This program will help to design and print a professional business card. The interface of the program has been designed in such a way that even a beginning user will not have problems with using the program. The process of designing is based on inserting ready for use elements accessible in the program such as figures, images and the background, and freely shifting them on the prepared project.

Another advantage of the program is the possibility of saving data about a company or people so that it can be used later while designing a business card. The program uses templates which you can prepare on your own, or you can use ready models , templates of business cards accessible in it. There are 750 examples of business card templates in the program.

Additional business card templates can be downloaded here.

The attributes of the program:

  • operating jpg, bmp, wmf, png, tiff and more graphic formats;
  • a dozen or so effects which can be used while working on all objects (text, image, backgrounds) for example: shadows, textures, sepia, gradients and others;
  • export to high resolution (300 DPI, 600 DPI) pdf, jpg, tiff, bmp graphic file;
  • the appearance of the interface can be changed;
  • convert and export to CMYK (with ICC profiles);
  • support right to left languages (like arabic, hebrew);
  • support unicode;
  • print on both sides of the paper (duplex printing);
  • 400 supported business card paper for ink jet and laser printers, from Avery, APLI, Hisago, Sigel, A-One, Printec and other manufacturers.

System Requirements:

Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8; Memory 512MB; Hard drive space 200 MB; languages supported: English, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, French, Norwegian, Swedish, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Russian, Bulgarian, Farsi (Persian), Serbian, Romanian, Croatian, Arabic, Bosnian

Only two comments:
1. Cliparts supplied with the program should be in some vector format (wmf etc.), not in a bitmap format (png in this case). Bitmap formats are poorly scalable and may give poor final quality. Exporting to (E)PS/PDF won't fix the poor quality in any way. If the fonts are exported to (E)PS/PDF also as bitmaps, it's just a toy for children, not a software for commercial use.
2. The program installer is really prepared for "stricly personal use". Templates are located in a user Documents folder (should be in All Users\Documents), so installing on a USB flash drive won't make the program fully portable.
Recommendation: Play a little with the program to learn what exactly you need, then follow JohnE's #49 advice.

Hi,

My memory is that the program from Cam Development is very good, Business Card Designer Plus, and I own an older license that may still be good for the current version. (It was, the last I checked, they last a long time.)

And, by memory. that this may be on a similar high level. I like to have 2 good biz card programs loaded, so this download is a yes-go. There are many programs a notch or three behind.

I was able to download, activate, and run the program, but it looks like the only way to print cards without a watermark is to purchase a license. Looks like a great program but is really a demo version. Did I miss something?

I used an earlier version of todays giveaway to create some biz cards for a family member & printed them onto magnetic card-stock. The cards turned out well and todays giveaway made it easy.
However, I used version 3.92 of BusinessCardsMX. Todays version (4.73) comes with less Clipart, less backgrounds and also less skins for the program interface (aka themes). Why, Mojosoft?
I had 3.92 installed and upgraded to todays GAoTD BUT I saved the "cliparts", "backgrounds" and "skins" folders from the earlier version & then added their contents to version 4.73. The new version can use/access the older versions clipart and backgrounds just fine. And the skins/themes seemed to slow the new 4.73 version a little at first but then everyhing was okay.
Here's a couple screenshots of BusinessCardsMX 4.73 with version 3.92 backgrounds and skins(Themes) being used:
http://i50.tinypic.com/2qxm2rt.jpg
http://i50.tinypic.com/wvbpet.jpg
I think the latest versions background pic choices are boring and look like cellphone wallpapers in comparison to version 3.92. Also even my favourite skins like "Winter2003" & the rusty metal look of "FalloutStyle" (yes probably inspired by the post-apocalyptic RPG) of version 3.92 are not amounst the boring few included with todays 4.73. (in the two screenshot links above)
Mojosoft: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
I'm sure getting less for their money than earlier versions had would not be appreciated by those that paid for your software ..unless some changelog could be found & showed newly added features to offset all that was removed perhaps?

Easy install and activation. Gave it a brief test. I like the interface and graphics look sharp. Lots of options. More free templates available at the Mojosoft site. Will likely keep it even though I have various well known DTP software and programs that can also produce business cards. This one loads quickly and "gets down to business". As usual I appreciate comments by others. Always informative or at least entertaining. EFB

I cannot install. First I get a message that says "Successfully activated". Then a Norton AntiVirus pop-up informs about strange behaviour of a newly installed programme and tells that the programme has been uninstalled to protect the system. I have never before got a message like this and I wonder if the "Setup.gcd" might be the cause.

Hello,
Am trying to add my text to the card (Business Cards MX), and I cannot find how to enter my text (name, address, phone etc.) into the spaces provided below the card in the main window, it just stays with the grey name places.

I don't mind typing the text directly into the blank card, but am not able to do even that.
Tried to find about entering text in the help file without success.

Please help,
Thanks,
Eldad

#40, harpo2448 and anyone who uses WinXP just like us.
I also installed this software as administrator and then failed to run it on my usual (limited rights) account.
Reinstalling BusinessCards MX within your regular account does solve the problem, as this setup apparently doesn't require administrative rights.
By the way, thumbs up for the developer and the GOTD! Thanks for today's excellent offering.

I have an old Brother printer that loads from the bottom. It was never designed for heavy card stock or resume paper (if anyone still uses that), but I have found that if you put one sheet of heavy paper in at a time and kind of give it a bit of an upward curl before hand, it works perfectly...although some times it makes some odd noises when it first draws the paper in. I think the thing is around 6 years old and still works good. Hope this helps someone.

and yes #51...you will go to jail...don't download this. Geez.

I remember a huge download size from version 3.92, and so I went through each folder, and deleted all the images I knew I didn't want to keep. So you can (greatly) reduce the size that way.

For those who don't wish to print large quantities of business cards on their own computers, just design the card in MX3 and then use Vistaprint (or another vendor) and import the card, or copy it onto a CD or flash drive and take it to your local printer.

Hehe... I see tip on top of Idea informer: "add export to eps for use w. professional print shops".

There is Export for PSD or EPS: when export file select DPI, and under "Save as..." window select a file type. Last item is PSD, 13th item is Post Script Level 2, but can export to PDF too...

This is great program, just try it, before write a tip. ;-)

Installed fine on Win 7, 64 Home Premium. Having always used Print Shop for all my business cards and flyers, I thought I'd give this a try and come up with feedback for the publisher. So far, I have found that it has a plentiful amount of options included, the graphics are nice, and the fact we can add our own graphics is great too. For the person looking for the "bleed", you can add as much or as little as you want, in the project settings tab on the right side of the window, down at the bottom of the tab.

There are only 2 things I would suggest:
1) Lower the price, as PrintShop Deluxe has so much more for only 20 bucks more. 30 bucks is a tad too much for just business cards.
2) Keep "English" standard. There is UK English (and American English...not listed in this program), but in a program like this, we type out what we want anyways, so a distinction isn't needed, only causes confusion.

For anyone who doesn't have a need to make business cards, making just 'gesture' cards to hand out are nice also.(For example a card that says "Smile")
When I sold AVON, I made business card sized coupons, and small thank you cards for my customers as well.

Card stock papers are made especially for home printers. Or, you can use just plain white paper. Even colored paper can make your cards stand out from the rest! Imagination is a wonderful thing! :)

This program does what it says, and does it with many options, if one just takes the time to learn the program. Big thumbs up from me!

Thank you GOTD and Mojosoft!

Today marks the third time that MojoSoft has offered us this title -- again, thanks! I just installed today's version on a second/older machine that already had prior version 3.9.2 installed on 8/24/2008.

But before installing today's version, I checked the old one. It took up 41 MB in its Program Files folder, and 30 MB for the templates stored under My Documents for the installing account user.

(It was a 62.6 MB download back then, and yes, there were some complaints about the size, duh! Read about it in the link above "Publisher: Mojosoft Software")

Unlike today's version, it WOULD launch in accounts other than the one used to install it. However, since those other accounts lacked the folder with all the templates, it was only somewhat functional.

Also, if run in those other accounts that version 3.9.2 would not exit by any means other than killing the process with Windows Task Manager. Somehow it even prevented logging off the account which usually displays the automatic "...this process will not end, would you like to terminate it..." message!

Installing today's version will remove the older version's folders in the process (at least under Program Files). That's probably not a bad thing assuming this newer one has more templates judging from the larger download size.

However, you may want to make copies of any new/special/custom items/photos/clip art you're currently using in case the "upgrade" does not preserve them.

Just a comment. maybe someone can suggest a 'fix'. (I will also post on forum).
For the past several months all the giveaways that I have downloaded will not install on my main PC, (Dell Precision T3400/Win 7 64-Bit). I get an error msg stating that 'the file is corrupt and to download it again'. I know it's a pblm with my main PC and not the pgms I download becuase they'll (GAOTD) install on my other PCs just fine. I strongly suspect it is the 'gcd file ' because I have NO pblm with downloads from other sites. Even if I download it using a diff PC and xfer it to my main PC to install I get the same results.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, I don't want to have to fromat and start all over. Thamks. And thanks to GAOTD for all the work thwy do to provide these pgms for us!

@33 The .gcd program is there to support the .exe installer. Simply run the installer and it will take care of the rest.

The first thing that struck me about this program is the download size; over 95 MB, man that's a huge program and 200 MB of disk space required. Of course that's due to all the template graphics included in the program. But, think about it; if you're going to make a quality business card don't you want your own business logo on the card?

The paper stock size has already been mentioned, and it is a valid argument; many printers being used by most home users either won't support this stock size or will find it very difficult to feed it through.

And what about ink cost. You need to factor in ink cost. With ink cost on the rise it will be very expensive to print your own business cards. And you can never have enough business cards, it's the least expensive advertising you have available to you, other than word of mouth. Word of mouth; that's where Customer Service factors in.

So, you have to install this huge program on your computer, then spend countless hours fiddling till you get exactly what you want and then maybe it's not exactly what you want, and you're going to want to use your companies logo anyway, not one of the preloaded templates, then buy the correct stock, assuming your printer will handle it, and then buy enough printer ink to print all the cards you will need. In the end you will find that this is a very time consuming and expensive task. And I am speaking from experience.

Alternative? Find a local vendor that prints business cards; if they print flyers they do business cards too or know who does. In most cases they have the experience to create a professional grade card that you will be please with and can do it less expensively that you can do it yourself. It frees up your time to work your business and costs you much less in the long run. And they don't print the card until you are totally satisfied with the final product.

If you are determined to do it yourself any popular Word Processor will create business cards and you load in whatever graphics you need. But I'm telling you from experience you will find it much less expensive to have it done professionally; you will be much happier with the end result, and it will free up your time to do more important things.

Yes, I should be reviewing the software, but this is one instance where I feel this type of software will end up costing you more in time and money than it's worth.

Last but not least; shop around to get your best deal and best outcome.

On the "suggestion box" of the present page, I suggested to be able to export as PDF /X-1A (cf. supra). This is completely different than the "export to PDF" of the software: in PDF /X, the texts must be embedded as fonts, or better, converted to vectors, instead of being included in the bitmap as part of the image.

I also regret that you can export RGB at 1200dpi, but CMYK only at 600dpi.

Otherwise, this software is an excellent software, which has many graphical refinements. I have been using it for months.

There's a zillion reason why one should produce cards for themselves, exclusive of one's business. Just leaving a friendly meeting with someone with "call me here" is just plain helpful, so as to not have to scramble for a scrap of paper/pencil, that never seems handy. You gotta a Life, make it known to others!

For printing .pdfs, no need to Export anything, as another had wailed about. Simply have already-installed a freeware PDF printing utility (cutewriter is mine), and print it out that way at whatever .dpi one requires.

Otherwise, an excellent GUI, efficient tool arrangements, and the price isn't "too high" in 2012+, unless one wishes to deny a living to someone. Its download size is too-much for only those still on dial-up, and that definitely establishes you have no "business" usage in mind :-) You try writing such a good Program!

Installed OK on my XP SP3 Home system, using the administrator account (as usual). Works fine -- nice program! -- thanks MojoSoft and GOTD.

However, I noticed that it was set up for use only by the installing account. I would prefer that these GOTD offers always offer to install either for the single user account or for all users.

When attempting to use it in a non-admin account (after copying the "BusinessCards MX" folder to the "All Users" Start Menu) the program would briefly launch, then quit without displaying anything (per Windows Task Manager).

That renders it useless for anyone else using this computer besides me.

At least with the old-style "non-wrapper" GOTD installation method (provided the application would at least launch) I could usually run the Activate.exe file, when available, in every user account to get them all registered.

The large file size (95.3MB) is no doubt due to the large number of templates and images included with the program (750 templates). The program will output in 300dpi and 600dpi, requiring hi-res images.

This also accounts for the price tag. Hundreds of royalty-free images are not cheap.

It installed easily, but it's 110.5 mb big; yeah, I know it's got a lot of templates, hence the size.
Also, the software is old because the calendars you can create contain 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012, with a couple 2013...on the plus side, you can change the look of it with the different skins included.
A mixed bag on this one...you decide.

@20 phlypp:

Likely that both things are true: it tried to install, seemed to have gone through the process, but your AV program (if set on silent - deal with problems without bothering your) has intercepted the installation. What GAOTD or GGAOTD use this type of wrapper (most of the installation program sitting in the .gcd file), then Norton and others think the setup.exe is acting like malware.

Although the is an outside change something odd could go on, after several years of GAOTD and GGAOTD freebies, I have NEVER had anything bad installed with the offerings.

I personally had to turn Norton AV off for the time it took to install (I left the firewall up to catch any odd communication) Installed fine the second time.

Commercial use means you're making money from it. Plain & simple. The large size is because of all the templates & design art. Make them for your own use & don't SELL them. Come on guys...starting to sound like tin foil hat time again. Unless of course the large size is because the government & the aliens are trying to hide things on your computer??

I like it, big or small, quite a bit of work went into it, with many templates included, the interface is also appealing to me.

But I can tell that the Programmer is not really a printer, in some or in most instances you would need what is called a double cut between the cards, so that you do not trim into the opposing images next to each other, as the 10 up or whatever imposition appears at the moment. If you have ever worked in a commercial print shop like I have and did my trade, you will know what I really mean, also there is no real bleed off the card image so that you can impose a single image to your own imposition so to speak for a double cut, if I missed that setting somewhere, I would like to know where you can do it.

Other than this, I give it a Thumbs up for what it is worth.
