#38, I'm running XP Home with IE v 7.0.5730.11. I have also tried to run repair without success. Then I tried to download the trial version and I had the same response, nothing. I still have the original GOTD copy on my machine, installed and activated, just cannot get it to respond.

#38, I'm using XP Home Edition with IE 7.0.5730.11- I still have the software installed and activated, it's just non-responsive. I've also tried repairing it and that also did not work. And like #65, I tried downloading and installing the trial version, which also had no response. Hmmm

Does what it says it will. The interface isn't as simple as it could be, and the less technically inclined could probably use a more detailed explanation of how some of the options work, but it does do a pretty good job. Produced gif files seem more bloated than those created with MS Gif animator for smaller filesizes and using default options, but it starts to match and then outperform the older MS software as the length/size of the animation increases and can also match the size with the correct optimizations selected.

There are plenty of mroe advanced graphics packages out there offering similar functionality, but if you don't already have one this package does a good job.

Downloaded and activated without problems.
I played with it for a bit and liked it bunches. Definitely a keeper!
Thanks so much, GAOTD and ZONER, Inc!!
I usually work with Paint Shop Pro and Animation Shop 3, and also have Ulead GIF Animator, among a dozen other graphic apps, and no, Michele #13, it doesn't do the same things this proggie does.
In the few minutes I played with it I managed to generate a blind-like texture, and animated it with some blur. Quite nice!
Then I made a M$ banner, but when I tried to change the text, it also changed the looks of the classic banner to the silver one (the one I'm using). Guess I have to fiddle around with my settings before trying that one.
Like BladedThoth, I wouldn't mind the texture feature as a standalone. That's another thing you don't have in Animation Shop or Paint Shop Pro, Michele, and Zoner GIF Animator is useful to produce new textures that we can use as patterns or textures in PSP.
Arian, you obviously don't work much with graphics. You also have to put some (some times a lot) effort of your own to achieve results. Resize and crop are features that come with most graphic apps - even ACDSee does that. Resize your larger graphics, or crop them and make them all same size. Only then use them in Zoner, and you should have a decent animation.
I'm keeping this app for sure, it will be very useful for my work.
Thanks again GAOTD, and keep up the good work!
I wouldn't mind seeing some PSP or PS plugins (hint! hint!) but please, not during next month, 'coz I go on vacation, LOL.

I had a problem installing it also. It is working now. This is what I did.

1) installed the giveawayoftheday version (this is how I found that the giveaway version didn't work)
2) UNinstalled the giveawayoftheday version

3) downloaded and installed the trial version from the zoner website www.zoner.com
4) ran that version, which starts with a notice that it's only good for 30 days
5) closed and UNinstalled that trial version
6) again installed the giveawayofhteday version

The program now is working for me, or at least it's in the Programs group and it starts up and runs, and the About screen says "License owner".

Zoner has been around for a long time, maybe 10 years. Their programs, full versions but usually one version behind, are sometimes featured on UK magazine CDs and DVDs. For what that's worth.

This giveawayoftheday is about the closest we get in the US.

Anyway, WHEN does the 90% discount change on their website? One week from today? Or one week from 6 days ago?

I kinda hate to say it, since my main browser is Firefox... but I never have problems (knock wood) with software downloads as long as I use IE. This activated first attempt, just like the others have.
There is SO much I don't know about software, but this works for me and I'm hoping that it works for the other people who've had a problem with the downloads.

At first I downloaded and installed it, but said the installation was corrupt, so I had to delete it and re-download using the mirror, then it worked.

The first and only thing I tried was to use an avi file to make a gif. I tried a this a few times. Twice it crashed (probably because one needed a codec and the other was 30 minutes long), one it told me it didn't have a decompresser of some sort (this is a file I got off my digital camera, although it wasn't a vid camera so it could only take short clips), and two of them worked (one that i got off the internet and one that I recorded off my desktop using ). The two that did work... well I couldn't figure out what to do. It says I can only use a max of 200 frames, so i did that, and I ended up with only about 5 frames in my animation. For the other one I checked the box to import all frames, and it was still only 4 or 5 frames long!

In an effort to get anything, I unchecked "merge identical frames" and set "import every _ frame" to 1 (by default it was 35) and tried twice more. With "merge Identical frames" unchecked, I get 200 frames in the animation, but with it checked, I get 99. To max out how much I can import, I must leave identical frames and skip no frames.. This limits how much you can import at a time. That said, you can import it into the same gif again, starting at the point it stopped, if you want to import more of the video.

Downloaded it, installed it and get 2 error messages everytime i start it. First:

"The exception unknown software exception (0x0eedfade) occurred in the application at location 0x7c812a5b"

When I click OK:

"Runtime error 217 at 010A3799"

followed buy the first error and again:

"Runtime error 217 at 00Bd4059"

What's up with that?

BTW I also have Sticky Password running ....

Despite it's "unique features" which are really standard with most self-respecting apps of a similar nature, I figured I'd give it a try.
It froze when I started the program.
Tried again, same result.
Re-downloaded it (this time to another machine), and after installation, got some pretty weird error messages about missing stuff, but it didn't say what files were missing.
So, I scraped this humbug off my two machines, and I'll be looking for some of it's freeware/open source counterparts, which won't list the same standard features as "unique features".

When I start GIF Animator 5, I get an exception and a runtime error, but then it starts. Clearly, there's a problem, so this may be affecting you, #36. #35, I have Sticky Password, and didn't get a conflict.

GIF Animator 5 does a small amount of Windows registry damage, but nothing like yesterday's offering. I won't be able to prepare a patch file for GIF Animator's damage, manual registry editing will be required. Something else I'll have to document on BladedThoth's forum over the weekend.

#15/#20, BrittnyDunn, GOTD has been bundling the activation and installation into a single executable, so yes, your copy is registered, and the software can only be installed today. If you check Help, About it will show "License owner" and list the name that you entered.

Texture generator filter does not work. All the presets are in the installed folder but all that shows when clicking "Texture Generator" is a black box. This was supposed to be the full program. I've written to Zoner Support.... we'll see what they say... if anything. Anyone else had any luck with it? thanks

Downloaded and installed without any problem, but on startup I get an unknown exception error (0x0eedfade) on location 0x7c812a5b and a runtime error 217 at 00DB4059. After I click that away the program starts up. Mousemovment (bluetooth) however is affected.

Thank you, great application!
| Can it convert avi, mov, and/or exe movies to animated gif?

Yes, the readme file says that even can convert .fli files!

I am used to my old Ulead GIF Animation but this one looks like a lot of improvement to the one I use. Besides having a lot of templates, allowing adding text, efects and being easily customizable the output seems highly optimized.

See the examples to learn all its features!

I like doing animated gifs as if it where mini-short-films :). For example, I take a big reproduction of a painting and start browsing through it and making copies of small size. Then I animate the sequence of little pieces and it looks as if I where browsing with a zoom over the picture. With this, I show a way of 'reading' a graphic composition. It works as an introduction to learning about how to watch paintings.

Animated gifs combined with midi music playing in the background could provide a very cheap and easy transferable multimedia show.

This is the 1st time that I've had problems getting one of the "giveaway of the day" programs to run. I've downloaded it, unzipped it, installed it and received the activated message, but I cannot get the program to run. It doesn't even start a new process. I've uninstalled it 3 times now and reinstalled it with no success. Anyone have any clue on how to fix this issue?

Question for anyone that has used this program:

Can it convert avi, mov, and/or exe movies to animated gif?

Bladedthoth makes reference to avi, but I was unclear if it was able to convert an entire short avi movie to animated gif.

And if you know of any software that can do that, please do recommend.

Thanks!
