hello all, thanks for taking the time to read and [hopefully] help. I looked all around the forums and FAQs, but did not see my question. Here goes:
I follow GAOTD as an RSS feed [into Thunderbird]
When something interesting comes along, I click on the link which brings me to the GAOTD website where I can view more info, people's votes and comments, etc. I love the comments, especially the 'alternate softwares' suggestions from people.
My question is, Are these comment pages available en-masse in the forums somewhere for searching? Often I will remember seeing something a few weeks or months ago that I I am interested in "re-finding" -but I can't remember with which GAOTD offering that particular alternative was suggested on.
I would love a way to search ALL old comments for key words/phrases [eg. ecommerce, or php editor]
thanks for any consideration and insight!
warm regards,
pal

Hello paladin_, you can always use the search function of the download site, faster and more comprehensive is a search with Google/Bing.

Google is your friend, particularly if you know where you want to search.
Try these two searches in Google and compare the differences:
ecommerce inurl:giveawayoftheday.com
ecommerce site:giveawayoftheday.comFrom Google Search Operators - Google Guide:
inurl: If you include inurl: in your query, Google will restrict the results to documents containing that word in the URL
site: If you include site: in your query, Google will restrict your search results to the site or domain you specifyNote: if you actually want a php editor then enclosing it in quotes searches on the phrase ("php editor") rather than the individual words
Use Google, don't let Google use you. Most other search engines have similar search operators if you don't normally use Google.

This works for me usually:
Google Advanced Search - http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en&num=100&as_sitesearch=giveawayoftheday.com
