Installed without problem on my desktop PC (XP sp3) and my portable (Win7).
I had to authorize transfers in both firewalls for this to work.
In my opinion, it lacks of reviews on the net or help in the program in this regard and with regard to safety in particular.
However, the program seems to work great.
Thanks !

I check here daily for some very good software offers. If the software runs on all my computers I buy the software. The main reason I come here is to read the comments and opinions that are submitted. The suggestions of alternate offers are often a better choice.

Thank ou GAOTD

Many people are comparing Beyond Share to applications which work completely differently. Beyond Share is push-oriented, not pull-oriented. I like it for the security, I'm not going to share folders on my business computer, nor am I interested in synchronization. For the paranoid, it works completely within your LAN, and if you're worried, that's what firewalls are for. You specify the target for operations, and it doesn't even send your clipboard contents unless you tell it to. I did find it a bit cumbersome. Between an XP and a Win7 machine, neither found the other. I entered the IP addresses manually, which it remembers. Of course, there is some initial firewall configuration, but that's a one-time deal. I find it useful for what it does, but I do think that it should be much cheaper, since I will rarely use it. I didn't have any problems shutting it down completely, I wonder what others are doing.

For sharing media, there are much better solutions than this. First, Youtube works great for videos of course lol. Upload all your videos to Youtube right away and never worry about where they exist again. For sharing photos, you might as well use Facebook lol... And for sharing music, use Tomahawk. You don't have to worry about where your files exist, just as long as you have a Google account you can connect to any of your friends/families' libraries, and just search for the song from then on. There is no downloading to worry about; just streaming. Plus, Tomahawk lets you search for and play music from Youtube, Last.fm, Spotify, and more.

There is no such thing as "cloud storage." There is storage on some third parties' hard drives that they make available via their servers.

Those who store their files "in the cloud" are fools and idiots. This program is aimed at people who aren't.

We have TWO testifiers that the following is NOT true:

Earlier, Lewis Tian, Beyond Share Support, wrote, "... It continues working in background if you minimize it. But it doesn’t reside in memory if click “X” — July 9th, 2012 at 10:12 am ..."

Lewis, if you want system information, please contact the two of us who testify that the program does NOT leave memory when clicking [X] -- for me, the last BeyondShare standing in the network hangs, but I CAN kill it with SysInternals Process Explorer, and no other way.

Installed & registered on two computers -- neither one "sees" the other; tried "refresh" w/o success.
What else can I do to even *try* this out?
It looks like a handy utility but if I can't get it to work will uninstall later today.

Those of you who mention the resident sharing features in Windows. They are very problematic when using with various versions of Windows. Among many other probs from version to version.
However, I'd rather deal with the probs or limitations of free ones then pay $30. If I gotta pay that much, for sum that's free elsewhere. I better be able to install on all my comps n get free upgrades for life.
Course that's based on not being able to install it yet.
But u should def drop the price to $5 with free upgrades for 10 yrs n able to install in all my comp.
That wud increase sales n word of mouth advertising exponentially.

Fubar I would like to thank you for your comment. It was informative and may make my decision to try this application. Once in a while I assist family with drivers, programs, etc. This will certainly help.

Saying that. Those of you who are comparing the application to other software, it's up to the developer to make their program free or charge. Have you decided to try this program to be able to completely compare them. If comments were left like Fubar's and Morgan's, I believe this site would be that much better.

There's my 2 cents! Not that anyone asked!

This a neat little app, uses a tiny 12MB(PWS)memory AND, unlike many of the suggestions above (DropBox, Briefcase, etc., and most of the usually spot-on "Giovanni" :-) suggestions)IN ADDITION to file-transferring, this app allows you share your CLIPBOARD... on-the-fly!

That alone makes it a winner for me.

Thanks!

Q. re: Is there a size limit on the text, tables, images or other files and folders that can be moved between computers with this software? Can it be used to sync all files (especially data) between two computers? Thank you in advance for responding to these two questions, the answer to which could make or break my decision on this software. I have two KVM'd multicore AMD computers, both running 64-bit Win7 Home Premiumm but having different CPU's and Mobo's, if that info makes a difference. I do not have NAS, so this would be better than swapping of external drives in order to move data between the systems ("sneaker-netting"). Also, is the clipboard transfer limited to only the most recently saved or copied item, or can this program transfer the clipboard history too?

Downloaded and installed without any problems. One thing that I didn't read anyone mention was that this program needs to be installed on all computers that is on the same LAN. Once the program is installed on all the computers it works very well. I used it after installing the program on my computer, which uses windows 7 and installed it on my husband's computer which uses Vista and shared a music file with no problems. It was also fast in the transfer. As for $30 for a price tag, I think that may be a bit high when you do have a lot of free alternatives that are out there and do the same thing that this does do.

Hi - Yes, there are other ways to do this type of thing. Yes, they are free and have giga-space that you do not have to pay for. Yes, interface is not (yet) the greatest. (BTW, I am grateful for some of the competing stuff mentioned as I did not know all of it.)

But, this is a neat little product regardless of these things. Plus, it has ways of organizing things that are not present in some of the other competing things. Plus it is totally private.

The Softie sharing options are not-so-Softie for the inexperienced users. Plus, the STUPID MS briefcase is sometimes impossible to figure out ("It is the latest?" "What computer is it from?" "Is it the latest file?" "Did I update? What happened to the latest file?" "Should I kill myself now or later?")

This product is simple and leaves no guessing. I say: Needs work but neat!

#9 The advantage of this program is that it allows you share your clipboard in addition to file sharing.

Works well between a XP machine and Windows 7 machine. Microsoft sharing can be problematic between different operating systems. If you are having problems with file & print sharing via the OS this could be a Godsend for you.

As others have mentioned there are many free options that do the exact same thing.

Another program that works the same as this one but is a few dollars cheaper is Simidude. Unlike the current offering when you close Simidude it completely closes and nothing is left running in memory.

Seagate Dashboard, Pogoplug, and for those who don't care about putting your stuff on someone elses system, skydrive, dropbox, edrive, etc.. I us pogoplug to provide my own cloud to family or friends I want to provide access to. It's safe and fast. Though this program seems to have a use to those who don't have the inhouse storage or network bandwidth, it's not a keeper. I give it a thumbs up for use but down for need. Thanks to the G Team and the developer.

All it does is send the clipboard, and allow drag-and-drop to the receiving computer's desktop or other location at the control of the receiving computer, NOT at the control of the sending computer.

You cannot "use" files from another computer, they have to drag-and-drop them to you -- no file sharing.

When you "drag and drop" a file or folder onto another computer's icon, the receiving computer pops up a inquiry "where do you want to drop the files?", and the person at that receiving computer has to accept them landing on their desktop or browse their computer for their chosen alternate location, and hit [ Enter ] to complete the drop.

FREE Microsoft Garage Mouse Without Borders does more, allowing one mouse and keyboard to control multiple computers on a LAN (but you have to be able to SEE each screen in order for this to be effective):

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=27589

But NONE of this is file sharing.

I want to have each computer on my LAN do a different file sharing task, such as one doing only Installs, another doing only Music, another doing only Docs, and so on -- the challenge is to enable disparate operating systems (all Microsoft!) to see and share with equal powers ... any clues?

I am definitely NOT the most "computer savvy" person, however, I feel I DO know a thing or two about computers etc ...
So, my question is .. Can't you just send a email and do a attachment with what you want to send or just download a "share" icon on your computer and share that way?
Please leave a response and let me know ... Thanks for reading this!

The manufacturer's website is very simplistic (in fact it's downright AMATEURISH!), with only a single brief front page that doesn't really offer up much information about the software itself, except for a couple of situations where it might possibly be used. I found it somewhat disturbing that the "Support" section consists of only two things - a link to send an email to the manufacturer, and a link to a support forum (which renders up an error message saying that the forum "isn't currently available!").

I recommend using this software at your own risk. Although they claim to have an office in a strip mall in San Diego, their home office is apparently in Beijing, Peoples' Republic of China. While there's nothing inherently wrong with that per se, I wouldn't install this software on any computer that contains any sensitive information because of the potential security risk involved. After all, the purpose of this software is "sharing" information between computers - so how are we to know for sure that the information we transmit using this software is going ONLY to the intended recipient, or whether the software "shares" other data on our system - with or without our direct knowledge or consent?

I'm not saying there's necessarily anything nefarious actually going on with this software, but simply pointing out the POTENTIAL security risk that inherently exists when running this type of software - regardless of its (the software's) country of origin. Like it or not, the United States isn't always on the best of diplomatic terms with China - although China IS bankrolling a significant portion of our National Debt, so I suppose a certain amount of deference to them is in order, at least to SOME degree).

Assuming that everything is on the up and up, this software could come in handy for simple data sharing between PCs, although I can think of at least a dozen other methods to accomplish file sharing through a local intranet, or even via the internet for that matter. As such, I certainly wouldn't pay $29.95 for such a software, especially when there are so many low-cost (and NO-cost) alternatives available.

That having been said (or at least written), I think I'll pass on this one. Thanks anyhow, GAOTD Team! You can't win 'em all!

hmm ...installed, had to ctrl-alt-del to close browser pages it opened. all running now. it finds THIS computer, but not my husband's. we've been wanting to transfer all the data off this computer to his so i can format this one. this one is running vista home premium, his is running win 7 and it always wants permission to do anything. maybe that's why it can't find his on the network ? also i'm wireless on this one, do we have to be physically connected to the router to find each other ?

If "Beyond Share" looks interesting to you, because you are regularly dealing with two or more PCs side-by-side at the same time, then the freeware "Synergy" at http://synergy-foss.org/ might be for you, too.

Synergy doesn't help with file transfers (but as others wrote, this can easily be done with Windows shares), but it also gives you easy transfer of the clipboard content from one PC to the other -- and it helps share mouse and keyboard. Very handy!

This GAOTD is not a bad app but the following two FREE (and always UPDATABLE) APPS do the same thing for FREE:

- PORTABLE DITTO 3.18.24.0

With this awesome FREE tool, any type of data that can be put on the clipboard (text, images, html, custom formats) is ENCRYPTED when sent over the network. And of course it can also keep multiple computer’s clipboards in SYNC!!

- SUVI’S GLOBAL CLIPBOARD 0.3

This is a very cool and pretty unknown FREE APP that automatically syncronizes your copied & pasted data from one computer to another by using Peer-to-Peer technology!!

http://www.suvi.org/projects/globalclipboard.html

Other excellent FREE clipboard tools are also the following ones:

- CLIPBOARD MASTER 2.3.2 (it stores texts, pictures and files copied to the clipboard with an impressive array of options)

- CLIPBOARD MANAGER 1.0.0.0 (it stores TEXT & IMAGES with ease)

- GET PLAIN TEXT 1.0 (it removes unwanted formatting from the clipboard in less than one second!!)

http://clipdiary.com/getplaintext/?s=internetshortcut&utm_nooverride=1

- CLIP PAD 2.0 (it copies text, images, HTML and even sections of Word, Excel and PowerPoint docs through a powerful drag&drop function)

http://www.clippad995.com/index.html

- CLIPBOARDIC (it shares the clipboard data between multiple computers on your local network)

So sorry guys, but there's absolutely no point of charging 30 bucks for an app like this!!

Enjoy!!

Beyond Share is NOT a cloud storage service like Dropbox. It’s a tool that lets you send files or share clipboards with your other computers in same LAN.

And, to answer the first question. Yes, you can setup security code for all your computers. Just click configuration button and switch to “Security” tab.

Lewis Tian – Beyond Share support

As already noted above, Windows already does this. Even versions as far back as 98 have this ability built-in. This software would only add a running process that is not needed.

Microsoft provides a service in all of the operating systems called "file and printer sharing". Simply enabling this service, appears to me, to make your software redundant. What, then, does Beyond Share do that file and printer sharing doesn't do?

oh yeah, also forgot, there is one other simple way to share files across local computers, if you make a new briefcase (I don't think hardly even know it exsits.)
by right-clicking anywhere and goto New then briefcase.
then you can put it onto any other computer, (it doesn't matter how) then you can put files in it and start syncing them.

you can do the same thing with windows itself... just right-click on any folder and click share, then goto the other computer and goto
Start>Computer>and at the top click Map Network drive, then enter
\\name of the computer\folder
"example: \\desktop\music" and just hit next.

or an also super easy way would be to use a program such as Teamviewer, and do a File Transfer, either way you'll get the fastest possible speed as long as its over a LAN (everything is connected to the router).

This could actually be a useful program. Installation was clean, uses standard open-source libraries for intranet access. This is for use on your LAN, the license covers all of your computers. There is a default port which you can change, and a security code which you can set. This could be handy for the very rare occasions when I use my XP computer, I like the clipboard transfer capability. It takes forever to fire up my XP box, so I'm not going to install on it and test transfers until the morning, but I'm not expecting any problems. I noticed that there is a Debug Mode option when launching Beyond Share.

? to test this out to see if it can work.
is the registration included tied to only one pc
or can it be installed on more then one, because
the intent for your product would be useless to
set up on one machine.
also on your web page it says no password or file
sharing needs to be set up but that could led to
system intrusion if not protected for a internet
connected computer.
also, i have networked computers using the built in
operating software in both Microsoft and Linux and
found data transfer to be slow; will your product
preform the transfer or copy faster.
last thing, can you set up a password if a user wanted to?
thanks
