This program has so little compared to the current version it's almost like a demo. Very disappointing considering what I thought I was going to get. I sort of feel this is a gimmick giveaway from this company, making you want the better version so you'll buy the current one.

Hi Mardel,

"If you re-read my comment to Jane up above you will see that I stated it upgrades the account to Premium; not the software."

I'll take your word for it and to that effect I stand corrected.

Mainly because I can't be bothered to look for it, life's too short.

My thoughts are entirely with 'Whisperly' on this one. Hey GAOTD on the up side this freebie is a rare find, cheers. But on the down side...Please number the 'Comments' and 'Replies'. It's a nightmare trying to wade through them, looking for a specific response!

Lots of people complaining about the registration....it went fine and like clock work for me....it was no more complicated than the registration for Franzis software which we have had here several times....just use common sense and logic.

I tried to post this comment hours ago but for some reason you chose not to display it. Now I can't get back to my Pc in time even if you do fix the problem, so I guess that means I've missed it.

Registered, went back in with the URL provided, logged in, etc. After hittig submit received the following error:

OperateFail http://www.reallusion.com/CustomerSupport/User/QForm.aspx

That said, don't give up as a few minutes later the following message was displayed:

Due to too many downloads and serial number requests in a short time, our redeem server is a little over loading. If you can't get the serial number successfully, please try it again after two hours. We'll keep the serial number redeem page public for more days, and you can take your time to collect the serial number.
Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for your patience.

The registration hoops are real...

If I had bought this, I would have refunded it before completing all these steps.

Program did register properly, and the program seems to run properly on Win10-64 even though as others have said the version is from 2011.

It must be activated before the timer on the Giveawayoftheday runs out.
---
View the "Readme" inside the .Zip folder to learn how to activate it. It's kind of a hassle, you'll have to create a username on their page (using a valid e-mail account), activate your account through your e-mail then go back to the page in the readme.txt again, & press login then get the License Key -- After doing this, it worked for me then I closed it, & it had trouble opening up then I had to do this extra step (Check the video below), now it appears to open up fine.

why not giving the new V2 version ?

The most difficult registration process ever encountered in 10 years here. I guess they figured if you can't find your way through the registration labyrinth there is no way you will ever understand the software.

About gave the same info.
A small example in html:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10366431/_GOTD/CrazyTalkAnimator1_20160414/GOTD-20160414.html
I think that it takes many rainy days to learn how to use it proper.
And I think a big monitor will help also.
And make a storyboard.

From the description the purpose of this program is to create animated videos using clip art and other images? For someone like me with no artistic talent, it doesn't seem like something I'd ever use, though maybe our children would like it when they are older.

I believe this is a lifetime license, so it should still work in a few years on the same PC? If I want to install this on 2 different PCs, can I use the same registration key on the 2nd PC or do I need to register each separately for each family member?

Go to the following page: http://www.reallusion.com/event/CTA1Std/giveawayoftheday_CTA.html
DON'T CLOSE THAT PAGE....
Create an account with the Publisher.
Once done, go back to the other page, and scroll down... down to:

Then, and only then, will you get your serial number.

This is a real "WOW" program. If it can do what it advertises, with only a half a year's study, I bet it will be amazing. Review the video at the URL below to see what you can accomplish. I would be hard pressed to spend the time needed to learn how to use this program, nor do I need it, but it does look wonderful. Thanks for this free program.

Jeremy, I for one am one of the unlucky ones. After creating my account, I used the link from the GOTD readme again, then clicked on the link that says "Log in with your Reallusion Member Account to Get your Serial Number"; okay, good so far, but then on the next screen when I click on the big ole' "Submit" button, I'm greeted with an error instead of a license:
OperateFail
http://www.reallusion.com/CustomerSupport/User/QForm.aspx

What good is that?!? Clicking the link only gives me a problem submission page for them to (eventually/possibly) contact me about it. Sucks.

Cool beans! Just the other day after filter forge popped up I wondered if GOTD would get Сrazy Talk and here it is. Thank you for this! I already had an account with the company for I-clone so registration was easy as 1,2,3 for me. The download took forever though, probably due to demand lag and for first time in a long time I am having some technical difficulties. Crazy Talk will not acknowledge my log in details as valid even though I've verified the information on the site. I'm still working out what might be causing this problem any help would be appreciated as I'm sure I'm not the only one that bumped into this problem. :)

Have the installer retain the path information when browsing a custom location.
You force the user to either copy and paste the Reallusion\CrazyTalk Animator 1 part or retype it in the new location.
Twice, since it needs done in the Start Menu as well.

Also, allow Create New Folder when Browsing for a Content location.
Why would I want that in Public?

Comment for GOTD site managers: PLEASE label the comments with numbers! On any given day, there may be upwards of 100 comments. It's easy to get lost when trying to go back to a specific comment because they all look alike. Finding my own comments and replies is difficult without a reference point. I have to do an in-page search for keywords I *may* have used just to find my comment entry. Using numbers for the comments means finding, say, comment 32 easy as pie. Plus it would help us understand the order comments were posted in better. PLEASE add numbers to the comments! Thank you.

Whisperly, There is even another problem with this GAOTD website today. When using latest version of Firefox on Win 10, if you click the "yes" or "no" button voting a useful comment or not, it will not record the vote but send you packing back to the top of the page. I'm now using IE11 just for this site for today only and it works properly on this browser.

Craig, thank you for your input. It's definitely helpful to search your own name (I did reference this as "in-page search" in my comment), but some don't know how to, and the many who do know how may care to save those steps. GOTD admin changing to a number system (for most web pages) is as simple as changing from "ul" to "ol" one time, and boom, presto.

Registration process way too much and the info regarding the registration web pages is inaccurate, there is really no need to make everyone jump through hoops to get a serial number for free software, why not put the serial number in the read me file. That aside installation was quick and easy (once reg sorted out) and looks like it could be fun to play with. please make GOTD registrations easier!

Installed and runs fine on Windows 8.1. Already had an account from a previous Giveaway so getting the serial number was easy. Already got lots of ideas for what to do with the software for some of my classes.
These Giveaways often come with a special upgrade deal, but I don't see one this time.
I, for one, would be very interested in upgrading to a new version.

If you make videos to drive targeted traffic to your offers, there's plenty of justification for the $50 price tag.
A bargain even.

Ben,
Does it work, does it do what it is supposed to do, have there been any major computer breakthroughs that is not taking advantage of and the answers are yes, yes and no.
When you look at the amount of development work that must have gone into this program, quite frankly, it's a gift.

Salvia,

" have there been any major computer breakthroughs that is not taking advantage of [?]"

It's up to you whether you'd call it a *breakthrough* or not, but Adobe Character Animator is one solution that captures data from your face using a webcam. There's also been some work done using the Kinect, & I expect there'll be more of this sort with Intel's new camera [e.g. used for Windows 10 Hello] once it becomes more common. Might also check out FaceRig on Steam. And you'll find similar stuff from a few companies [e.g. Autodesk] using Google.

mike,
A few days ago there was a program on this site that had absolutely no development costs just an interface on top of a mediocre component. It cost $40!
Bob obviously has no inkling of the cost of development and apparently considers its age of great importance.
The Kinect came out in 2010 the nearest thing I can think of as a breakthrough.

I've been aiding in the design of a site; it's been going on for 18 months, I estimate the development costs to be around $200,000, this is without the costs of development programmes as they are using open source.

Costs vary greatly and without an understanding it is probably best not to comment.

TK, amusing that you and some others believes they can pressure this platform to change a policy because you don't like it. The stuff on here daily is FREE! This platform receives ZERO revenue from any of us and I doubt are concerned that some of us don't like what version of whatever they allow their clients (who pays them MONEY) to offer to be given away. If we don't like that this is not the company's latest version, we can just not download install it.

My guess is this company is offering this version in hopes that it will impress enough people enough that a percentage of them will decide to invest in a current version upgrade. To persons where this software will make their working/business lives easier, its a good bet on their part.
I know many video marketers who can make great use of this software and will consider it a good thing to have and will likely consider upgrading to the current version as a tax deductible expense of their business.

Now let's see how many negatives this post can collect.

Brilliant news, been looking forward to see if g.a.o.t.d could secure this one. From Reallusion the same people behind Iclone and face filter, offered earlier this year, you can use the same account used for iclone5 to obtain the serial no. Installed Win 10 64 bit, you can select the install location, which is helpful if you have a preference, or 2nd hdd as this is a large(ish) install. You can export certain creations from iclone, into CrazyTalk and much more, there are tutorials and resources available. This will probably take me a while to really master it's full capabilities, but I am really looking forward to doing so. Thank you G.A.O.T.D, a refreshing addition to my software collection. Win Xp (sp2/3), Vista, 7, 8 and running on win 10 for me, 32 and 64 bit, should work on most systems, I am running it on a laptop no issues. Thanks, again!!

Reply to HUNG: I must admit that I thought it I would not get the serial number either at first; after creating your account, you have to go back to the first page (where you first created your account) to log into your new account; a window will then pop up for you to complete and get your serial number which must be inserted into your newly set up account by going back to the dashboard to register. This must be done after you verify your e-mail account and obtain a new account with them. Hope this makes sense to you.

jane,
When I first started the procedure listed in the read me file that came with the download; I copied and pasted the link to create the account into my IE browser; it took me to a page wherein I had to submit info (don't like doing this); in turn, after clicking on submit; they sent me an e-mail wherein I had to click on that link to verify my e-mail address. This took me to another page indicating Welcome; I now have the account but nothing was there indicating a serial number. What I failed to state was that I did all of the above by new tabs at the top of my browser; I then clicked on the first tab and was able to continue with that first page wherein I then obtained the serial number. I would suggest that you go back to the Read Me file; copy and paste that link into your browser to continue that process after you create your account with Realusion. GAOD states that the serial number will appear on the same page after you create your account. This is not so; you have to return to that original page after creating your account to obtain the serial number. By the way, you are getting the standard version with this download and the only thing the serial number gives you is upgrading your account with Realusion from Basic to Preimium; the software remains Standard. I have not had time to play with the program as yet so I hope this frustration in obtaining the software is removed by loving the program!! Hope this helps you.

jane, you need to go to this page
http://www.reallusion.com/event/CTA1Std/giveawayoftheday_CTA.html

There you can find the "Log in with your Reallusion Member Account to Get your Serial Number" button. It took me a while to figure it out as well but now it worked.

Mardel,

Actually the serial number upgrades this software from BASIC to STANDARD not Premium.

Graphicool1,
If you re-read my comment to Jane up above you will see that I stated it upgrades the account to Premium; not the software.

Installed easily on Windows 10 64 bit. As an existing Reallusion member, registration was very straightforward.

A quick play around suggests that this has quite a steep learning curve, especially, or particularly, as I'm used to Anime Studio and Muvizu - although please be aware that I am NOT making any comparisons!

I shall definitely keep this one and try to discover its strengths and see how it will cater for some of my needs - it will certainly offer a different style of animation, which is always good.

Okay, after jiggling and using a few rolls of duct tape I discovered that once you register do not click the email confirmation , instead go back to the link that you used in the readme txt.. go down to the bottom and click submit.. the serial number will appear.. now install the program and enter this number then either follow the readme txt or go to email and then click confirmation.. enter serial number there and it should be good to go. Quite complicated but hey, it's a GOTD freebie..
