner.
No problems with any of the above on a Windows Vista 32bit system with a SSD.

Used Glary Utilities last year and my computer was completely messed up. Even a restoration won't clean it up. I needed a new PC so i did not care, but careful with these 1 click things. Most of them are doing more harm than good. If it's not broken why try to fix it ?....Only CCleaner is harmless so far.

Can anyone confirm if today's offer does, in fact, install a browser hijacker virus that replaces your homepage with a different one, installs a new search engine and sets it to default, and installs an unwanted toolbar?

This reminds me of exactly how the 'conduit' browser hijacker works.

I've downloaded today's giveaway, but not sure if it included the browser hijacker or not.

Any confirmation, one way or the other, would be appreciated!

Program installed OK. Copied the key to paste at the registration moment, proved to be not needed. Automatically selfregistrated after the manage licence and activation key used. Surprisingly, after that ( mean time used my own name to register - activate ), the activation expiration says : naver.
Is there something wrong?

Thanks Glarysoft and GAOTD,

I've heard positive comments on this software.

Still going thru the options so no opinion yet. However I do find it difficult to read as font size is very small. Older folks and other visual impaired users may have a very difficult time navigating due to the extremely small font size.

I've looked on the help which brings up a web page, I've also looked on the forums of which I've searched by page, you can't search by "font" or "size" or "font size" as the search states it's a common word so find another word to search for.

Where can I change font size?

Thank you.

never cared for glary
this does nothing to change my opinion
don't feel there is really anything worthwhile in the package
a bunch of nicknack utilities that have no real value (at least to me)

of the bunch, the empty folder finder & the duplicate file finders would be of most interest

EFF may be OK

DFF is zippedy quick, but does NOT search on content; only name, date, size... so while you can surmise that what it finds are dups, there is no way (here) to know for sure

comparison between free & Pro:
http://www.glarysoft.com/comparison.html
doubt anyone would find an advantage requiring Pro

After I uninstalled this offering [right after I posted] using Glary's uninstall, it recommended reboot, which I did. BSOD!! I01_INITIALIZATION_FAILURE

Would not boot into safemode. Thankfully I had another bootable hard drive and I found some recent registry backups [thankyou ERUNT!]

Glary will install extras without asking your permission. It will change your search engine and install a toolbar and collect information about your browsing habits. If you don't mind this then the Glary suite of tools is actually good. So is Win Utilities, and Wise Care 365, and the trusted reliable CCleaner. None of these install add-ons without your permission. Not saying Glary is bad, but installing add-ons and changing your search engine without permission is a dirty trick.

Expiration date NEVER.. but after a few months..all words turned into numbers..(weird)..still works but unreadable to use.

instead of downloading todays giveaway..i clicked on update when the program started.

it updated to version 4.5.0.89
everything looks good so far..so we will see.

still pro edition and still forever license..

Thanx Glary and GAOTD as always, for great products.
