Win7 64 bit
Every time I try to convert a VOB type movie to another format, my computer hangs. Could there be a codec problem? It happens with different converter programs. Haven't tried today's Giveaway yet.

Hi, Rich
Is it possible that your computer is low in memory?
If so, delete the files you don't need and try again.

I remember when this was a PC software site. It seems to be more and more an Apple "I" site. If that's the case just say so. If the site really wants to cover all the bases, start treating Linux equally. It's only fair!

Dual-boot here - Good Morning!
Well, I installed this program on both my physical partitions (Win8.1.2 & Win10 Build 10061TP) and the program did not quite finish in Win10, because iTunes doesn't finish completely in Win10 either - sat for hours - just said it was trying to finish, oh Well - next time maybe - iTunes installed no prob in Win8.1.2, so the program finished in Win8.1.2 as well. The program is NOT registering ANYTHING for MKV & those were the ones I wanted to translate - is this program based on iTunes or what? Oh well again - Thank you guys for the offering today & we'll see you tomorrow. HAGD

PS - Drag & Drop isn't working worth a pinch either - what is this program for again?

iMOVIE is an apple application so it's unusual that this is a pc program and not an apple application.

IMHO just a bit of marketing, trying to expand the number of potential buyers for Adoreshare software.

I don't have anything sold by Apple, so can't say 1st hand, but the only problems I've read about, that I've come across involved hassles with some formats getting video to/from OSX Windows video editors, but they were not final or distribution formats [e.g. .mp4, MKV etc.] either.

Though I already have quite a few video converters, so called just one-click program in my software arsenal, I still gave this program a shot on my new laptop (Windows 8.1). I'm a bit none tech-savvy, so an initiative user interface with A-B-C wizard will be much easier to get along with. The UI of the converter here is a five-star from me. I tested with *mkv file to *mov, one of the mainstream format supported by iMovie. The output quality is pretty good, with minimum quality loss due to the conversion of HD to SD. I'll keep this tool and thx to GAOTD & Adorshare!

Best alternative freeware video converter I like:
>> http://www.winxdvd.com/video-converter/ WinX Video Converter (high quality and fastest converting speed among all of my free video converters)

>> Handbrake (good stuff as all we known)
>> https://vidcoder.codeplex.com/ VidCoder (based on Handbrake, but has more options)

Ps: iMovie supported video formats are listed in this sheet:

Installation and registration couldn't have been simpler, opens up to a fashionably unreadable interface for old eyes.
My attempts to convert to M4V all failed so I had a go at DIVX which produced an AVI file.
Could not convert my MP4 at 240 FPS to a different frame rate, same as all the other modern converters I tried.
On opening a second time it had not remembered my input nor output directories, so easily rectified with a little INI file guys!
Another run-of-the-mill video converter that doesn't do anything special enough to make it standout, its inability to remember my last used directories make it really irritating to use.
Hopefully the developers will learn from the comments and make improvements to later versions.

Installed and regsitered without problems on a WIn 8.1.3 Pro 64 bit system. A clean install.

A (Chinese) company without name and address:
"Adoreshare is a professional and advanced software publisher of all kinds of video converters for both Windows and Mac."

After start a blueish resizable window opens. No options or settings. A sufficient help file. This is a version 1.0 from August 2014, at least this is is the "about" info.
The codecs are from mid 2014.

The name says it: of course it could convert all movie formats, the input is limited to .mp4, .mov and .dv file types.
The output (or conversion) is possible to nearly every format from IMovie, over AVI to DivX. This can be selected by video type or by dive (Samsung e.g.)

The video can be trimmed, cropped, watermarked or subtitled, with an SRT file for example.

In a short test, this worked without problems. A limited converter, nothing new, nothing special.
Does, what it claims. No problems with version 1.0. This is a feature reduced brother/sister from the former GOTD Adoreshare Video Converter Genius 1.0.

Uninstalled via reboot. I don't collect converters.

Somehow I doubt they are located in the Famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel. That's what their address is. The most expensive Hotel in New York? Cute but NOT confidence inspiring.

555 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY 10017, United States of America = The Waldorf Astoria Hotel NYC back entrance.

@ krypteller: First of all thank the developer and GAOTD for kindly giving this away to us free - we are NOT buying it. 2 seconds extra for a google search, if you REALLY need to know the address. We have time to come to this site, read through comments, etc., but not to do a search for the address (and we're all desperate to know the business address, aren't we? How many of us have experimented with shareware in the past? How many of us download extensions to Firefox/Chrome, apps for our Android devices, etc., without knowing the physical address of the developer/company?). BTW, in this case the link below shows the info. about this company.

I understand that 'iMovies' are video files produced by Apple's iMovie program, but what's so particular about them that requires conversion to more conventional file types?
Thx.

If you're using Windows to play back a video file, you can likely find plenty of players for whatever format you like or have. The frame size, bit rate [level of compression = how big/small the file is], & format might not be ideal for non-WIndows players however.

Yes.

Installed and working, but the only issue is, it doesn't seem to work with .m4a files. Otherwise it works fine with the 2 .mp4 videos I tested. I await Karl's comment. :)

Reply   |   Comment by Korgi  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-10)

per Wikipedia:
"Software capable of audio/video playback should recognize files with either .m4a or .mp4 filename extensions, as would be expected, since there are no file format differences between the two. "
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-4_Part_14

SO simply rename the .m4a files to .mp4?

Reply   |   Comment by mike  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

No, .m4a is a container for audio (usually aac).

Maybe we should change the comments section so it has only one comment - from Karl. Standard format: a) address supplied or not supplied b) window resizable or not c) kept by Karl or uninstalled via reboot d) photo of pizza. The rest of us just "like" the comment from Karl.

So let's just kill the forum and all other perspectives, or discussions on usefulness, comparisons to similar products, differentiators between this offering and similar software, pros and cons of using the current offering, etc.
