JixiPix has given away a few cute apps, though like today's Spektrel Art, I've only used them playfully, rather than for serious work. The few JixiPix apps I've gotten also tend to install a bit unusually -- not bad but just unusual. Spektrel Art is a slight version upgrade from the previous giveaway I had installed, v. 1.1.9.0 from v. 1.1.8.0. I copied the program's folder, plus the Users\ [UserName]\ AppData\ Roaming\ Spektrel Art\ folder, where the FX presets are stored, from a VM where I'd installed the app. That avoided the following folders being automatically created: C:\Program Files\ Common Files\ Adobe\ Plug-Ins\ CC\ JixiPix \ -- C:\Program Files\ uninst -- C:\Users\ [UserName]\ AppData\ Roaming\ Adobe\ Lightroom\ . The setup app has a drop down where you can have the plugins added to the program's folder, but that doesn't stop the other folders from being created. The only new registry entries I recorded were for Uninstalling the app. Activating Spektrel Art involves a few steps. I requested the link to the GOTD via email. Clicking the link in that email of course opens the page with the download link -- *before* I closed the browser [Edge] I went to the link in the GOTD download's readme.txt file, since going to that URL in another browser instance just took me to the regular GOTD page for today's offer. Note: if you need a 2nd key you'll have to use a VPN as your IP address is recorded. That gets you another email with a link including a coupon code to fill out the order form for the Spektrel Art app -- you don't need to set up an account, but it does request data like address, phone number, & email address. Immediately after filling in the info I got 2 more emails, including one with the license key. Note: getting on the email list the last time JixiPix was on GOTD over time got me a few more giveaways directly from JixiPix. Activation info is stored in the user folders, but is specific to that copy of Windows -- you can use the same key however to install Spektrel Art in more than one copy of Windows.

Setting it up in a 2nd copy of Windows, where the earlier version of Spektrel Art was already in place, the app appeared to register fine, but when re-opened still showed the Help -> Register button. Tried a bunch of shenanigans, and nothing helped, so tried a save, which worked. Restarting the app afterward the Register button was gone. BTW, note that saving as .jpg gives you no options for setting quality or compression level.
