Would enjoy learning the daily offerings not only for today but also for the upcoming week. This way I can set reminders on important software you are offering so that I don't miss it.
How about posting a calendar on the home page of software being offered for week

Ahh... Giveaway of the Day. It's always a surprise what you'd get everyday. If there was a calendar, that would defeat the purpose. I do remember that there was a calendar on the front page that you can click on to go to that day's posts, but I'm not sure if it's still there after the facelift.

Actually, "GiveAwayoftheDay" does not necessarily mean "Surprise GiveAwayoftheDay," so I am all in favor of having a calendar to advertise upcoming offerings. There's nothing wrong with that. That said, I'm flexible either way. It's all good.

Companies who utitlize this "deal of the day" kind of structure, don't advertise the coming deals for a reason....loss of traffic. If you already knew what was coming, you wouldn't come back until it was necessary. I'm all for leaving it the way it is. "If it aint broke, don't fix it."

Did you ask the developers if they would like an advance announcement?
I wanted to buy Womble because I thought that is that tool which I ever wanted. But before the purchase, I have a look into my GOTD calendar: Yippee! Lucky me - GOTD will give it to me for 0.00 €. No, purchase for me, no money for the company.
I don't think the developer would be as happy as I am.Though I don't download very often, I'm still excited about the surprise.

Thanks for the comment Buzz and Wizzard. I think the environment improves by posting a calendar. For example, if I look at today's offering and it appeals to me, I'll read the comments and (if favorable) download the software. That is a quality download. If I look at the offering and it has no appeal to me, there will not be a download and I will exit the site. Traffic actaully improves because if there was an item that did appeal to me in the future, I would never let that opportunity pass me by. Web people want quality hits not quantity hits.

Nice thought. Yes it would be nice to see the downloads for the week. but I agree I do like the Surprise

@mgrlog
I agree, people will want quality software, and the goal of GOTD is to giveaway quality software everyday. We all know that this doesn't happen, however, because there is quality software given away frequently, we keep the traffic, and we keep it every day. Secondly, it *is* part of their contract with the developers to not reveal anything earlier. (With the exception of 1 game they gave away, but they just gave hints then :P)Posted 14 years ago # -
@thenameipicked: Correction: it was actually a regular Giveaway, but for gaming. But yes, they only gave hints (two of them, I think).
I do like the hint thing. When there's something big, give a couple of hints and make everybody excited.

@GMMan: Correction (due to boredom): The first time it was on game.giveaway, but the second, it may have been on their main website. Not so sure on that :P
