#98 The resultant recording file may well be dependent upon the codec used but there wasn't any codec choice available at the time of capture. Nothing that I could see, nor was that suggested by Alex at 1AV in correspondence. Seriously flawed software in my mind.

an update to my comment #29
after un install, there are residual folders in the ALL USERS dir and the program files folder has a few exe files left.
Also my FLASH settings now have USCREENCAPTURE as my default camera.
this makes me a little nervous, why would my FLASH camera be capping my screen and as of now i can find no way to change this.

1AVCenter installed without difficulty on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and Vista Home Premium 64-bit. The registration process went smoothly, and without any complications. I have not tried any projects yet with the application, but I thought it couldn't hurt to have it on standby since you never know when you might want to perform one of the many tasks this app is supposed to be able to execute. Once again GOTD: thank you for the free software!

This is actually really funny; I opened ScreenCamera today (forgetting that it was a Giveaway of the Day), and it asked me to update for free (which I did.)

At this point, I couldn't use the program anymore cause it wanted me to re-enter my registration data.

What are the odds that they would give away the full package on the same day?

Thanks a bunch GAOTD. =]

Sweet! I already have and like AVCapture on another computer, and this will be a great addition. Already this software helped me solve a mysterious audio problem I was having on my new Windows 7 Pro x64 box by linking me directly to relevant online help files when the program detected the issue. That was "above and beyond" proactive and intelligent customer care and the documentation was clear and easy to follow! Good show, PCWinSoft Systems...way to raise the bar! Great offering, and thanks as always, GAoTD.

Very pleased to have this offered again. Was using the earlier version 1.1.11.11.11.11?, and was given the chance to upgrade ( offer for GOTD folks ). Instead I was told my version was trial and no longer working. So I downloaded this newer version and it works perfectly. What's up with the upgrade? Thank you GOTD folks again for fine software.

Thanks PCWinSoft & GOTD!! Versatile and useful piece of software. Installed with no probs on XPPro Sp3.
Some antivirus/antimalware will run an alert whenever a program attempts to install mouse/keyboard hooks, but it's tough to operate the program and hotkeys without 'em.

Remember if you're running Vista then run everything by "administrator priviliges". It's also a good idea to NOT open the program until you run (admin. too) activate, THEN open the program.

#68-- this program is DESIGNED to be able to watch and record your activity with your computer as one of its features. So ZoneAlarm is absolutely right. Is it doing it with malicious intent? Hopefully not, hopefully they just use that capability exactly as described in the product description.

Insalled fine on my Win7 Pro 64-bit. When I Activated I didn't have the program open.

2 major problems for me:
1. No way to record in MP3 (I'm using Realtek HD), although my other audio recorders on this pc don't have a problem.
2. No way to schedule recordings. Maybe they left this option off for us GAOTD users.

I ran a forced uninstall with Revo ununstaller (with the included uninstaller, not all files and registry values was removed).
Then i successfuly installed re-downloaded file again and this time all works fine.

About the slowing the computer - my solution was to set a limited region from desktop as default option at start, with a medium quality. Thus works much faster than with a full screen and maximum quality.
Maybe this, if is set by authors as default option, will be better. Later each user can switch to full screen and high quality, if is needed.

I did not made more changes and no have time to explore other options now, but seems this one will be a nice software to keep.
Thank you, GAOTD and authors.

The installation and activation went without any problems. However, I am just a bit hesitant to say all is well. I suppose one could call it “shell shock” but when I was looking over the users guide on the developers site I came across shall I say several “typos”. For example;

Step-by-step tutorials:

Lear how to record video directly from YouTube web site.

Lear how to record video directly from Windows Media Player.

It wasn’t me that left out the letter ‘n’ in what I assume was the word “Learn”. Stuff like that always scares me especially when the developer is asking for $100.00 for the program. A typo in a Users Guide is one thing, but a typo in the code, well let’s just say “do you feel lucky?” Or are you the type of user who will say something like “maybe the programmer just had a bad hair day and forgot to use the spell check before publishing?” Hmmm....

To #40 Giovanni who wrote, “That said I found very strange that there is any Ashraf’s review today!!”

I say “never look a gift horse in the mouth!” And just in case, you supposedly being from ”Italy” don’t understand the significance of that saying then Please Click Here For My Full Review Of The That Reviewer - http://www.tfd.com/nitpicker

On Win 7, 32 bit I ran the setup as admin and then before clicking to run 1AVCenter at the end of the install I first ran the activate.exe as an ordinary user and then after clicked to run 1AVCenter. No rebooting was necessary - everything worked fine.

After installing I got this warning message alert from Zone Alarm, my firewall program: "1AVCenter is attempting to monitor user activities on this computer. If allowed it may try to track or log keystrokes (user input), mouse movements/clicks, web sites visited, and other behaviours. Application: 1AVCENTER.EXE". I can understand the program connecting to the internet and accessing the trusted zone in Zone Alarm but not the warning about possibly logging keystroke activity. This definitely sets off alarm bells for me.

One Hundred (100) Gigabytes.
100 GB was the size of the file that resulted from a recording I did with 1AVCanter last time it was offered - and that was for a 15 minute slice of 'net video.
If anyone can explain that sort of efficiency I'd like to hear about it. 1AVCenter was removed.
What does it do? Take 25 still screen captures a second and knit them into an .avi file? Wha?
Your mileage may vary, of course, but..

1AVCenter looks to be a very interesting pack to check out, though like it's competition it'll take quite a while to get everything sorted out. In a nutshell, 1AVCenter & similar [there are quite a few, including even the popular player, VLAN] takes your media input & makes it available across a network. Generally you might share audio &/or video with PCs/laptops connected to your home network, or around the world via the web. Many of these apps include access from your cell for when you're away from your PC & bored. Some are tailored for sharing your media with a PS3 or Xbox. And some [like Orb] host the web page/service so you don't have to open up your PC/laptop to the web.

This is not simply sharing media files, but providing a stream basically the same way sites like Hulu do, which the receiving hardware plays. If you stream this content via the web, all the security concerns/measures a site like Hulu takes apply to you as well -- unless you use one of the services where you stream your content to their site over a secure connection, & then it's only accessed from their site [the downside being often limited upload bandwidth]. Now sites like Hulu have BIG pipes -- they have an awful lot of bandwidth at their disposal. You don't. In order to make streaming work for you [work with the bandwidth you have available] video needs to be compressed, as well as normally re-sized -- much of the time you'll be streaming 320 X 240, which is a very far cry from HD. Re-sizing &/or compressing [re-encoding or transcoding] takes horsepower -- often as much as your PC/laptop can give.

Packages like 1AVCenter include a video converter designed to work in real time so you can stream your video. 1AVCenter also has built-in capabilities to get content in the 1st place, like video capture/recording. Using just that end of things can be tempting [it's difficult if possible to record some streams from the web otherwise], but you should IMHO weigh the advantages/disadvantages of setting your system up to stream content via a network... it can take a bit of work, & may not be possible to plug all the holes, if you want your system to be as secure as it is now, before adding this sort of network broadcasting package.

Far as alternatives go, there really are so many, & so many kinds it's difficult to give any sort of real list. There are TV Center type packs, like Vista's & 7's Media Centers, designed to be access from your TV screen, & most I think also include options for sharing & streaming over a network. There are players like VLAN that include the options in a somewhat techie, less user friendly way. There are direct competitors to today's GOTD like TVersity. And then there are packages focusing more on on the streaming aspects, like maybe the Unreal Server. Windows Media Encoder 9 has for years included streaming, & Adobe has a free, flash based setup for streaming live feeds. [Hint: if you're thinking about using video from TV tuner or capture hardware/devices, start by checking compatibility with your hardware 1st -- than can reduce the number of choices you have tremendously].

Installed and activated fine on Windows 7 Home Premium with UAC turned off. In a brief try-out it did not produce any errors and behaved very well. Most uses for this app are for AV streaming it seems, so its use is so far a bit limited for me. However, the screen capture is nice and who knows if I might grow into the other features?

This is certainly worth keeping around. Especially so since the app takes so little disk space. Thanks GAOTD and to the developer.

Very Nice program, I use a similar program on one of my WEB servers but this is much nicer and has a lot more settings and possibilities I may buy a copy for my WEB server.
Very Easy to set up and register, I just followed the “README.TXT” and everything worked just as it should. If you’re having problems registering the program go back and read the text file and the first line says;
“Unzip the package you’ve downloaded and install the software by running Setup.exe,
Then run the activation program Activate.exe which is included in the package to register your copy”.
After the install, I just ran the “ACTIVATE.EXE” and in a few short seconds it was all done and registered, I did not even have to reboot. If all else fails; Read the instructions!
I ran it on my Windows XP Pro game PC and it work very well, the program is very nice and seems to work great! Thank you very much for the “Free Giveaway” It’s a very good way to try a program and spend time with it before you buy it and then when you have time to really work with it, You find it is Not what you needed and/or wanted. I have done that way too often and sometimes 30 days goes by so fast and you may not get to it in time to really evaluate the program. Well, It works for me and I’m very pleased with this Giveaway program and I’m looking forward to what will be available tomorrow.
Thank You, Rick. Phoenix, Arizona.
