You gotta be kidding me!

found this just in time to use this for ten of 12 of their paid software programs for one year, and now I have a complete video, audio, and document and software editing suite in addition to my other software!

Hooray!

Used CCleaner to make sure no damages to registry, and made sure they do not check internet nor start up when computer start up and only load for updates when I use em.

Thank you for the timing of this could not have been better! :-D

This Is nice. The UI looks like the very expensive Camtasia software. And it looks like it does the same things. Installed easily on Win 8.1 64 bit. I can't wait to try it.

i downloaded this. it was a bit more complicated than some. i like to download to both my desktop and laptop, never sure which machine i will use. this company would not allow me to do this, they said i need to buy a license. this is the first time this has happened. what this does for me is make it far less likely that i will purchase a license.

Thank you... been anxiously awaiting this one! Downloaded installation, installed fine on Win7/64. Registered and activated no problem. Tried one video creation, with overlays, music, and transformations.. saved as project; then returned to import project, edited and added, exported to avi and played back... all worked great! Happy camper here! ; ) Thank you AVS and GOTD!

I went to their webpage and for Minimum System Requirements it is asking for a Processor: AMD / Intel Core 2 Duo compatible at 3 GHz or higher ... Well, that puts me out of the game. I am still running a laptop with 2.0 GHz intel core 2 duo. Oh Well!

In reference to comment #11, I moved my entire AVS suite to a new computer with no difficulty. In my experience, AVS customer service allowed me to do this with no complaint, giving me a new license key for the new machine.

Their license key scheme ties the registration to the hardware ID of any particular computer. All I needed to do was uninstall the suite from the old machine and install the suite on the new machine with the new key.

As for the AVS Video Editor itself, there are more comprehensive editors at reasonable cost such as Sony's Movie Studio, but I find this product to be extremely capable for most needs.

For the record, I have had nothing but sterling customer service from AVS; they even keep the entire history of your customer service transcripts for you to review at will.

I have had the suite (lifetime license) since 2009. I consider the price of a lifetime license a genuine bargain for what you get, I bought a second license for my laptop for this very reason.

In general, I find AVS software products are updated fairly regularly and support for "obsolete" devices such as Archos portable video players is retained from version to version.

I encourage anyone to try out this offer. You can't lose anything and getting an entire year to try out a full version of the editor I consider a generous offer.

Hi All,

GOTD is a great site, I check it daily not for the offers only but for the comments with free alternative tips. Thank you for them! :)

I can share one tip with you: for video editing I prefer GoPro Studio, professional, freeware, easy to use and most imprtantly: stable and bug free.

http://shop.gopro.com/EMEA/softwareandapp/gopro-studio/GoPro-Studio.html

I had stability problems with Machete.
Shotcut is a bit too complex.
Thanx for the other tips!

Seems I get "TICKED" too much - don't know how many GAOTD freebies could "activate' or even get to "comments"
BUT downloaded this one twice, tried to activate 3 times, and Finally did....then a wrinkle....trying to drag videos to start....NEVER happened in dozen of tries...not exactly stupid but there must be a secret and they won't drag to start editing.....

Final option....used REVO and saved me more frustration....life's too short...
PS - been editing Videos for 20 years, not a newbie.

I have used this software for more than 5 years. The only thing I know about the company is what is on their website, and I am not affiliated in any way with them. My experience with this software began when I found that I needed to trim the ends of a video, which is a pretty easy task for a video editor. I had no experience in video editing. I can read directions, and do not mind a learning curve if the help file is well written. (In my experience, well written help files are a rarity.) I already had multiple pieces of video software on my computer; some I had purchased as a part of a software bundle, and some I had purchased with the intent to "learn when I had the time." All of a sudden, I needed to do this very simple video editing, and had never used the software I had that could do it. After opening various pieces of software, I found that I had to mark the areas, but it wasn't clear whether I was marking the areas to be deleted, or the areas to keep. Because time was short, I did a search for video editing software, and found today's (previous version, no doubt). It did exactly what it said it would - no fuss, no muss. Instructions were clear and easy to understand. You experienced video editors may think this is unimportant, but for novices like I was, that was significant. I still use this software; even though I keep other video software on my computer (including Adobe's), this is my go-to for video editing. (Disclaimer: I'm not creating cinematic masterpieces, just the simple stuff.)

I was using XP at the time I began to use this. The ONLY problem I have encountered with it was a fussy install on a Win7 Home Premium computer, but that may have been the particular computer in question. The problem wasn't repeated with Win7Pro or Ultimate installations.

Not a fan of time-limited software? Me neither, but when I bought this, the difference between the one year and the lifetime cost was so close, I just bought the lifetime, and yes, you do get all the software, some of which I use occasionally. It all does what it says it will do troublefree though, and there's not a lot more that I ask of software. I think that if you give this software a fair trial, you will like it.

@Giovanni (post #8),
I'm still curious about the supposed merits of Shotcut, but it is rather picky about your video card and video driver, refusing to run if it does not like them, so I haven't managed to check it out. I'm not willing to change my hardware (on any of 3 computers), just to find out.

I bought the software package several years ago that includes today's video editor. I updated it in May 2014 and today's version looks same 6.5.1.246. I have never used all the softwares included in my lifetime purchase, however, most have worked very well, except for their audio editor that has failed on my computer repeatedly even with their support - no worry as found a couple free ones that worked better and reliably. This video editor works okay, kind of slow and awkward and not intuitive, requiring an effort to use features. Over past four years I have tried different kinds of editing tricks, including green screen. I find inserting and placing titles complicated, as well as trimming and inserting cuts. When using it to create a video slide show it worked better than another popular program that limited me to 100 slides per show. However, today's video editor will not let me set slide timing unless I set duration - in seconds per slide - before dragging slides on timeline. I still use it in spite of how cumbersome, and can recommend the suite because it provides so many useful apps from complex to simple like making ringtones.

I downloaded this last time it was on offer, and installed it easily on my Windows XP machine.

Pros:
Easy to use interface - perfect for a hobbyist or newbie editor
Lots of neat effects and transitions
Screencapture feature is a nice touch, and not normally included on software of this type.

Cons:
A bit basic for a pro or experienced editor
Only a one year licence.

That said, if you have a short-term project (like I have), AVS Video Editor is a great download. It is fairly easy to use but there is a small learning curve for some of the more advanced features. I think this is fair to say about any software that has functionality beyond copy/paste/insert/delete, no? The interface should be familiar to anyone that has used video editing software before. It's no where near as capable as Pinnacle Studio or Adobe Premiere, but it blows away Windows Movie Maker in nearly every possible way. What are you waiting for...you've got one year from now to finish your project. You better get started!

Since others have offered free alternatives, here is my contribution to this growling list:

Lightworks (http://www.editshare.com/products/lightworks) - Like one of the others mentioned above, the free version is a lightweight version of their full video editing software. But the free version should meet most anyone's needs. If not, you probably should be looking at the full version anyway.

Enjoy. And keep the giveaways coming!

I have been using this for a few years. It has done all I need to do as well as other software they offer. Keep in mind, I'm not sure if they still do it but when I purchased the lifetime license it also covered any other editing software they offered thus I downloaded all of them I thought I could use and the license did in fact work for all of them. So don't think the lifetime price is too high until you see what it covers. :)

Some of the AVS products are really cool, such as the AVS video converter. Which is dead useful for my hobby.

This particular product you aren't going to be getting a $500 product full featured video editor but as far as comparing to other video editors excluding a couple this is probably one of the better editors.

Thank you GAOTD and AVS for hosting this once more.

INstalled and uninstalled on a Windows 8.1 machine successfully without any issues.

It could very likely ( and more than likely was ) but I installed this on a lower end machine so the performance wasn't the best in the world which is understandable. I would assume on a higher end machine this problem wouldn't be there.

It's extremely unlikely this is an English company.
Like so many other GiveAway companies that are typically Russian or Chinese hiding behind anonymous data or, in this case, using a virtual office to appear as if it's something it's not.

Suite B 29 Harley Street London England W1G 9QR
is nothing more than a virtual office presence to obscure the actual location and deceive the unsuspecting.
It's most frequently used for money laundering and fake RX pills.

Caveat emptor, but I would *never* use a credit card to purchase from any company at that address.

I've been using AVS products for years and found them generally easy to use, with most of the features I have needed. The video editor is one of the best for the price. I bought an unlimited licence, currently AUD59 which gives me all updates.
When I had to change computers they gave me a discount so for all they offer it is very cheap.
If you don't require all possible bells and whistles this giveaway should suit you fine.

Further to my post #4, VSDC have improve the help and it is available at the following link;-
http://www.videosoftdev.com/how-to-use-free-video-editor

Had a chance to test the stabilisation function in today's download, it made a considerable difference to a handheld video I had created.
Older people will know that holding a video camera steady can be difficult, as a test I used a small light camera, the results were watchable but only just, using stabilisation in today's download at maximum made a considerable improvement.
It did not totally remove the movement but replaced the shake with an almost imperceptible movement.
That makes it a keeper for me, sadly only for the trial period of a year.

It seems like a decent video editor. I will try it and see how it is.

In the meantime, for those who like to use a great video editor with no trial-time limit, try DaVinci Resolve Lite 11. The "lite" version is only missing a few features and more than enough for most users:

Any freebie king should know about this.

All in all a very good little editor. It is not the easiest handling and the code could need some rework for performance and stability in some cases, but it is a mighty tool if you know how to handle it and if it works. Every thumb up! Thank you very much AVS!!!

The price would be fair, but you CANT change the computer. If you buy a new computer you have to buy a new licence!!!!!

I have not tried this program, but to loose my money if a change my computer.

As the unlimited price is normally 4 times the price for a one-year license, it doesn't make sense to buy the unlimited license and 59$ per year is too much:-)

Addendum to my previous post about game giveaways

I rarely get failed downloads, but, after today's failed attempt at downloading this coming Sunday's game giveaway I decided to try a download manager and after Googling 'download managers' found one that was recommended. It was a Firefox add-on called DownloadThemAll!.

When I went to download the game from the usual download link (I am given access by the owners to download game giveaways before they go live so that I can prepare a review before the game goes live), you are given an extra option to choose the download manager (only if you use Firefox)

Using DownloadThemAll! I was able to download the game much faster. It only took 13 minutes opposed to the 90 plus minutes it would have taken if i'd not used a manager.

The other advantage of using a download manger is that if the download fails, it will retain the download part that you have already downloaded and you are then able to restart the download at the point it was broken.

If you use AOL Datamask, you won't be able to capture anything on your desktop screen. I run 3 monitors. Was easy to drag & resize the capture screen anywhere, any monitor.
Tried shutting down the AOL datamask in the system tray & killing it in Task Manager / Processes, but still won't properly capture a video recording or still shot.
Looks like I would have to uninstall datamask - that's not going to happen...

Prior notice about this weekends game giveaway

Please note that this weekends game giveaway is the largest download we have ever had for a single game, with a size of over 1.5GB. For those with slow internet connections, especially those on dial up, you will need to start downloading the game as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

I would also suggest that those who have had intermittent problems downloading larger games previously, use a download manager. There are free ones readily available. Just Google free download managers. Please do be careful and ensure the site you download from doesn't have loads of confusing download buttons as these are notorious for installing loads of rubbish on your computer. I'm sure someone from the community will post details of a decent download manager.

I have a 60MB broadband connection, that usually gives me around 8MB per second download speeds. I was downloading the game earlier (with no other stress on the download server) and It had taken 35 minutes to download only 549MB of 1.6GB, with a projected time to complete of over 1 hour. Unfortunately the download failed at 695MB so I can see we are going to have problems when many community members will be trying to download this game at any one time.

Downloading late in the day may see you being disappointed. Activation can take place after the giveaway has ended as can downloading, but only if the download has been started before the giveaway ended. Usually we have around an hour after the giveaway to complete registration, sometimes a little longer, but I've never been able to activate after more than 90 minutes.

Also the game has never been given away before and is not available via the usual free game sites such as MyPlayCity, Jenkat Games, Gametop and FreeGamePick. At this time (Thursday morning), there is only one game in the listings, so it's likely that we will only be getting one game this weekend. Usually Sunday

Was already installed and registered on a Win 8.1.2 Pro 64 bit system.
The GiveAway of today has the same checksum as the previous one. It is the identical program

An English company with address&phone&fax:
The company is registered in England and Wales. Company No. 5042565.

This is a rerun of the suddenly disappeared GiveAway of September 30th.

I wrote a comment, that disappeared with the program, too. What a pitty, that I did not save the text.

It is still installed on my PC. Remember that this is a one years license. It will return in one year to trial with a watermark - so unusable.

In short - my experience: a good working solution.

In the previous GiveAway the given key worked worked for all other software from that producer.

11 Tools Suite + Free Upgrades + Free Support!

Buy Now & Use ALL Software without Any Limitations!

Select between 2 subscription types: ...

This offer is still valid, I tested it on a fresh PC.

This means you can download all other programs of this producer, it will be registered and working for one year.

There you will find a place to enter your mail address. Below that you will see "Get license key for 1 year".

I was fortunate enough to get this last time it was offered but quickly withdrawn.
Most of the video editors offered here have been very similar, they do tend to lack the functions of true a video editor and are more useful for creating/enhancing videos with transitions and captions etc.
It is certainly worth getting for its ease-of-use and its functions.

For those of you who need a video editor that will use the "green screen" effect there is a free one available and it is called VSDC and is available at the following link:-
http://vsdc-free-video-editor.software.informer.com/

It is not for the fainthearted, in fact I find it a beast to use and the lack of help is a problem.
YouTube has a few videos that will help you, this is one I particularly liked, look for:-
“VSDC Free Video Editor How to Completely Remove Green Screen”

For most of us and for most of the time today's download is well worth getting, VSDC is more for those of a masochistic nature, which ever you use enjoy!
