If I still have the original downloaded exe file, and need to reinstall the free software, will it install for free, or am I SOL?

Also, I have another PC that is currently being repaired. Will I be able to use this downloaded exe file to install this software, say, next week once repairs are done?
If not, any way around this other than buying it?
Thanks

Case A: The developers provide a serial number that will work with their downloadable trial versions -- in that case you're all set, but you may want to hold onto a copy of that download along with the key because there's no guarantee it'll work with the next version.
Case B: Companies like Paragon & Wheemplay normally use a WinRAR self-extracting file that contains the real setup.exe or the app itself -- as long as you don't lose that, along with any serial numbers given, you're golden.
Case C: A GOTD may use Activate.exe rather than the setup file enclosed in the GOTD wrapper -- in case of problems you **might** get away running the original or a downloaded setup file to repair things, but it depends on if the key is overwritten during setup... it could go either way.
Otherwise think of it at best as a free app or game, at worst an extended trial, that either way can only be installed the day of the giveaway. Ideally if you use an app & can afford it you'll pay something for it anyway, just to support further development -- while some scam artists get rich via the Apple App Store, the majority of shareware authors are far from wealthy. 2nd best I think is if you help spread the word, advertising whatever app by word of mouth. 3rd would be at least give the devs feedback so they can improve their product.
