Help, my laptop is going to be reinstalled in January. I have read the FAQ notes that I cannot reinstall any of my GOTD programs. Is there any way around this as I really would hate to loose some of these programs. Many thanks for any help.

Hi, tdotcom,
you have already read the FAQ maybe even our Rules For These Forums ?
Especially # 7:
Do not ask how to install/transfer/copy/backup giveaway software after the giveaway has finished. The only supported way to install giveaway software is by running the supplied setup and/or activate programs prior to the giveaway period expiring. Giveaways may be rerun periodically. If you "want it now" and like the software enough, you should show your support to the developers and purchase or register the software.
However, if you make a back up of your hard drive with one of the former GOTD programmes (e.g. http://www.paragon-software.com/home/) you won't lose anything.
Many of the games given away are free standing, that means you can copy and save them.Otherwise, please pay the developers for their work.

Opps sorry I didn't mean any harm, was just concerned as my laptop gets reinstalled every three years so this is going to be a regular occurrence. Thank you for your assistance.

tdotcom, no harm taken.
If your laptop gets reinstalled every three years - and you are still using the software, then that could be an indication that you would enjoy the software even more if you registered the software with the developer and got the latest and greatest versions (and the ability to reinstall the software on your laptop in the future).
I find GOTD is a great way to try out programs on an extended basis (beyond limiting 14 day trials etc). Usually after a month or two (or three) I get a better idea if the software is worth purchasing - or if I should go back and look at (freeware) alternatives.
I've never looked at GOTD as a way to accumulate software (that I might need one day) - as the restrictions (no updates, reinstall, or support) really cannot match the benefits in paying for a full license. But GOTD is an excellent way to discover new software and determine (in my timeframe) which programs I would actually use - prior to purchasing.
If you are smart, there are lots of "discount" and "coupon" sites around that will sell most software with big markdowns. Sometimes even just a friendly email to a developer and asking for a discount, will result in saving some money (don't forget to tell them you heard about their software on GOTD).
