This would be more useful if I could change the extension of files in a batch mode.

Brian, you can easily change the extensions of files in batches by using the New Name, Suffix & Prefix rules. [RAK]

Where is settings option to prevent this thing starting itself on bootup? Where is tutorial explaining how it works? When I try and navigate to a folder it selects all the folders in the path not just the one I want to select

Gary, Gary, we've noted your suggestion regarding the software interface. Easy File Renamer does not start on system bootup at all. It will only add that folder for renaming which you select. Cheers. [RAK]

Easy File Renamer makes the whole renaming thing pretty easy. The process was over in a flash, and it helped me avoid a major headache by doing it all on its own. Im super satisfied.

Marie, we're honored to have met your file renaming needs. Did you know you can also rename your Google Drive data in a totally safe and secure manner with Easy File Renamer? Cheers. [RAK]

Total failure.
It won't register here - when i click on "register" it sends a request to the server, gets a reply, and stays on the regisration dialog.

Without a license it doesn't let me rename even a single file - prompts me to register.

If you try to add numbers to filenames, it follows the file adding order - no way to reorder the files after they are added to the list.
Can't add leading zeroes to the numbers.
Adds underscore before the number - no way to disable this.

Clearing the file list also clears all rules.

I wasted half hour on this - trying to register, then trying to rename couple dosens of files from "###-various_things.mp4" (with one file not matching this pattern) to "Title - ep_###.mp4" and failed.
Uninstalled.

Using the batch rename function in the free IrfanView (which is actually an image viewer) i completed this task in under a minute.

Thank you for this software Giveaway.

Can this software copy/rename/move, etc without changing the date created so I can keep track of picture or other files' sequence, etc.?

Does anyone know of other of the free Renamers tha can do this?

Reply   |   Comment by BGee  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-3)

BGee, Easy File Renamer does not change the date created at all, in any case. But when you move or copy data, the date created does change due to Windows settings. We'd suggest you make good use of Easy File Renamer's renaming rules to organize your photos/ data in a nice structured manner. Cheers. [RAK]

In the readme file, the second statement in "Terms and conditions" stated that free updates to future versions is offered. Is it true? Please clarify. Thanks.

Ah Ye Lee, hi .
Where did you see that ?
In my readme file I see clearly " 2) No free updates to future versions " .

Ah Ye Lee, free updates and upgrades will last throughout the duration of the lincense's period. However, this does not include any bundled product/ subscription we might offer as part of Easy File Renamer.

Great tool with outstanding features set. Different renaming patterns are extremely helpful. Works pretty well on my Windows 10. Thank you for releasing it for free!!

First of all, I don't like anything that connects to the Cloud.
Load MP3 songs from iTunes for renaming? Going into the Internet again.
There is a lot of emphasis to going online in this software.
We do not know what else is sent from your PC to unknown parties out there.
The 10+ rules are too basic and unrefined. They do not give you the precision required.
There are lots of VERY much more powerful renaming software that are FREE.

ricohflex, hi .
Can you please name a few of them (free) ?
I really need an app of this kind .
I had a very good one but lost it due to HDD crash .
Thank you .

JEDIGEG, I'm quite happy with Advanced Renamer available from www.advancedrenamer.com

ricohflex, iTunes data is not sent online under any circumstances. The software only connects to the Internet if you opt to use the Cloud Rename feature. Easy File Renamer uses the official Google Drive API to rename files. It won't store files and passwords as Google Drive provides very limited access. We always strive to ensure your privacy is at no risk.

Would you suggest to us what kind of new rules you would like to see in our new update scheduled to be released in 2019's end?

ricohflex, Yes, connection to the cloud is a deal breaker for me.

I will try it .
I wish I could remember the name of the one
I've lost but it's been years that my HDD crashed .
