Brilliant game. I bough this on a deal some time ago, but this is an amazing deal. May as well say it's free. :)

You can also get bioshock for $1.99:
Check Bioshock out HERE. you will have to type in your age before you can proceed to the info page
and Tinker for free:
Achievement junkies rejoice! Games on Demand for Windows Live has finally made its debut. In an attempt to oust Steam as the king of PC digital downloads, Games on Demand is offering a ton of new blockbuster hits, and one oddly free previously released (on Vista Ultimate editions of Windows) puzzle game: Tinker.
Tinker very much dons a minimalist approach, and has a visual style that is strikingly similar to one of your grandparents dusty old board games.
The object of the game is simple: move your robot through a series of obstacles to a spinning disc goal at the end. As you progress, the disc gets harder and harder to reach, and new mechanics, such as colored switches and elevators, are introduced. If I had to compare it to something, imagine The Incredible Machine mixed with Q*bert. If you’re curious as to how the game operates, feel free to check out the expansive online FAQ.The premise makes the game seem relatively simple, but the huge catch is every form of movement like walking, grabbing, or even turning, takes one “battery charge”, forcing you to think out your actions before being too hasty. Casual puzzle-goers will be excited to know that Tinker includes a very robust and welcoming tutorial mode (solutions are even given), so nearly everyone will be able to learn the ropes. Hardcore puzzle-nuts will also love the later level sets, as they’re borderline
impossible. You can check out tinker [url=http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-CA/Games/Tinker/]HERE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You do need a Microsoft Live account (Games for windows) which is free. during the purchase process you'll also need to sign up for XBox live, but you don't need an XBox. It's straigtforwards and only takes a few moments to complete.
You can get a live account by creating a hotmail account. For the measly price of 10 pence (or 10 cents) it's worth the hassle.

You may also want to check out Game Room. I think it's kind of like the Namco Museum Collection games in that you walk around and play old arcade games such as galaga and pac-man. There are 11 Free game packs to download, but they don't tell you what games are included so you'll just have to download and try them out.

Does anyone have any ideas as to where I find the registration code for Age of empires III. I cannot see how Games for windows live will ever replace Steam when there appears to be no way of recovering a rgistration code
At least the free game didn't need a reg code. For free it's okay. Well worth downloading.

I saw your message about this on the Game Giveaway thread WR, lol. Great find Devildog, thanks for posting. :)
I'm wondering if Age of Empires (released in 2005) will play on Win7. There was no reference to specific systems on that or the Bioshock (2007) page; while the Game Room download is referenced for systems from XP to W7. It's a little strange that they don't list the requirements with each game.
Bioshock is currently $19.99 on Steam and it seems they don't sell AofE III.

Thanks for the find Devildog!!! Downloading now!!!! WOOHOOO!! Love this game.

Tailteann, these will definitely work on Win7. In fact, I haven't found anything yet in my extensive collection that won't work (using compatibility or DosBox for some).
I had a boxed version of AoE3, but didn't ever get the expansions. So I got this for the expansions and for the access to a download version.

Yay, thanks Campy. I've had Bioshock on my list for quite some time now and these both are such great deals.

Man, I really, really have been avoiding getting a "Windows Live" account. Now, I may have to just break down and get one.
Questions...In the Game Room..do you have to play on line? I have a bandwidth cap.....so this plays heavy as to what I do/download/play.
If they have the Microsoft pinball game(think it was called Haunted House", let me know. I will be setting it up pronto.
Plus getting AOE and BioShock........... The things I do....for games..LOL

I thought I would grab a couple of games and signed up to a new XBOX live account, paid for items and d/loaded the game installers. Had a message to install an m$ hotfix before the main files could be installed.
Trouble is the hotfix KB938759 when installing crashes the pc and reboots it every time before it has finished. Can't install from safe mode either, so can't continue with the installs. OK so all I spent was 10p and I'm glad it wasn't more, but this has given me grief for a few hours now trying to work round it.
This is on XPPro +SP3, any ideas ??
Cheers.

As per Stephen's question, Games for Windows downloaded a game manager on mine and it includes all the games I have "purchased" through them along with the codes. You may want to check into that. You should be able to find it in the start menu under Microsoft's Games for Windows Marketplace.
To Delenn, I'm not sure about having to have an active internet connection while playing, but I would guess no. I wouldn't count on the pinball game being present either as it appears most of the games are from retro systems like the atari.
And for TailTeann, you'll notice that Bioshock 2 is only 9.99 this week, which probably ends in a few hours. That's a good price as well.

Thanks Wizz! I broke down and got AOE and Tinker. Haven't even set them up yet. The jury is still out on this. Can't believe they don't offer Paypal as an buying option. Not to mention I had to use IE(which is not safe) to buy them. Not being able to use other browsers just shows their mentality. If they want to be a viable competition for other game sites..they need to step up their own game.
Wrascally Wabbit, I found this on the forum...Due to the overwhelming success of the Age of Empires III sale, we have temporarily run out of keys to unlock the game. You can still buy the game at this amazing price and you will get/see a key in the next week. When new keys are added to the system you will be auto-assigned a key, there is no need to call support or take any other action from your end. We will post here on the forums when the keys are available and the next time you click 'View Game Keys' for the game you should be assigned one.
Thank you for your patience and we hope you enjoy the game.

As at 17.30 22nd Nov, Age of Empires III at games for Windows is being flagged as "price has changed since adding to cart" and refusing purchase.
Hope this is only temporary!

It was over last night at 10pm est..I think..Not sure about the time, but I know it is over. I read it in the forums. Sorry, Chazzo.
So is the BioShock one. I messed around and missed that one. :(

Yes the superb deals are over, but they have got Bioshock2 for half price (£7.49) this week if that's of any use delenn13
I purchased AoE using Firefox 3.6 btw - didn't need IE at all
Posted 12 years ago # -
-Bioshock 2 for £7.49, thats a steal. (I can't wait for bioshock 3). The taster vids and images look awesome (may post some images later). I managed to find my key Delenn. You had to click on the stylized DVD icon next to the name of the game. that opened up a drop down menu where I found the key. (Thanks to Craggle for helping me with that).
I can't remember where I read the following, but it seems that Games for Windows is making a cooncerted effort to win customers over from Steam. So we may see loads more bargains in the coming monnths. Personally I don't particularily like Games for windows live, but when they sell games for 10 pence, well, I'd be a fool to turn my nose up at such a deal, especially when it's a game I like. :)
The puzzle game Tinker is quite decent and well worth downloading. Graphically it looks marvellous, but most of it is just for show.

Wow AofE II has gone up to nearly $40. I nearly left ordering it till today. Thankfully I decided to order as soon as I saw the post as I didn't want to miss it. I actually though I had a hard copy, but I was mistaken. I was going to purchase it some time ago, but decided to purchase Empire Earth III instead. I only had the original Age of Empires, which I gave away to a friend when I purchased more recent r.t.s. titles.

'Kind' of Microsoft to leave it 'posted' at 10p for many hours after they had actually stopped the offer. Then MS wonder why people use other sources ;)

Here's the vids and images of Bioshock 3 as promised:
Set in 1912, BioShock Infinite introduces an entirely new narrative experience that lifts players out of the familiar confines of Rapture and rockets them to Columbia, an immense city in the sky. BioShock Infinite is currently planned for release during calendar 2012.
Originally conceived as a floating symbol of American ideals at a time when the United States was emerging as a world power, Columbia is dispatched to distant shores with great fanfare by a captivated public. What begins as a brand new endeavor of hope turns drastically wrong as the city soon disappears into the clouds to whereabouts unknown.
The player assumes the role of former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, sent to the lost city to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman imprisoned there since childhood. He develops a relationship with Elizabeth, augmenting his abilities with hers so the pair may escape from a city that is literally falling from the sky. DeWitt must learn to fight foes in high-speed Sky-Line battles, engage in combat both indoors and amongst the clouds, and harness the power of dozens of new weapons and abilities.
Uncle Sam just about to jump onto one of the overhead travel rails, works something like a zip line.
“We are excited to expand the world of BioShock, which is one of the industry’s most critically acclaimed and beloved franchises,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “We believe that Irrational Games will lend their meticulous attention to detail and unique storytelling expertise to make BioShock Infinite an incredible entertainment experience that will immerse new and diehard fans of BioShock alike.”
With the original BioShock, Irrational Games won “Game of the Year” awards from Game Informer, IGN, G4’s X-Play, and BAFTA and redefined what players expect from a first-person shooter. “But when it came to begin work on BioShock Infinite,” said Ken Levine, creative director of Irrational Games, “we only had one rule: No sacred cows. This game is both true to what people love about the series and unafraid to question every assumption.”
City Skyline
Levine continued, “In order to explore the floating city of Columbia, we needed an entirely new engine. To bring Elizabeth to life, we had to build brand-new animation and AI systems. To create wide-ranging indoor and outdoor firefights at 30,000 feet, we had to rethink, rebuild and expand the BioShock arsenal. The only thing gamers can be certain of is this: the rules of the BioShock universe are about to change.”
Floating City
BioShock Infinite is in development for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Games for Windows®, and is not yet rated by the ESRB.

Age of Empires III is no longer on sale for 10c. It's now $40. However Tinker, the good looking puzzle game, which was originally packaged with the better versions of vista for free is now freely available to all. you do need a windows live account and have to sign up for the XBox live club. No you don't need an XBox. For those of you with games like The Warhammer Series, Red Faction Guerilla, Fuel, and many other games, you'll probably already have a Windows live account, but if you don't, don't worry, it's free. You can see details of the free game above. Just follw the first link above then click on games. You need to find the link forall games or use the search engine to find Tinker. I think I've linked to Tinker in one of my posts above (can't rememeber exactly); howerver, it would be a good idea to actually create your Windows Live and XBox accounts first.

Well as posted above I set up a Live account to get AOE 3 and did get so far but after a lot of reading on the various forums about the problems that I had, I see a lot of others have had the same one too. Despite following the different so called fixes, I can still not actually connect to download the games I wanted. I did get the first initial installer files but it will go no further.
So I'm so pleased that I didn't order multiple titles as it would be a real waste of my limited funds. So I'm just going to give up trying to complete my purchases and wish I hadn't bothered in the first place.
Damn you M$.

Sorry to hear you had problems CC. I had no such problems thankfully and was able to install and play the games without much hassle apart from not being able to figure out where my registration code was. That was an oversight by me though.
With respect to the hotfix, maybe you require one of their many files before the hotfix will work? Have you contacted them about this? If they are to sucessfully compete with Steam they had better get their act together quickly.
I do hope you get the problem sorted out as the game (A0E III) is well worth playing, (as is the puzzle game) :)

If you got an actual game key you could try putting that code into Steam and see if it activates it there, depending on whether or not they're MS specific or just all-purpose CD keys.
Worth a shot, and it would certainly stick it to Microsoft if it worked :)
Posted 12 years ago # -
HaHa, that would be so funny. Some of my Steam games show up on my MS Games for windows account, so maybe you are right. :)
Posted 12 years ago # -
No it doesn't work. :(
Posted 12 years ago # -
Aww.. well it was worth a shot! I once bought Half Life: Blue Shift at a boot sale for 50p and plugged the code into Steam and it unlocked the entire Half Life 1 package, including a few games I'd never even heard of! Not bad for 50p!
Posted 12 years ago # -
That was cool. I bet you couldn't believe your luck. :)
