I would really recommend it and it has a very nice interface and it's very useful. The only thing is it does what it says. What you see is what you get. It doesn't allow you to download from other sites than Youtube as opposed to other downloaders.

There is an online FLV converter for people who want to convert their youtube video to iPod, zune or PSP. It’s very convenient and free, you needn’t download any software. This guide will describe the basic steps; it should be easy to understand.
you can try this YouTube video download and conversion software to download and convert YouTube flv video to iPod, iPhone, Apple TV, Pocket PC, PSP, or Zune freely! http://www.youtubetoipod.org

Downloaded fine, installed fine, registered fine, works - not so fine. It actually seem like it works well but no file is being saved. I tried ten different videos and all the times it looks as if its saving the file but when it opens the destination folder after it completes the download - surprise - the file is not there...
I'm very disapointed.

Having trouble saving the files and seems like it hangs.
Opening screen just sits on a percentage of loading page.
I picked five videos. Got the second one the first day
Tried some more today, but they never start downloading. Is this a firewall issue, I turned it off and still did not download?

BTW, wanted to make a quick addition to my previous post at 84. Here are some trouble-shooting tips for those who have trouble

1. "You have to pay. Program only downloads half the file"--That's because you haven't put in the registration code. Open the readme file that Giveaway enclosed with the software (it should be in the program file folders). Open YTMD, select "register now" and type in the code. Then you should be able to download for free.

2. "I can't find the files I downloaded"--Did you specify a destination? When you prepare to download, select the "browse" option and then choose a destination. Prior to downloading, go to your settings and select "open file after downloading". Now you should be able to find the files. Since you probably didn't specify a destination in your previous downloads, the files probably weren't saved to your computer.

YTMD does what it claims--downloads/converts Youtube videos without taking up too much space on your hard drive. Since I'm not a techie, I was satisfied with the conversion options. Downloads are a little slow, but I was happy with the result. There are only a few small disadvantages with this software, which charcoal's comment nicely outlines. I do wish the program could download songs and videos from other sources. Nevertheless, I still enjoy the program. Thank you, Giveaway, for making this available! I've been waiting for it to appear on the site for months.

Crashes everytime I use it on my windows xp pc. It closes, and I re-open it, try to load a second video and crashes again. I am only able to download one video per crash. Very annoying.

To prove that it just isn't windows xp, I loaded to my Vista machine and experienced different types of crashes, but it crashed on that pc none the less.

Proggie is good for what it does, but I don't like the many, numerous, predictable crashes I continue to get.

The download and installation went smoothly. The extract of a youtube video was easy and quick. The video quality was not as good as the original.

I use KickYoutube.com, an free online download service and the quality is much better.

The only drawback in YouTube MD when compared to YouTubeGet I found is that YouTubeGet had a built in converter that you could use to convert files that were on you computer while YouTube MD does not have that ability.

That being said, for just the ability to get videos or music off YouTube, YouTube MD is the obvious choice because it supports more output formats.

The program works as claims, but there are some major kinks to be sorted out.
Major Issues:
1. No resizable window (1/2 of screen on 1024x768)
2. Can only download/convert one song at a time
3. Settings doesn't open while downloading

Everything else is awesome!
I'd rather get my music here than with limewire.

Since I've got YouTubeGet, I was wondering which one of these two similar products is better to keep and use as YOUTUBE videomusic converter: YouTubeGet or YouTube Music Downloader?

After reading Ashraf's review, it looks like today's GAOTD is a more complete and handy tool than the previous GAOTD, although YouTubeGet got a higher USER RATING than this...

Is it like that??

Whoops, that should be About -> Register not Help -> Register. I think I copy and pasted that register paragraph from YouTubeGet's review and must have forgot to change it.

The Register link is there - even after I register it is there. Look at this screenshot:
http://politicallymotivated.net/images/2009-02-28_122534.jpg

If you still can't register it properly, download Revo Uninstaller. Use it to uninstall YouTube Music Downloader. Delete all the register and left overfiles detected by Revo. Then reinstall YouTube Music Downloader.

Works fine.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. I cant fathom how there are so many negative evaluation reviews on here. It's an evaluation feedback forum, not a comparison website.

Low footprint when running,
Easy to use piece of software,
Havent had to refer to any help files to obtain easy downloads saved in various formats.

Thankyou GOATD and YTMD

Just get one of the video download add-ons for Firefox. ... Guess what! Those can download more than just YouTube videos (this program probably can too).

But the add-ons for Firefox are all free no matter what and the updates are free... There are also other video converters out there for free if you don't like th .flv format.

An update on what I said before. Looking around the dump sites, the 3 You Tube softwares are DEFINATELY from the same company. Di's company HiHiSoft. Why all the web subterfuge? This may be just naivete from the developer thinking that he/she must jump through these various marketing/repackaging hoops to try and get some sales. But still, the bottom line is: this developer offers YouTube Download, YouTubeGet and YouTube Music Downloader and at least 2 of these are cutdowns or older, less feature laden versions. Yet, they're all still offered at the same price. And the connection isn't clear from the websites.

Also, the developer has posted a "review" on the YouTube Music Downloader that is 100% positive yet contains no attribution. It certainly does NOT come from either of the software dump sites where this software has earned "awards". Why not post where the review comes from? You'd think a developer would want to trumpet the source. In this case, though, the source is likely the developer's own fertile mind.

Add all this to the fact that this developer's efforts seem to be mainly limited to You Tube, as opposed to focusing on software that works for any download site, and it reminds of a Chuck Berry song "Too Much Monkey Business".

It's great but I can't find the songs that it downloads. They're nowhere to be found anywhere on my computer. It works great and is easy to use but not being able to have/find the songs after makes it kind of pointless to me. I've gone through everything in the program, setting it to open the folder after, I've searched my whole computer, nothing :(

REMEMBER TO CHANCE THE INSTALL FOLDER, OTHERWISE IT WILL INSTALL ON LOCATION C:.
Nice interface with included browser so you can jump direct to Youtube from the program.
For enter the code so you get a full program!!!!! and not a trial, just press about and select register: it will go online and ask you if you want to by it, but in the same time a window comes up where you can enter the code from the `read me` file you got togetter with the program .
Thanks

Update to my comment #55... does a nice job of finding, downloading and converting flv files directly from YouTube, but unfortunately, I can't seem to find anywhere where it will convert files that have already been downloaded from YouTube and are already residing on my hard drive. With this program, to convert THOSE, I have to go back and find them on the YouTube site, redownload them, and then convert them to something else. Not too great. But for first time downloads, I love the way it automatically brings up the download feature with the URL already filled in when I hit control C to copy the URL from YouTube. THAT's a nice touch.

So yes, GREAT program for first time downloads, but doesn't seem to work for files already downloaded to the hard drive.

Unfortunately, I have to give the program a HUGE thumbs down without even testing it cos after downloading and installing, it takes me to unknown pages when i click registration, I had to use my initiative to guess the name of the required webpage, clicking on register took me to a payment page asking for my billing address. I do not intend to give out such personal info just for a youtube downloader with options at my google tips.

Sorry. THumbs down for registration, otherwise, I can always download the free version from the site. Poor GAOTD!

I'll give this one a go. I downloaded the other one a few days ago, but saw where the downloader registered but the converter did not, so never bothered to install it. Sounds like the converter actually works properly on this one, and that's really what I need. Some of my FLVs have some strange properties and won't convert with other software, so I'm always on the lookout for different converters that might work better with those particular flvs.

Somebody may have said this on an another day for one of the software's that I'm about to list, but I'm not about to go back and check all the giveaway's for the 4 pretty much similar software's that I suspect come from this company, just repackaged under slightly different names:
For me there are too many questions of whether this is a different software than YouTubeGet or YouTube Download. Others have even criticized this company for offering the same software under different names. Certainly they don't all have EXACTLY the same feature set, but they do appear to be all the same software with slightly different offerings. In fact, the MusicDownloader website contains links to both of those other programs and to Reezaa MP3 converter which I believe all come from this code. All the links are identified on all 4 websites as "partners". But, instead of having these all on the same company website, they're all on their own domains, 2 of which have no company name, and one of those have only email contact.
YouTube Download and YouTube Get are traceable. Reezaa and Music Downloader are not. My educated guess is they are all from the same company and are all based on the same code. I think YouTube Download or YouTubeGet is the base code, and the developer is someone named Di (one of the sites is registered to a Wu Di, another to a Di Di, both with the same street address in Xi'an city) who created all these domains, perhaps with the intention of escaping prejudice against a Chinese company.
Unfortunately, they're all offered at the same price - $29.95 - even though they all seem to be the same root software in different versions.
Some like this software, and today's is probably the one to get, as it's probably the "full version" with all the features. You can probably replace the other 2 "You Tube's" with this one.
Still, if I'm right about this developer playing a web shell game to try and squeeze the maximum price out of people, by essentially offering limited versions at the same price as the "full" version, BIG THUMBS DOWN. Sorry, GOTD.
If someone figured this out on a previous day, again, I'm sorry. On the other hand, if someone can prove I'm wrong, GREAT. I automatically retract with apologies. But, until then....

Given the overwhelming similarity between Youtube Get and Youtube Music Downloader, I am concluding that they are from the same programmer, made with moderately different skins and a few minor option changes. I would guess that the two offers this week are a marketing test.

In both cases the UI is unsatisfying for me. The inability to resize the browser window is frustrating and the inability to back browse is another weakness. I also think that it would be a nice feature if I could add my own favorite search categories.

Between the two different programs, I prefer Youtube Music Downloader over Youtube Get because of the tabbed window. I do guestion whether the use of the Windows logo on this program is legal (I don't know).

All things said, I wouldn't pay for this program; it just doesn't give me thirty dollars of functionality. Since it is free today, I am happy to have played with it and it can now collect byte dust in my seldom used programs cache.

Hi, sorry to be a pest but I don't seem to be able to register Youtube Music Downloader. Ashraf suggests: "You can find the registration box under Help -> Register." but I find only two links there, both are taking me to the "Buy" site without the registration option (unless I buy). If I use the Downloader, it stops downloading half way through and advises that it will only download up to 50% of the video without the registration. And if I try to register there and then I am taken to the page that requires my details and payment. How do I register, please?

#6, I plugged VideoGet on here a couple of days ago. I wish they would offer it on a day that I'm at my mom's where I actually get high speed internet. In the meantime, it's great for those of us with slow speed. I can download a video and then watch it.

As for this program, I have no use. The quality of the music isn't always the best. And as someone mentioned, most people are using the music illegally. YouTube is cracking down on that. I know of a couple of videos that are gone because of the music that they used.

Not really worth it, if you want to download youtube videos you might as well use the Orbit Downloader (google it), which can download any embedded flash, streaming videos, streaming music and anything else you'd ever really want from webpages, it also includes a really useful download toolbar. This of course only downloads them rather than converting them from FLV. But all you need is Format Factory which can basically convert anything to anything else u'd ever want or need. You might say why use 2 programs when you could just use this one, but both of these have a huge number of extra features and are worth having installed anyway. So a no from me on this one... oh and if you want to get songs off of youtube you might as well just use a free audio recorder such as Audacity.

These so called reviews by Ashraf posted only minutes after a program has been nominated does a disservice to the developers who work many hours to create a program. As #22 stated there is a huge difference between YouTubeGet and today’s GAOTD. I would add to that by saying there is equally a huge difference between "Reviewing" a product and "Nitpicking" as a means to impress. This is a good program for what it does and worth trying out for a few HOURS BEFORE making an appraisal!
