Inside the Mansion—and Mind— of Kim Dotcom, the Most Wanted Man on the Net

The 1st one reveals his plans for the new Mega service in the works to replace Megaupload -- every upload will be encrypted & only the person doing the uploading will receive a key.
The 2nd, fairly long article talks about Dotcom etc. as the writer spent several days at his mansion -- it tells readers what it's like, a bit of Dotcom's history, & something of Dotcom's side of the story. His version of events does sound plausible, but it's left to you, the reader to decide -- other than giving Dotcom's side the article doesn't push you one way or the other.
Because I don't expect WR, graylox etc. to follow US politics...
my read from being in the US is that Dotcom could have come up with a better line of attack if he hopes to get free of all his legal troubles & expense... He puts most of the blame on the current US administration, which is plausible [they've been known to do stuff like that], but has apparently decided it's in his best interest to attack the current administration. He won't get much sympathy that way in the US on the left, & the right is more the law & order party -- they might agree the US went too far, but if he's a crook, oh well, probably had it coming. Dotcom may find support among the Libertarians, but they're the minority *by far* in the gov. Without political intervention the DOJ will likely proceed, even if the admin is voted out of office next month. If he's playing for world sympathy, again probably not a good way to go -- a majority of the US media is beyond pro admin., to the point of misreporting & censorship, & their *reporting* is parroted quite a bit by other media around the world... polls I've seen published show the vast majority of countries around the world are just as solidly behind the current admin as the US media. Saying the US went too far is one thing, & will probably get a Lot of agreement -- placing blame on the current president's doorstep I wouldn't expect will win him a lot of friends or support.
