A handy tool for making animated gifs from video files.

Flash Decompiler is a powerful SWF to FLA converter with functionality to decompile Flash movies, convert SWF elements into multiple formats and replace them on the go. With an ease of one click you can store sounds, images, videos, shapes, frames, morphs, fonts, texts, buttons, sprites and ActionScripts from any SWF file directly to your hard drive.

You can export Flash Video to AVI and FLA, save sounds as WAV and MP3, images - as PNG, JPEG and BMP, texts as RTF, TXT and HTML. Flash Decompiler by Eltima lets you convert the whole SWF file or only shapes, images, sounds, morphs and texts into FLA. Projector EXE files are decompiled the same easy way as common SWF files. Flash Decompiler will give you detailed information about shapes, images, morphs etc., also tracking their placements in frames and sprites and even reflecting original names of frames, ActionScripts and sprites. Unique SWF Replacer feature of Flash Decompiler enables replacing sounds, images, colors, gradients and lines to make changes to SWF files even without previous conversion.

Hello number 13. I have had the same problems today. I have been trying the whole afternoon to activate the prog. Solution: Type in the name (GiveawayoftheDay) manually and then copy and paste the regcode. After that it works fine now. :-)

Thank you!

Seems that I am going to return to working with Flash.
This application should be a 'must have' for every good Flash student.

I am not planning to 'steal' other's work, but I am very interested on such awesome flashes that I frequently stumble while navigating. In most cases, I imagine that I just have to download it, place it in my Flash folder and decompile it. Finally, if I have understood it well, it should recompile again with no efort.

Thank you, again!
Alberto

Installation worked OK up til where the app launched, then it just froze at the splash screen. It could not be stopped. Could not even kill it with Task Manager. Every attemt to "End Task" just produced a popup box saying "Error". Had to make many to see the text coz the first ones appeared behind the frozen splash screen. Had to reboot. Tried twize, with same result...then uninstall...Running Windows 2000 SP4 + SP4 rollup.

Installed, executed and succsesfully activated it on my win98SE desktop PC and had a curosry glance through some previously saved swf files and found it quite enlightening. I feel this can provide the bridge between the amaturish visuals offered by swf tutorials and the full blown professional swf applets, one can see how action scripts can be used and so gain a feel for the language itself. It's a shame I could not get it to run under vista... Maybe when the author's ironed out the vista problems they might do a re-run with the new version? Regardless I give this a thumbs up for its sheer educational value for self-tutored individuals.

Installed it, and worked like a charm.
There was one moment that had me worried, but that turned out to be just a minor temporary glitch.
After installing, the program started up... and immediately dissapeared from the screen.
Checked the process manager, didn't see it in there, so I started the program again.
From there on, it worked flawlessly.

There's something wrong, I just installed it and keeps frozen at the intro screen. Unninstalled it, then installed it again and the same thing. I don't know if it's my PC or just a program's bug.

What can I do? Thanks!

This is a good program if you are looking to learn flash without having to buy $50 books that read like the fine print on a cellphone contract. See a .swf you like, use this program and wham! you have a .fla to use to learn the tricks of the trade.

#23: Shhhhhh.... you're not supposed to tell people about stuff that lets you easily pirate other peoples' stuff... even if you are 100% right... lol...

#30: Screensaver would be good, yeah. But lucky for myself, I had been thinking of pirat-- errrr purchasing... this particular piece of software for a few days now, so unlike you, I do find this my cup of tea.

I've used a trial of this program some time ago, to compare between different programs, and this one did well.
But back then I had no need for it, only needed something like this since rather recently.

There are two possible reasons for the problem described in http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/flash-decompiler/#comment-52172 :

1) Perhaps somebody else on the same network is using Flash Decompiler registered with the key from GiveAway. This is peculiarity of Flash Decompiler protection system.

2) The problem may occur if you are trying to launch several copies simultaneously in case you have Single License for Flash Decompiler.

Did a quick compare with Sothink Decompiler and Eltima exported the text into Flash with the correct font render, whereas Sothink couldn't -- I didn't have the particular font installed, yet Eltima still worked ok.

I might keep this, thanks.

I had used the trial version in the past to decompile a Flash presentation for a big client who needed to translate it from English to Italian (but he had no source files available...) and this decompiler just did a great Job !!! it's a wonderful program that can really save you hundreds of hours of work!

It's great as an add on if you use Firefox and have the unplug extension that lets you pirate any flash material from websites.

After using the IE plug-in some more, I discovered that it's showing SWF files which are in the browser's cache. The files listed may not be from the current tab/page. Further, many SWF files are not cached, so it won't capture those. The plug-in has a link for a user manual, but it doesn't do anything.

I installed it on Vista Home, it startes alright but then it told me that either I am not the administrator, or I have "security issues".
Supposedly I cannot right click swf files now, it told me, for the rest it promised to be fully functional.
I have been waiting for prog like this, so I do hope it will work okay.
Thanks!

#14, I like the IE plug-in better than most of the alternative plug-ins--in IE 7, it's just an entry along with the Tools, etc., buttons/entries (right-hand side, in the extended menu area). It opens up a separate application window, with a list of SWF files found on the page, and a player. You select and save the files that you want, where you want. The Decompile button merely launches the decompiler; you have to open the file(s) yourself.

Great tool !
As I use swish to create my swf, I'd like it could reverse a swf to a swi (and not only to a fla), but it's really useful to me!

Much less powerful, if you are interested in extracting from times to times an image or a sound from a swf, you can try this one for 4$ :
http://www.19.5degs.com/element/71.php

Eltima's one is more expensive but a lot more powerful... (and it's available in french ;) !)

Seems to work fine, does what it says on the tin so to speak. I've not experimented in any great detail or tried out different options, but it appears to do a satisfactory job of producing an fla file you can work with from a provided swf.

It claims to integrate with Internet Explorer but unfortunately not with any of the other popular web-browsers although I've not yet actually tried out the IE plugin, instead testing it out with a few of my own swf files stored locally.
