   Wanted to post this ASAP after experiencing problems with my VirtualBox Win10 VMs... it's not something that effects real hardware, probably does not effect other brands of VM host software, and likely won't effect the majority of VirtualBox users. I've been running the same set of VMs for quite a while -- since before 64-bit Win7 V/Box VMs worked well, & have VMs that started life when Win10 1st entered Beta -- and my [limited] understanding is that this is a potential issue *only* if you've got old VMs like I have. The issue involves the setting: System -> Acceleration -> Paravirtualization Interface -- older versions of Win10 require that to be set to Legacy, while after the May 2024 update the latest Win10 versions require something else... Default works for me, but I haven't done testing yet & you may find one of the other choices works better. With that set to Legacy my updated Win10 VMs will not boot.

   In other notes, Microsoft fixed the VPN issue that some were having after April's update, and no, Microsoft has done nothing to stop Win10 from trying to install the BitLocker fix that writes to the Recovery Partition. That was a question I had after Microsoft gave up trying to fix issues with that update when/if the Recovery partition was too small or did not exist. [Boo / Hiss]

   Today is Microsoft's May 2024 Patch Tuesday, which includes security updates for 61 flaws and three actively exploited or publicly disclosed zero days.

   This Patch Tuesday only fixes one critical vulnerability, a Microsoft SharePoint Server Remote Code Execution Vulnerability.

   The number of bugs in each vulnerability category is listed below:

   17 Elevation of Privilege Vulnerabilities
   2 Security Feature Bypass Vulnerabilities
   27 Remote Code Execution Vulnerabilities
   7 Information Disclosure Vulnerabilities
   3 Denial of Service Vulnerabilities
   4 Spoofing Vulnerabilities

   The total count of 61 flaws does not include 2 Microsoft Edge flaws fixed on May 2nd and four fixed on May 10th...

   This month's Patch Tuesday fixes two actively exploited and one publicly disclosed zero-day vulnerabilities.

   If you're experiencing problems with your VirtualBox Windows 10 VMs after a recent update, you're not alone. This issue seems to particularly affect users with older Melbet registration. Here's a quick guide to resolving the problem:

   Key Points:
   Issue: Updated Windows 10 VMs failing to boot if the Paravirtualization Interface is set to "Legacy".
   Affected Users: Primarily those with VMs created during early versions of Windows 10.
   Solution: Change the Paravirtualization Interface setting from "Legacy" to another option (e.g., "Default").
   Steps to Resolve:
   Open VirtualBox Manager.
   Select the VM experiencing issues and click on Settings.
   Navigate to System > Acceleration.

   BitLocker Fix Issue: Microsoft continues to push the BitLocker fix that writes to the Recovery Partition. This can cause issues if the Recovery Partition is too small or absent. Unfortunately, there hasn't been a resolution from Microsoft regarding this particular problem.
   Recommendations:
   Regularly back up your VMs and keep snapshots before applying major updates.
   Stay informed about known issues with updates through official Microsoft channels or trusted tech forums.
   Test updates on a non-critical VM before applying them to your primary VMs.
   By adjusting the Paravirtualization Interface setting, you should be able to restore functionality to your Windows 10 VMs in VirtualBox.
