(While I am here though, is there any way I can convert you from Norton?)

Yes, it's ok....many times my "comodo internet security" program (or my Norton Internet Security Suite) will interfere (without justification) with the download process - so I just exit these firewall programs, retry the download/install, and it works. Voila!

Regardless of the rating of the developers site - through whatever means, it doesn't escape the fact that the software is always downloaded from GOTD controlled servers, and the downloads are virus checked and tested by GOTD prior to release.
There should be no requirement to visit or download anything from the developers site. You are free to do so, of course, but if you do that is your choice. GOTD do make assurances that they check the downloads prior to release.
If you choose to visit a site against the recommendations of a ratings system (WOT, McAfee, Nortons etc) please do learn to actually read the ratings details to determine how your activities on the site might be affected by the ratings.
Secondly comments and ratings are not updated in real-time. Check the dates that the files were checked or comments were left. Even comments that are 2 months old might no longer apply - read the comments and ratings and use your own judgement - and consider the likelyhood that the users leaving comments on the site might be even less knowledgeable than yourself.
Ratings are a guide (sometimes subjective) - not always 100% fact.
