I have had this message with activation of anything I've tried to get from Gotd. Its a new thing. I used to have no issues with activation. Unfortunately, there was some time between my last download and the game the other day and todays clipboard program. So I cannot figure this out. I have NO idea what's changed on my computer. My firewall is off, my AVG is off. I don't have any spyware programs running. *that I can find*. Any advice would be appreciated! Please......Linda

Yes, I get today you do things a bit different :) It is not just this program, it's the last two Ive tried to activate. A game over the weekend and this program, clipboard.
When I run the activation, the box comes up that is connecting to Give way of the day, Then a box comes up that says. Fatal error. Key is invalid.
I've tried doing another download as well as periodic activations. No go.
I am running XP home. sp2. I have more than enough ram and processor , heck everything to run Anything. so I know that's not an issue.I would blame the satellite if I was having issues with other download sites, but I'm not.
Thanks

It's very likely that the message "Fatal error: key is invalid" appears when some kind of proxy server between your computer and the website modifies the data being sent through it. So, that "key" data gets corrupted and it cannot be used to decrypt the package you've downloaded.
If you know for sure that you're connected to the Internet via proxy, please try to change the settings and use direct connection.
If you can't see anything that looks like proxy in your connections settings this means your provider forces the proxy server usage on their side (so you cannot switch it off using your computer connection settings) to decrease amount of data being sent by its network, it's a common bad practice for dial-up providers. In that case please contact your ISP, may be they can help you.

Admin has spoken true words of wisdom to the spellbound, mostly appreciative but obviously befuddled audience. Immersed in hushed silence, they sit and blink.
Then, from the shadows near the back of the hall, a timid voice squeaks out -
"What the bloody hell is a proxy server??"
Another voice chimes in -
"Direct connection? All I got is a plug running directly from my PC to the wall."
The curtain slowly drops, whilst over the intercom, an operatic choir begins to chant -
"Computers aren't the province of common men! Long live the priests of geekiness!"
A demoralized audience slowly shuffles out of the theatre, leaving behind a sticky/crunchy litter of loose popcorn and ripped up programs.

What is a proxy server?
I'll give "everyone" the most valuable tip to learning about stuff on the internet. When you come across something you don't understand or know - Google It. Open up http://www.google.com in your browser and type in the phrase you want to learn about.
In this case - "proxy server definition" - and several alternative answers are given. If you cannot find an answer you understand - perhaps it is part of an answer that is confusing you - break it down into pieces and google them too.
Don't be ashamed to admit there is something you don't know - or that you haven't come across before - because all of the experts "Google it" from time to time.
The discerning use of a search engine to learn concepts, techniques, how to resolve problems, and investigate if an idea you have is feasible - is a skill that can take any newbie from knowing next to nothing, to an experienced and capable user.

I have excluded antivirus and firewall (mine is Bitdefender) and that error "fatal error key invalid" has not yet appeared !
