For what is does, it does, albeit slowly.
Buy when you compare it to Ant Download Manager, it is comparing night and day. Ant has so much greater versatility in all areas and is way faster.
Both are similarly priced too, so the choice is a no brainer when you compare features.

The reason I'm not downloading it is I have one from earlier which shows no version number, so I'm not sure this is any improvement over the one I have as none of them sport version numbers.

Nowhere apparently is there any admission on it as to which version it is. It says 6.2.8 on here but where does that show up on the program? It doesn't have a version number!

How does it compare to Allavsoft Video Downloader that we got from another day's goatd offer?

Nektar, Allavsoft is much easier to use. Copy the link, slide the pointer up to paste URL here box. No need to click on the box, because it grabs the link automatically. Then click download and your part is done. Now wait for it to finish downloading. It downloads semi fast, not the slowest or the fastest, but you won't grow old waiting. Allavsoft also creates 3 folders, Download, Convert and I forget the last ones name. Hope that helps!

Yes, tried both and both failed to download any video from any site I tried despite those sites being 'supported'! As for sites like YouTube, Dailymotion, there are plenty of free apps that can download from these. Not sure what's the point of having these 2 paid software.

FelixC, I wish I knew how. The 'instructions' have me going around in circles. I can't find how to register this version, how to get the code, anything. How did you do it? The readme files sent me to a webpage but I still can't figure it out.

Not that easy to use. You input a link, and pretty much every time, it tells you, it needs to detect the link with its build in browser. Click the detect button, once the browser opens to the page it starts downloading. Another pain is, like all Acethinker Software products you can't simple copy and paste the license key. You must put each number, letter and dashes in manually one by one. I do like everything Acethinker offers, but not this Video Keeper. Other video downloader's run circles around this one. IMO; they need start over and build something better than this one

Pfff, there is something like Frostwire and Ares. And, there are not enough 'seeders', then you can forget it, also what is being offered by GOTD. And, even forgot that Movies are offered, still, which are recorded from a screen, also in a cinema theater with an HD camera that is not enough efficient. Like now, "no time to die".

Martin, Pretty sure that it is a marketing device to indicate the robustness of the product. After all, they can't advertise that it records any faster than sites stream.

You start a series and find you like the first episode then finish up to 12 as you are watching
Works well if it is a 13 episode series.
Not all users have high speed internet(remember buffering it was a pain)
