Sorry, Swan, I have to stick up for GOTD. They make an effort to check the safety of the software before offering it. I use more thorough security software than the vast majority of users here, and I haven't seen any problems. Most posts claiming security problems are due to lame security software which generate false positives, or are actually reporting security conditions due to other software on the users' systems. If you have decent security software, it will block attempts to launch a browser. And products like Zoner Web Gallery are sending large amounts of data out of your computer. The browser launches that you typically see during installation are from GOTD's activation and/or setup software. I simply block most software that I don't want to access the Internet.

Hide Window Plus's hooks are minor, and Easy Macro Recorder uses Windows macro facilities. The only one with serious hooks in the last couple of months is xStarter. It's neat, but more of a geek toy, and doesn't have the right mix of features to be very useful to me. Smart Type Assistant uses some keyboard hooks, isn't smart at all, and uses the wrong Windows facilities for handling key presses (I uninstalled it right away).

The software that does the most damage to your system is actually the multimedia software, especially anything that handles video.

I am finding this pretty irritating y et funny too...
all of these complaints about the 'ADS' at the bottom of the created pages..yet if you stopped talking rubish and actually looked into the program settings, as someone says here, it is just the page footer part of the template and it is OPTIONAL and can be changed. So really they are just showing you that you can indeed place a link there if you want. Also, some people might actually think it is OK to give the software they used for their webpage a mention on the webpage!
You're saying it places ADS o the page...hardly a flashing banner is it...a web address in plain text?!
And yes, JAlbum does the same thing too. It is called helping to spread the word of software you like and find to be good. If you used it and it ends up on a site you made then it's a nice thing to let visitors know what you like to use and then, using the link on the bottom of the page, they might go and try the program too.
Quit moaning about stupid things and, if you are even considering this type of software, rate it on its merits and not some fake ads idea because you were too lazy to look in the options!

Just updated a previous GAOTD - GridinSoft Notepad (from the Help menu), and now it indicates it is the demo version. I understand why major versions would not be free, but this was a minor update. Be careful or you may loose you free software!

I think I'll pass on today's offer yet again. *sighs*

I've tried several album programs, including:

Picasa(from Google.)

Flip Album Pro>

I finally settled on two that really appealed to me and I'm having a hard time choosing between the two, as each of them has functions that the other doesn't. Both Picasa and Flip Album Pro have way more functionality that the Zoner product offered today.

Neither of these programs chew up your CPU and the picture quality is just beautiful. UI is much easier to figure out (than Zoner's,) as are the menus. I think I'll stick with what I've got today thank you.

Sorry Zoner, but with all the negative comments from users that downloaded your program today - I've decided not to even try your product.

It's gotten to the point that more and more of the GOTD software has become unappealing (to me,) since the majority of users don't have the expertise to run some of the system software that's been offered over the past week or so.

It's just very lucky that I happen to be married to a software engineer, who has warned me away from the last few offers.

Just as an FYI: David also warned that many downloaded software programs that immediately launch Internet Explorer after download, are a potential threat to the user. And let's face it - we've had a few of those lately also - so keep a watchful eye out for downloads that do that.

Guess I'll be back tomorrow in the hopes that I'll be able to take advantage of at least one piece of software per week. *sighs*

I have been using JAlbum too - which is freeware - however, JAblbum DOES place ads on the bottom of your pages. They are little tiny text links.

If simplicity and ease of use is what someone is looking for, try Web Album Generator (freeware) from http://www.ornj.net/webalbum/

It may not have different templates, but you can modify the arrangement and appearance of pages very easily.

I am suprised this is not freeware.

I use a paid for version which is web gallery wizard pro and works great, however this is the reason I paid for a decent version.

This software is very poor and the author should create a freeware with limited features and a pro version you pay for with well worked features, due to plenty of other items already mentioned here that are far superior and are free.

To #18, i think negative feedback is VERY important when rating a product. Yes, its wonderful that GOTD offers us free apps and games and i have advertised for them in my MySpace, but there are the apps that i would like to know whether they are good or bad. AND WHY they might not have worked for someone. If i see a 62 thumbs up and a 52 thumbs down (like the current rating) i am NOT going to download it. And to have comments (even negative ones) makes my decision even better.

FiD- Slideshow Maker from Microsoft?? I have never heard of this. Can you point me in the right direction. I found an Office plug-in called Slideshow Maker, but it is from XZAKT Media, not MS.

This is anoying... its a big program and I'm on dial up and its like 51 min to downlode... :( when will the world think that some people are less err... "Wealthy".

i can't get it to work.... it has a window to select wehat i want and it is blank...sounds like a good program... if i could get it to download.

This utility works as it says... and fairly quickly too. Just remember to click on the "page level" options to remove the link back to their web site (Unless they have an affiliate program,then just change it to your affiliate link and make a few bucks) and to not accidentally click cancel part way through as it doesn't prompt you with a "Are you sure?" before closing up shop.

One thing I would suggest to developers is to make an editable template so we could make our own and then submit to them for others to download. There is nothing like an active community (As a good example GAOTD) to keep people coming back for more.

I am sure an output .htm page could be saved and edited and then sent to them (Zoner) to be made into a ".ztm" file for the program, but why make it so hard to build a bigger gallery of templates? The existing templates are all the same - just different background colors - except the book template and the slide show template.

Plus, when you click the "get more" link in the program it takes you to a web page in the Zoner Photo Editor 9 program details that talks about using web photo album templates from that program, not to available additional templates.

I would bet a dollar that there are some very creative people who could come up with houses with "picture" windows, boats, clouds, beaches, space, etc., etc., templates. The more templates available and I would also wager the more popular the software would be and it wouldn't cost Zoner a penny more in cost. :)

I would give it a 6 out of 10 since it is easy to use... but they could have ported a few more of the features of the editing program over and still got people to upgrade to the full editor and the lack of templates makes it almost easier to just use the photo gallery feature in FrontPage. At least in FP you can make the pages look like the rest of your site. :)

Looks nice, I will try it. But have a problem to install on my WindowsXPpro machine. After clicking activate.exe -> Installer information - aaa ?! then a screen with: Fatal error.... and after OK: Succesfully activated.
But no program on my PC.

Regarding the link to Zoner website in the gallery footer - just look at the "Customize Template Parameters" page at the "Footer" section. You can use any text as your footer so you can replace the default link to anything you want.

It works well, but one massive problem is the ADS AT THE BOTTOM!!! >:-(
If I were to pay for this software, I would be spamming up Zoner's inbox with demands for a refund.I'm sorry, but a definite thumbs down from me.

WhOops...not AxySoft .. my apologies! I was curious as to why ZONER redirected their home page. It's past my bedtime....sigh...

It is an easy program to use , yes some things need work like all programs due . But for a free HTML uploader thats this easy it's great !

First of all, the program will be a definite asset. It presented thumbnails of My Pictures folder, which makes publishing choices a breeze. The interface is user-friendly, too. I had been using JAlbum, but I do believe this will its replacement.

One drawback I've noticed thus far is really more of a suggestion: because I restore old photos and make photos from old negatives in the course of my genealogy work, I have several hard drives with many thousands of images, categorized by family surname and subject. Being able to view more than one folder at a time ...perhaps in a split window? ..would definitely convince me to purchase the upgraded program.

Now .. for the major problem: my security software does not like the AxySoft website .. labeling it a 'hacking and proxy-avoidance' site. From my time as an AOL Host, I recall redirects as a major safety concern.

This is not a single occurrence ... identical results when previous giveaways from AxySoft were offered. I LIKE Zoner products; and my security software will handle any problem thrown its way. I am just curious as to why AxySoft redirects their home page.

It also does not respect the sequence of the chosen pictures, and there is no option to change it either. It makes a total mess of it.

Also, when making the Preview, the Cancel button says 'Storno'. Obviuosly a translation oversight.
After Finish, you're done, no way to edit anything, unless using another app to make the modifications.
All this from a product they are asking money for, shame on them!

this looks so interesting! Photoshop has something similar but as the description says...I'm one of those people that get confused with the FTP thingy.......Please leave ur comments regarding this software to see if it is worth to download
