I got spam to the address I use for GOTD. This is the only place that I have given this address. Has anyone else gotten spam from their GOTD account?

not unless you count ashampoo. check the headers, there have been a few leaks, but nobody's followed up directly..
OTOH, there are a very few (usually pointed out in comments and disposamail addresses suggested) vendors that are less than careful of keeping registration emails private. my most common problem is bouncemail from somebody spamming others with my domain. aargh.

I suppose it could have been Ashampoo, I don't know. The emails appear to come from a WindowsLive account so there is no way to tell where they really are from. They are very good at it. The first IP address shows up as not registered in a search but appears to be from Venezuela. The second starts with 10 which is private. The third is a Hotmail one.

That is essentially what I did which is how I found out it is Venezuela. The name I am sure is an alias. It looks like a legitimate ad for Adobe.

Sorry to hear about this spam issue. Do you use that email when a certain giveaway requires registration. If you are able to track down where exactly it came from GOTD could get in touch with the software owner and figure out what is going on. Sadly though, the odds of tracking down the source are pretty slim. If this truly is the only place you use that address I am sorry for your troubles. I assure you GOTD does not give out users email addresses to anyone and while GOTD scans giveaways and talks with companies offering their software in advance there is no way to be 100% certain they won't do anything they shouldn't. Thank you for joining the forums though and know that there are admin, mods, and a friendly bunch of other members here ready to help anyway they can.
Regards, Chip
