Paragon Drive Copy 10 Personal Special Edition get free serial unavailable

When I visit the "get free serial" site, my web browser tells me "The page you are looking for is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.". Seems like a bummer that their website isn't working on their give away date.

So is anyone else experiencing this problem?
I guess a lot of people are hitting it, and they can't keep up?

I finally did get to the page where you enter your information, submitted it, and got the same unavailabe wording page (and now am getting a "IE cannot display the webpage" - as though their server is down)

In the meantime, I'll keep refreshing the page to see if it ever starts working. Just wasn't planning to spend a whole day trying to get the GOTD to work. :-P

I don't have (and don't want) a twitter account to contact their free technical support for gotd for today (how absurd!).

Maybe others without a twitter account will find this thread helpful?

Hi graylox.. I installed the proper file, etc., and when I opened the program it shows:
Paragon Drive Copy™, version 9.5, build 9409 (22.01.10 ) Personal
and then, under that in small print:
Paragon Drive Copy™, version 9.5, build 9409 (22.01.10 ) Personal

Components versions:

Paragon Base Services Library, version 1.1, build 9409 (22.01.10 )
hdm.dll, version 10.0, release 10, build 10809
biont.dll, version 10.0, release 10, build 10809
biont.sys, version 10.0, release 10, build 10809

That's not what is on my version.

Check if you accidentally installed the old msi install file.
If so, revo it, and start over with the set-up.

OK will follow your suggestion and use Revo to remove v9.5 and then we'll see what happens. I will report back.
UPDATE: Used Revo .. it uninstalled V9.5 and V9 and then this installation worked perfectly for v10. Also registration box popped up this time and they sent me an email with the registration number pretty quickly. Now all is well!

Nice that it worked.
I read that Kiwi wrote in # 23 we should uninstall the old versions.
Earlier versions could exist parallel but Paragon has changed that, now you have to uninstall the old version before the new is set up.

In better times I wanted to learn Yiddish, but the Hebrew alphabet made it rather complicated, and I had not enough time then.
But at least I have learnt to read a little bit Yiddish when transcribed into Latin characters.

(Oh-oh, I think we are terribly off topic now...)

ROFL .. when I was a teenager my mom used to write things in shorthand so my sister and I couldn't understand it. When I took shorthand in school, she started writing things in Hebrew! Never learned that, but do have a program now called Dagesh Pro which enables you to type in Hebrew, and there's online keyboards so you know which keys to hit, and have to remember to type things from right to left!

Back to Paragon.. all is well now and once again, I thank you for your help!! That V9.5 was driving me nuts! Or should I say meshugah?? LOL

Free Serial didn't work for me either for Paragon Drive Copy. Tried several time throughout the night. No luck.

A very frustrating day for me from 6am till 6pm trying to run "setup" in the downloaded folder - all I got was a red and white cross with "failed to connect. please try again later". I would love to of had this program..!!!!?????##@@&&*** Will it be made available again..???

Two days ago I downloaded the Paragon Drive Copy 10 Personal Special Edition AND HAD IT ACTIVATED but couldn't get in contact with Paragon to receive the keys :-(

During the installation I had to uninstall my previous version - as usual.
But I was short of time and couldn't wait for a response from Paragon and therefore had to abandon the installation - but I didn't delete the activated file.
Result: NO Paragon Drive Copy 10 at all !

So today - 2 days later - I did an installation atempt again AND IT WORKED !
I got the keys from Paragon TODAY :-)

Thanks Paragon - that's service !

From memory - Paragon changed their version numbering a while back. All of the "giveaway" or "promotional" versions had 0.5 subtracted from the version - which apparently made support (from their end) easier to tell the products apart.

So version 9.5 = the "free" version 10.0

Usually the main difference between the two is the boot CD/USB comes only with the free Linux image. The full retail version comes also with the Win PE (Windows Preinstallation Environment) which has to be licensed from Microsoft at an additional charge. This is why (I've been told), Paragon cannot give it away for free (and it is another reason for users to purchase the retail version)

Several of the Paragon products I have the free version - and purchased the retail version and as far as I can tell - the main difference between a v9.5 and a v10.0 is just the WinPE boot feature (and access to any updates and support).

BuBBy - many thanks for restating the way Paragon does its version numbering between its retail products and its giveaways. I remembered that there was a difference, but I couldn't remember what it was (aside from the lack of the WinPE boot feature). This ought to answer all those who ask, "What's the difference between X and X.5?" . . .

Anyone know what the difference is between Paragon Drive Copy and Acronis True Image?? Do both make 'clones' of the drive?

copmom - the short answer is 'yes' -- If you look at PDC, among its options is 'Copy.' And that is Paragon's definition of clone, which is what ATI does.

Paragon distinguishes between backup and copy at this link: http://kb.paragon-software.com/paragon/include/templ/object2.jsp?catId=2124&objId=2605&statId=1511866&foLang=en. And there's a pdf file link in that page that describes these definitions as well, which I found more helpful with its illustrations and table at the bottom.

Paragon’s definition of backup = image, and Paragon’s definition of copy = clone . . .

Thanks Suze.. so then, if I'm trying to clone my daughters old, old HP to install on the newer one we got her (after I get rid of Vista), I'd need to have Paragon or Acronis on her old machine to clone it to an external HD? Can't use Paragon since it was a giveaway and it's past the 24 hrs. to run set up on her machines. I do have the set up for Acronis. Wish I could just go directly from one machine to the other instead of an external HD and then to the newer machine. Don't have laplink to just connect the 2 machines together! Why is everything always so complicated?

Update.. things progressed fine, XP on the newer machine now, but, now the dang blasted monitor just went out. Time for a trip to Wal-Mart. Arggggh!

Hi copmom -- glad to hear that everything went well (except for the monitor!). I got my last monitor through TigerDirect.com, a site I highly recommend, not only for the choices, prices, and low shipping costs (if you're in the U.S.), but also for the comments that consumers post. Hi Suze, I have gotten things from Tiger Direct too. Saved me a trip to Wal-mart, friend had spare 17" flat screen she said I could have, so viola.. up and running once again!
