The giveaways I've seen til present have been full fledged versions. Today's Media Resizer is a trial version good for 15 days. That can be done from the website so how is this different?
Free vs trial versions?

You need to "activate" the giveaway (basically registers the "trial license" to a "full license" - this removes the 15 day limitation.
If you open the zip file download - rather than "install" the zip file - you should see 3 files.
Activate.exe
Setup.exe
Readme.txtSetup.exe will install the program - but it doesn't "register" it (ie. remove the 15 day limit)
You need to also run Activate.exe (first - close the Media Resizer program if running).
After running the Activate program you should see a webpage saying the program has been successfully "activated".
Now if you run Media Resizer you should be able to click the '?' icon in the top right and get a "Registred" screen like this.

Yes, I did the Activate. What threw me off was that in the process of installing, it said it was the trial version, so I didn't go any further. So, now I've done so, and checked the ? like you advised, and sure enough, it says I'm a registered user. Thanks.

Also if you feel "put off" by the "pro version only" features - have a look at the freeware at FastStone.org. In particular the FastStone ImageViewer 3.1 (I believe is more capable than even the $79 pro version of Media Viewer).

Thanks but my main interest was to see if the bulk resize kept the resolution intact (it doesn't). Many of the resizers (including this one) will save at 96px even tho the original is at 300px (or whatever). That's not acceptable. I'm helping to alpha test a program and we are comparing with features available in other programs like Irfanview and Exifer.

Of course it will say trial when you install.
When you have installed the program and closed it then activated and reopen the program it's registered.
I have checked the registry, I have seen it's entry and I also know where the serial is stored, I have seen it.
