   Hi,

   I have the 9.0 version of the program. I must say that starport and starview has given me strange errors during booting that say it couldn't find load devices PartMgr,fsata2 and even wmaudio. Over time I have been able to fix this because there were times I could boot only in safe mode. I also got warnings from staropen saying that the description of Even ID(51) in Source(StarOpen) cannot be found. This is a copy of the warning

   I understand that starburn and staropen are two different programs, but they seem to work together somehow.
   Now I have things going smoothly, but I am weary to install starburn 9.5 over the 9.0.
   Is it worth the potential problems I may have? Has anybody found a way to install 9.5 when 9.0 was installed already?

   Please help.

   Well, it seems like today is going to be one of those days when there are so many problems that getting answers from the "in the know" gurus is going to take time and with deadline so close I took it upon myself to answer my own question.

   I have a virtual VMWare computer, but no space to back it up, I like all the programs it has and I can take it and run it anywhere using VMWare player. So I said, what the heck, if I break my virtual machine, it would be easier to fix it than if my XP pro sp2
   destop does not work.

   I have noticed that most of the problems I have had in the past came from starport, so it has been uninstalled in both desktop and the Virtual computer. There are other programs that emulate DVDs, so no big loss. As a bonus, both my virtual computers and my desktop have Starburn 9.0 installed.

   So I fired the starburn 9.5 installer, refused to have desktop icons, refuse to have starport installed and refused to change my home page and... IT WORKED. The install program never asked me to reboot, no missing dlls were needed and experienced none of the problems people have been posting. The installation went smoother than any other GAOTD.

   Both StarBurns 9.0 and 9.5 work fine and I created a virtual DVD using Daemon and both Starburns saw it as a real DVD.

   So this is my opinion, it is the way I made it work in MY computer.
   Stay away from starport. Don't install it and uninstall it if you have it. If you have the older starburn, just let the new one install in a different directory and a different spot on "All Programs".

   I am back after installing StarBurn 9.5 in my desktop and, in case anyone is interested, I'll briefly describe how it went.

   First I rebooted the Virtual machine a few times. No problems.
   I rebooted the main computer after making a restore point and made sure nothing was running. I added the setup to the list my firewall allows and ran it. It took 2 second (literally) to install and so far I've seen nothing strange.

   I'm pooped. need sleep. bye.

   Anyone try to install Starburn 9.5 OVER 9.0? That was this topic's original question that remains unanswered. (The above poster installed in addition to 9.0 not over. Why have two versions of the same thing on one computer???)

   I would really like to know the answer to original question ASAP.

   Or, will Rocket's website update work? I get as message about it when I open it. From what I read on their forum, the people working at Rocket seem pretty good about giving support to GAOTD folks.
