I just happened to be working on a PowerPoint project that I wanted to publish on my website when this GOTD came along. Download, activation etc was a piece of cake. The software compressed my PPT file from 16+K down to 1.4K in under a minute. I published it to my web site and it works just fine. Thanks GOTD! I definitely can use this.

I am SOOOO glad I remembered to check in and download this software. It is GREAT. I was researching some of these programs and didn't have the $$$ to buy one. As a grad student (teacher & graphics designer) this helped solve a problem with embedding sound in powerpoint files for distribution. It also solves the problem that some people have with protecting their files. I didn't get to it until 2 AM, though, so I didn't get the chance to blast it to more folks. I've converted 2 files this morning, and I am so pleased. It also does a better job of this than other more expensive software I've tried.

For me, this is such a blessing. Thank you GOTD!!

There is absolutely no problem installing and activating this on XP and on Vista with Office 2007. I used it on both OSes with NO PROBLEMS. The configuration options are also VERY powerful.

Some of you people amaze me at how you find problems with the simplest things. As far as the activation - yeah you really kind of have to READ THE FREAKING readme file to understand the process.

Jeez, do your parents still have to wipe your a$$ for you?

Thought I'd give this a try to convert technical presentations given to management. The slides contained lots of charts and tables which the Flashspring converter mutilated! The table text in the Flash output was unreadable and the color bars in the charts looked like they were made by a child who hasn't mastered the art of coloring inside the lines. Am about to delete this junk.

I downloaded 1.5 earlier it worked well, but I wasn't impressed with the file sizes it produced. Hopefully, this will make smaller files. But...now I have two Flashspring toolbars on Powerpoint; the installer wasn't smart enough to delete the old 1.5 toolbar and do a true upgrade. I'll uninstall and reinstall and see if I can get rid of it that way...*sigh.*

The comments about how expensive some of this software is makes me laugh. I'm really amazed at the power of some of the more expensive programs, such as Photoshops, (and this particular program), which do more than a color lab from 20 years ago could do and with ease. When I dabbled in photo printing before computers were the norm, it would have cost me thousands of dollars to attain just a fraction of the functions that photoshop offers. Sorry to go off point, but I had to respond to comment #105 "The Deprived", who also says the alternative is to pirate them. That's probably one of the reasons some of this software is so expensive. (just my opinion).

I second what BladedThoth said- there's a market for this. The fact that there are a few immature whiners that don't seem to understand that there are other people with needs & wants separate from their own does not change things.

I have a livefeed for GotD in my Firefox toolbar. I click and it shows me what's up for the day. If I'm interested, I load the page; if not, then it's no harm, no foul. I don't feel the need to berate GotD because they didn't pander to my needs/wants for the day. I've got more important things to do.

I do try to come in sometimes and put in a few words of support for when they do put something up useful for me. It's my way of saying, "Thank you." I'm sure they're a business like anywhere else, but it still doesn't hurt to be appreciative of those that are making opportunities like this available to the ordinary Joe.

Thanks to Slava & the GotD team and to FlashSpring for today's opportunity. I, for one, can use this. Regardless of what the minority say, we appreciate what you're doing for us all.

#103 tttt, you may have never seen readme.txt or activate.exe if your unzip program is set to "Wizard" mode. Wizard mode searches for a setup file and installs software for you but never shows you other contents of the zip file.

Open your unzip program and look for "Options" in the menus, from Options shut Wizard mode OFF. You will usually need to close and reopen the zip program for the change to go into effect. Go back and double click the zip file you downloaded from here and your unzip program should then open and show you the entire contents of the zip file. From there you can access readme.txt for activation instructions so your installed software will be fully registered.

This is a fabulous program if you have the need. I taught online classes and I really could have used this. I'm not sure about it's ability to handle the issues that haunted me in the area of math (greek and special characters), but just for the bandwidth issues involved in online classes this would be a great software option for many instructors with online classes.

This is exactly why we need Giveaway of the Day. $200 for software is ridiculous($600 for Photoshop is insane) and this way we can get things for free.

Though we can always pirate them. This way we can do it legally and fun.

This is a repost I commented earlier and have tried this program for the entire day. It's sad that some of the people who visit this site don't take the time out to do some real research into some of the programs offered. It is also sad that the publishers had to comment to clarify things that I recognized from the time I installed this program. As I said earlier this is a fantastic program one of the best for the year in my opinion. I personally want to thank the publishers for this app and as I said earlier I would buy it. The only alternative that I have seen that comes close to offering the kind of functionality of this program goes for about the same price, and as I said earlier their is always adobe Flash Professional which retails for $499 US and up (of course that one has more perks but you get my point)

#57: 2-SHEDS - Thanks for reading it. It didn't work for me, and even though I couldn't make it work, I still tried to say an opinion on it based on my experiences to that point.

#64: awp - I tried with my own powerpoint file, both ones from 2007 and 2003, and did not work. I also tried a few from the web to no avail. Kept giving me an error every time. If the devs want, I'll post a screenshot when I get home.

#65: Mr Borat - I know, as a review, it sucked; However, I do want to as best I can voice what I find and what I feel, from my experiences about an application offered here. As noted in my post and my review (If you didn't read it fully) is that it was simply a quick review and my comments on it. I beat on it for almost a half-hour this morning to make it work and nothing helped. I wanted to make sure people knew at least that it was acting tempermental under PPT2K7 for me and my feelings on it, it's price and their website. I don't know what the point of your comments were at all, really.

#100: FlashSpring Pro Team - I do feel what you are saying; I have developed a significant amount of code, personally and professionally; freeware/opensource and for-money (either employer or otherwise). While I do not feel that many may by your software as since it is just out of their budget and I can not comment on the functionality, I do know that there is a market for your software, including larger corporations, institutions and many professionals who love PowerPoint to death and would rather not learn another system to get web-friendly.

FlashSpring Pro team, if you can aid me in troubleshooting functionality with PowerPoint 2007 (If it does support it at all), I am willing (as noted on my site) to review the software again. If you want to contact me, head over to my forums ( http://forum.bladedthoth.com ) and send me a PM.

FlashSpring uses ffmpeg library only for flash video generation.

Just for information:
FlashSpring source code is more than 200 000 lines of C++ code long. Besides of that FlashSpring uses:
1. Our own ActionScript 2.0 compiler
2. Our own WMF to SWF conversion library for perfect conversion of vector shapes into Flash format

The overal code size is more than 300 000 lines of code.

This code has been developed for several years and is constantly improving now. We are adding new features to make our product reach the highest possible quality of PowerPoint to Flash conversion.

And, believe you or not, there are a lot of people who buy FlashSpring. They buy it because those 300 000 lines of code solve their tasks perfectly. These users even don't have to know about it. They just convert their presentations in a couple of mouse clicks. :)

Nothing in our imperfect world is done for free. Neither programs, nor food. Even if you are sure that you got something for free - it just means that someone paid for you. :)

I seriously doubt that anyone would buy this. It's a great giveaway, but when watching the installation process I noticed that FlashSpring Pro 2.0 uses ffmpeg.dll. You would be paying $200 for basically free software if you bought it.

Anyway, great giveaway!

Thanks a lot GOTD :)

Yes, Open Office can export PowerPoint presentation to Flash. However it doesn't keep any animations, transitions, audios and videos after conversion to Flash.
Some users can be satisfied with such a limited functionality but those who need to keep animations and interactive elements in their presentations will have to use commercial solutions such as FlashSpring.

YES if they have the activate.exe separate from the Setup otherwise NO.(but do not uninstall it otherwise its demo mode, move the folder off to a external Hard Drive,or USB Stick.) You must have it activated and if your computer crash then you only get demo mode. If your computer Crash Do not worry you got it here for free in full, so just wait for GAOTD, G.GAOTD to have newer versions of the programs whenever it shows up in other form of programs. May I sojest to backup all your system files like registry and also move program folders off the main hard drive to a external Hard Drive so that the Main Hard Drive give the O. System room to work in. You do not have to reinstall this program if you have it on another Removable External Hard Drive or USB 4gb Memory Stick when you install it.

#85 I'm using Vista and PowerPoint 2007 and have no problems. So I don't think it's either Vista or PP 2007 that has a problem.

The developer mentioned that there were problems with the software's compatability with PowerPoint 2007 Beta. So maybe the people having problems with 2007 are still using the Beta rather than the final edition of PP?
