When clicking on "Download AllMySongs database 1.3 now", I get the following panel showing up: 502 Bad Gateway, with the following underneath it, nginx/0.5.33. So how can I download this program now? I tried to download from Fotissoftware, it would let me put in Giveawayoftheday on either line, but came back with as not correct Key Code. So I deleted it. A free copy from Fotissoftware would be appreciated through another link directly from them.

C'mon guys, MediaMonkey is the only way to go. I'm a MediaMonkey Gold user with a Lifetime license and I've never looked back. The free version offers almost all of the available options and the paid options are probably not needed by the average user.

Downloaded, extracted, installed fine, rebooted and tried to run the application. Loaded about 68 to 70 percent and froze right there waited for 10 minutes for it to continue loading. Finally gave up on it. Had to shut it down the hardway. Tried several times to get it to load but Continuosly freezes. Took a screenshot of the problem. Sent to fotis it's strange the application won't load. Any one else have this problem?

I think Apple's iTunes is the best free alternative for this software. iTunes is easy to use and it's free.

Once again, I can only get the "502 Bad Gateway" screen when I try to download the program!! I wanted to see how/whether the program c/would deal with my half-vast shellac archive (about 57,000 old 78's!)...but apparently GOTD is no longer on "speaking terms" with me?!?! Can't you folks at GOTD FIX this recurrent problem?!

FEH!!!

I failed to read the comment about NOT installing it on a Vista computer... now all I'm getting are error messages that Kernelbase.dll is missing... so nothing will work on that computer. I may need to repair the program... I'm NOT happy at this point... have never had a problem with any downloads from this site before.

Did not have installation or registration problems.

But could not get files to mass load into database, only by by clicking on each one. CTRL-A and shift-click doesn't work to select, nor did select folder. With a couple of thousand tracks, no way going to add each individually.

For functionality, I give it zero out of five.

For user interface, less than zero for not using standard user interface conventions.

VERDICT: Not worth it, even at a $0.00 price. A complete waste of time, and a demerit for giveaway of the day.

SYSTEM: Win 7 ultimate, 64-bit, Gateway laptop AMD dual-core processor, 4 gigs memory.

Sounds like trouble but 2 thumb's up to GOTD for another in the organizational-type category. (Sure would love to see Leader Task again.)

I'll stick with TagScanner, the best tag manipulator I've ever found.

It would be nice just for once to install a program and have it work. This thing kept hanging when trying to load my database after it kept telling me I wasn't the admin. Why do I have to go in and click run as admin-no other programs make me do that. Software that is simple and intuitive is what I want, not an exercise in testing my tech skills. Thanks for wasting my time.

If you have problems with the Administrator rights here's how to fix it:
1. Right click the shortcut.
2. Click properties.
3. Click compatibility.
4. Tick "Run This Program As Administrator".
5. Click OK then run.

-CAUTION-
Completely trashed my system after reboot - it is asking for Kernelbase.dll which my XP sp 2 box doesn't have nor will have anytime soon, as I'm asking Google for a replacement and found none reliable so far.

Getting 502 Bad Gateway Error Message - so sorry for possible duplication of comments here.

Brief Review

Successful download, installation, activation, registration on Vista x32 OS. Nice, simple, easy-to-navigate GUI. Smooth program operation. Important Note - per developer's message, program must be run in ADMIN MODE - to do so, right-click on program icon, select "properties" option, choose "compatibility" tab, place checkmark in box that says "Run As Administrator." The program will now run smoothly.

CONS: Nothing significant to note at the moment.

Summary: Program does as it says, so two thumbs up for today's giveaway.

Freeware Option:

Media Monkey Standard - CNET User Rating 4/5.

Dull interface, like 1990s - user unfriendly.
NOT a unicode application. CANNOT support CJK languages properly.
NO wma, flac support.

Personally I really can't recommend this.
There are better free (or even open source) applications that do the same thing.

Win XP SP3
Installs fine over previous version (ver. 1.1).
Registration not required, must have taken previous registration details, as it DOES show it's a registered version.
Better looking version with "new" skins.
Would like to see it be able to export a database to Excel or similar.

This site showing bad gateway error 502 again.

Following Bob Levy (#21)'s serious warning about Vista, the same goes for Windows XP.

Last time I installed this program from GOTD, three months ago, it hosed my Windows XP installation. It crashed when I tried to install it on the drive I usually use (not C:). I installed it on C: whereupon it sprayed files all over system32 and demanded a reboot. Upon rebooting I got the blue screen of death with a fatal system error from the Windows Logon process. Fortunately, my Windows XP reinstallation disk managed to repair my Windows installation. In the end I only had to restore Windows from SP2/IE6 to SP3/IE8. It took hours to download and install dozens of Microsoft updates, but I was very, very, very lucky not to lose everything.

Summary: This program overwrites crucial system files. Avoid like the plague.

w7 - 64

Downloaded. That seemed to work after I tried 5 times.
Read the readme.txt. No surprises.
Clicked the setup.exe. It checked to see if giveaway period was still on. No surprise.
Got error "unable to open archive file". Tried more, downloaded again, tried more, downloaded again (after cleaning all temp-files to be sure no "old" files were still around), tried install, tried install, tried install. And suddenly, it worked.

Started program. All menu-text had disappeared, only icons left.
Clicked the setup-icon to fix this. Got a "run-time error '383': 'Text' property is read only" followed by a "Run-time error '0'"

I have 100.000 music files, I would not have them tampered with by a program that like this, where I have to guess what the different icons will do.

It is nice that "All my songs database" have fixed the minor bugs in this version, maybe next time they will fix the major ones as well.

Going back to my old solution:
- Winamp to play the files and to get tag-information from the net (only player I have found that can actually handle 100.000 files)
- Mp3tag to add cover (to the file not just in the folder), and to clean up any "file-naming mistakes" or "tag is not quite as I hoped it would be". This program works great for batch-jobs too.

Both winamp and mp3tag are free

drive "C" and obviously doesn't find required files for a successful run. Anybody any idea what to do?

DO NOT INSTALL ON VISTA ULTIMATE 32Bit!

Was forced to use Windows Repair from the Vista install disk and it took a number of iterations and 1 hour before system was back up.

On Windows 7 32-bit, all I was getting was the spinning cursor and could not create a new database. I then closed the program.

I manually registered cPopMenu6.ocx and vbalTreeView6.ocx and it worked, adding 8229 songs to the new database I created.

To manually register these files, assuming you choose the default install directory, go to Start > Run and type regsvr32.exe C:\AllMySongs Database cPopMenu6.ocx

Do the same with vbalTreeView6.ocx and SSubTmr6.dll

Hope this helps.

thankyou - very good app

+:
it read all the music iles - also flv files
it can play flv files with plus show a little screen
it shows all the TAGs from mp3 at least
-:
it does NOT read TAGs from wma - WHY ?
when you see all the TAGs want edit genre it seems to be impossible
you have to double click to see playtime for each file

BUT if you need to make a very good song database :

then hurry and get it !

It isn't Unicode database or program.
It is install some old file version over my XP SP3 system, so I will probably must reinstall SP3 (I didn't yet restart Windows, but I expect trouble)!
