Download OK. Install OK. Attempt to register per Readme instruction produces msg:
"Register (Not logged in! Please check email or password)". 3 Attempts, same result.
Tried d.l. via firefox & IE9 same result. Not worth the effort. DvdFab products and I just don't seem to work well together. OS is W7 Ult.

There is a note on the main GOTD site:
Dear users,
we are aware of the situation with registration problems and have already contacted the developers. As soon as we get a reply from them, we will let you know.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Best regards,
GOTD project team

The only reason I would get it is for testing purposes. And I don't particularly need updates to the decryption side of the player, as I would run AnyDVD HD in the background. This works well using the discontinued TMT3.
But this problem with registration was seen by DVDFab users before this giveaway offer ever appeared. DVDFab simply didn't fix it entirely before offering it up on this site.
FWIW I like to have one regular, current player because AnyDVD &/or DVDFab can sometimes break parts of a retail disc so that it won't play properly. I got a deal on upgrading to the latest Nero Plat., so I use their Kwik Media player -- before that I liked Roxio's Cineplayer because it plays folders where most like PowerDVD require a mounted disc/ISO, & it handles stuff like mpg2 Blu-Ray, which again PowerDVD refuses to work with... Unfortunately Roxio discontinued Cineplayer for 2012.
Some people talk about VLC [which I use too], but they usually fail to mention stuff like clicking to the next chapter can be a bit more bother, same with displaying subs, & you won't/don't get the full menu display or behaviors. Nor does VLC have the same hardware acceleration support, nor can it handle display & DS filters like MPC Homecinema.
Didn't know about prior registration problems -- I haven't kept up with this player since trying it in beta... with DVDFab I expect incremental improvement over time, & didn't expect their player to be solid for a while yet. It took a while before the DVDFab app got to it's present state handling Blu-Ray, last I tried it Passkey hadn't yet gotten to where I thought it worked as well as AnyDVD, the DVDFab virtual drive was IMHO only recently fully usable, so figured I'd look at the player again in a few more months.

There's only two hours left, but the solution for installation is to right click on the desktop icon and run as administrator. This is in Win 7 64 bit.

Gave it a last minute shot & it worked... Needs a breakaway menu of some sort, unless I missed it by being in a hurry -- Blu-Ray players I've used don't accept normal mouse input, but need/use a separate control to mimic the remote. Without it the Blu-Ray I tried was stuck at 1st menu. Still it does play the menu portion of discs, so it's a bit more advanced that a regular player.

I installed and registered with no issues but when I tried to play a dvd or a dvd file it immediately crashed

I downloaded and installed yesterday, but had registration problems. I didn't delete it so I was able to try registering today (Saturday) and it worked fine. I just tried playing a blu-ray and it worked fine. My OS is Win7 x64.

The beta version will install on top of the GOTD & appears to stay registered -- it doesn't say registered in the About box or anything, never did, but don't get the trial message when I start the player.

It won't run for me in the XP Mode VM -- don't know if that's an issue with XP itself or Windows VPC or if it was the lack of Direct X support or whatever. I'll give it a quick try next time I'm in XP Pro proper [not a VM], & if I get a chance, run it with Process Explorer open to see what files it calls/opens.
