This would be more useful if I could change the extension of files in a batch mode.

Brian, you can easily change the extensions of files in batches by using the New Name, Suffix & Prefix rules. [RAK]

Where is settings option to prevent this thing starting itself on bootup? Where is tutorial explaining how it works? When I try and navigate to a folder it selects all the folders in the path not just the one I want to select

Gary, Gary, we've noted your suggestion regarding the software interface. Easy File Renamer does not start on system bootup at all. It will only add that folder for renaming which you select. Cheers. [RAK]

Easy File Renamer makes the whole renaming thing pretty easy. The process was over in a flash, and it helped me avoid a major headache by doing it all on its own. Im super satisfied.

Marie, we're honored to have met your file renaming needs. Did you know you can also rename your Google Drive data in a totally safe and secure manner with Easy File Renamer? Cheers. [RAK]

Total failure.
It won't register here - when i click on "register" it sends a request to the server, gets a reply, and stays on the regisration dialog.

Without a license it doesn't let me rename even a single file - prompts me to register.

If you try to add numbers to filenames, it follows the file adding order - no way to reorder the files after they are added to the list.
Can't add leading zeroes to the numbers.
Adds underscore before the number - no way to disable this.

Clearing the file list also clears all rules.

I wasted half hour on this - trying to register, then trying to rename couple dosens of files from "###-various_things.mp4" (with one file not matching this pattern) to "Title - ep_###.mp4" and failed.
Uninstalled.

Using the batch rename function in the free IrfanView (which is actually an image viewer) i completed this task in under a minute.

Been using Bulk Rename Utility for past decades. Its just there in the Startup Menu, i'll keep this as well as it can handle certain things like editing the mp3 files.Which i listen to diligently everyday.

Thank you for this software Giveaway.

Can this software copy/rename/move, etc without changing the date created so I can keep track of picture or other files' sequence, etc.?

Does anyone know of other of the free Renamers tha can do this?

Reply   |   Comment by BGee  –  6 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-3)

BGee, Easy File Renamer does not change the date created at all, in any case. But when you move or copy data, the date created does change due to Windows settings. We'd suggest you make good use of Easy File Renamer's renaming rules to organize your photos/ data in a nice structured manner. Cheers. [RAK]

In the readme file, the second statement in "Terms and conditions" stated that free updates to future versions is offered. Is it true? Please clarify. Thanks.

Ah Ye Lee, hi .
Where did you see that ?
In my readme file I see clearly " 2) No free updates to future versions " .

Reply   |   Comment by JEDIGEG  –  6 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

Ah Ye Lee, free updates and upgrades will last throughout the duration of the lincense's period. However, this does not include any bundled product/ subscription we might offer as part of Easy File Renamer.

Is this a 1 year license? The price you have put for this in the information panel and in the top of this page equate to the 1 year subscription price and not the $44.97 lifelong-plan price shown on page https://www.easyfilerenamer.com/register.html

Reply   |   Comment by TK  –  7 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+18)

TK, the free license we're giving out is valid for 1 year only, as stated in the Price field on the top-right of this page. Cheers. [RAK]

RAK, well, that's not really user-friendly, since one has to visit the purchase page to even get a clue what is being offered. It would have been much better if that info had been put into description of the offer but thanks for clarifying.

Reply   |   Comment by senzai6293  –  6 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+8)

RAK, could you please explain what the justification is for a subscrition licensing model on this product? Are you providing an ongoing cloud service that is required to use this program? Or are you just trying to create a non-stop revenue stream just because it's nice to have a continuos cash flow for no specific ongoing work?

Reply   |   Comment by TK  –  6 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

RAK, By the way I find your product page mostly deceptive in that it makes no direct mention that this is a paid for product with no BUY now or stating the free download is not the fully functional non-exipring program but requires registration which requires payment up front. When I first searched and eventually found the purchass page I also noticed your other pages boasting Google software principles and thought oh really? Hiding the purchass page down at the bottom of the product page as a inocuous "Register" link as if it was just to register an account with the website for a forum or making purchsses or leaving comments when it is really the only way to make the software fully operational does not in my opinion align with the stated Google software principles.

https://www.easyfilerenamer.com/google-software-principles.html

You state "We Strong Adherence to Upfront Disclosure of Information, Transparency and No Tricky Behavior"

you did not state Upfront in the description of this giveaway the license duration. Your product page does not state Upfront that the download is a demo/trial that needs to be paid for and registered to be fully functional. You do not disclose the prices of or license terms of the product on the product page or even that fact it is a commercial product and not freeware.

To me your website does not adhere to the stated aims of the Google Software Principles or the big claim you make I quoted verbatum.

From the page https://www.google.com/about/software-principles.html

"We believe that software should not trick you into installing it." by you not stating UpFront that the free download is a trial or demo and not the fully functional non-expiring program I believe you are tricking users into downloading and installing it and only when they have installed it do they find out it is NOT the fully functional never expiring program and tht payment and registraion is required in order to get the features mentioned on the products website.

May I politly suggest you reconsider this unsavory approach to this sites and your websites visitors and potential product ambasadors and potential customers?

First of all, I don't like anything that connects to the Cloud.
Load MP3 songs from iTunes for renaming? Going into the Internet again.
There is a lot of emphasis to going online in this software.
We do not know what else is sent from your PC to unknown parties out there.
The 10+ rules are too basic and unrefined. They do not give you the precision required.
There are lots of VERY much more powerful renaming software that are FREE.

ricohflex, hi .

JEDIGEG, I'm quite happy with Advanced Renamer available from www.advancedrenamer.com

Reply   |   Comment by Laramide  –  6 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+11)

ricohflex, iTunes data is not sent online under any circumstances. The software only connects to the Internet if you opt to use the Cloud Rename feature. Easy File Renamer uses the official Google Drive API to rename files. It won't store files and passwords as Google Drive provides very limited access. We always strive to ensure your privacy is at no risk.

Would you suggest to us what kind of new rules you would like to see in our new update scheduled to be released in 2019's end?
