Done some further tests on this offering. If I turn back the system date/time to a value within the 24 hour giveaway window this shows as registered perfectly fine, but if I advance the date to the next day it reverts to a 15 day trial and prompts for registration information.
Wondershare have completely dropped the ball on this offering and should not be paid by GAOTD because they only gave a 24hour full license which then expired imediatly afterwards. This could also be why some people who installed this on the day claimed it did not activate properly because they may have been in a timezone that caused the broken date check to think the 24hour period was over so killed the full license. Or their system date/time was wrong. Will there be a re-run?

After I downloaded the Wondershare program I activated it--& used it to convert a wedding video I had stored---the program worked fine--until I went to use it a second time---then---guess what---told me I had an unregistered version--wanted $49.95--& splashed an ugly watermark all over any future projects--I'm not sure what you would call it--but I call it deception.

I am running win 7 64 bit in a admin account and have a reoccurring problem now. Every time I try to install the software it doesn't register. I know that on softwate in the quick launch you can click run as admin, but that is not offered when I try to run setup and activate. Someone who is getting it to work please give suggestions.

wondershare video to flash installed and activated fine on win xp sp3. The program works well at converting files but it eats up way too much of my 2.8ghz intel processor it maxs it out to anywhere from 95% to 100% usage. Itried setting the priority for it to low but it did not make any difference at all it still continues to use up processor the same. The player it makes does not have an option to show a preloading screen so if you use a large video flv it takes awhile for it to load and all anyone sees is a black empty box waiting for video to load. All in all a good converter but kind of cpu agressive so you can't really do anything on the computer while its working on converting video.

I also have Vista and followed the ReadMe instructions, but once installed and activated, the program said it WAS NOT REGISTERED and that i had 30 days left to register! We cannot register the official way because that requires an e-mail address you gave to Wondershare upon BUYING the program, plus a CODE that they sent you, by e-mail. Obviously, we don't fit within that criteria!!!
Being UNREGISTERED MEANS that a Wondershare WATERMARK will appear on all that you do (according to the Help Files ---which i could only access using the F1 key!!!). Obviously (again) this Watermark thingy renders the program unusable, for all intents and purposes!
FORTUNATELY, #27's 'accident' holds the key!!! I follwed his/her accident path: I Unistalled the Program while UNCLICKING the "Launch...", re-booted (this sets it in the registry), processed the Activation FIRST, then instaleed the program, rebooted agian, and opened the program, and voilà, no more red message concerning the need to register!! Thanks #27 !! Hope this helps!

Same problem as number 25 above.
Tried the Activate with the program running and not running, but the program want to put a watermark in the middle of the video file.

I am logged in as the only user that my system has (also the admin)
Obviously unacceptable with the water mark.

ideas?

All of these programs to help us use our computers more effectively & securely are great, but I want to know what has happened to the games
giveaway area? There have been no games at all in the longest time.
Is there a reason? Have you meant to get it in there, but not had the time? When will we see more game give aways? I'm disabled & don't get out much, so your website is one of the few options I, & I'm sure many others, have for getting new games that WE get to choose. Please bring them back! Thank you.

Well, I have Vista x64 XP2. I was having trouble getting it to activate. The script said it was activated, but the software told me I had 17 days left to use it. I set the activation script to run in XP Service Pack 2 compatibiltiy mode and to always run as administrator, and it seems to have activated the program.

@ timpeva... I had the same problem because I accidentally ran the Activate program before installing the software. I re-downloaded and re-installed the software (re-installed over it - I didn't uninstall first), and ran the Activate program (with the software closed). After it told me that it was activated, I ran the program and it was registered. Hope this helps!

Using Vista 64 XP2 as an admin.
Will not register. I run the activate program, it says connecting to GAOTHD website, checking key availability, then says activation successful, but software still says unregistered. I have tried with the program open and closed. No change. I know I am an admin user on the system. Any suggestions?

@ Asharf
You always providing decent reviews. Users here should be grateful.
As for the remark about EXE containers … probably that is a very good thing that you “have found no way» to create one :-) That should rather go into “the Good” part
I would suggest to anybody here – never even bother to execute any container with SWF that is the sure and known way to spread infection
If you have SWF container – use the Software like ARFlashplayer from
http://www.vector-ski.ru/vecs/arflashplayer.htm
Get just arflashplayer.zip (1st download link) You don't need the one with “_full” in its name

Just drop EXE container into it – it will extract and play media file only but nothing will be executed

@ Oliver … “Virus in FormatFactory"?!!! What a laughter!
You gotta be kidding and please learn about False Positives detections by your (or any) security.. otherwise you will end up without your OS being inoperable if you are blindly believing in anything that was flagged

Finally, this Software really not needed with so many free alternatives as FormatFactory, Super Player/converter and so on...

I've d/l ed FormatFactory many times, installed on many computers, including updating from previous versions. I've never encountered a single problem with it, and can only recommend it.
Getting a virus is unfortunate, but I doubt that it was due to FF. From where did you D/L it? perhaps you got it from a hacker site instead of the official website and the file servers it uses.

Same as the last GAOTD - it cannot handle .m2ts files. While objects that remain still in the frame are fine, anything moving is decoded as 3 overlapping shadows, and the audio is jumpy.

Thanks, GAOTD for the offer. Downloads and activates fine.

Stop wasting my time, Wondershare. Actually test your product before claiming it can do things.

This is much improved over the June 6, 2008 giveaway. Clean install, uses its own codecs in its own folders. Vista users need to right-click Activate and Run as Administrator. Lots of features and options. The addition of the F4V format is especially welcomed. It actually converted faster to F4V than to FLV on my machine, as F4V used all four of my CPU's cores. Gives accurate estimate of output file size. Player appears to keep the original aspect ratio when the optional controls auto-hide, but it doesn't keep the aspect ratio when run full-screen. You can open any webpage for uploading. Colors used on the file list are low-contrast, making it difficult to read at the high resolution I use on my CRT. It's even hard to read on my high-resolution LCD (and people ask why screen magnifiers are handy).

Vista Users Beware: Setup and Activate Process Must Both Be Run in ADMIN MODE for registration to take effect properly.

PROS:

* Smooth download, installation, activation, registration, on Vista x64 SP2 OS, for the most part (see CONS comment below).
* Registered status shows up in Register Section of program.
* Nice, simple, pleasant, easy-to-navigate Graphical User Interface (GUI).
* Local Help Guidance located within program.
* Features numerous audio/video editing and setup utilities.
* Allows user to determine location of output folder for converted videos.
* Allows user to upload converted videos to numerous social network sites after conversions.
* Preview pane feature allows user to view videos during conversion process.
* Smooth, easy, intuitive program operation.
* Allows for batch-conversion of video files.
* Quick conversion of videos - 5 (13-MB) WMV files were simultaneously converted to SWF files in 30 seconds.
* Quality of converted files was equal to quality of source video files.
* Converted file sizes were equal to (or less than) original source-file sizes.

CONS:

* Registration was difficult - ADMIN MODE (for setup and activation) required in order to solve problem. Developer does not mention this.
* Developer contact information not located within program.
* GUI is dull and drab - could use a bit more sprucing up (IMHO).

SUMMARY: - Program quickly and smoothly converts videos to flash format. Two thumbs up for today's GiveAway. Thanks GOTD and Wondershare.

I didn't expect much from this program and I guess it is some better than I thought it might be. Not any better than some of the others but then it does have some nice features and is very self explaining. It is free today and if you do a lot of flash work then why not give this one a spin arund the block as they say.

The good:
* It can can most video to web video, like flv, swf.
* It can also help publishing the resulting web video to website with the offered player skin.
* It can do most it claims.

The bad:
* The resulting video formats are limited to flv and swf, which is not enough. For some people also want to publish mov, mp4, 3gp, 3g2..video to website.
* 12 offered player skins are not enough. They should offer more:)
* It is better to offer the code for the video embedding to website.

The alternative is free Moyea Video4Web Converter together with Moyea Web Player. They are both professional tools. You can use Moyea Video4Web Converter to convert all video to Flash video and use Moyea Web Player to make custom web Flash video player with playlist. Here is the tutorial: http://www.playerdiy.com/support/tutorial/customize-flash-video-player.html
We know that 1+1>2. So these two software can offer more functions than Wondershare video to flash encoder.

The Good
* Straightforward and fairly easy to use.
* Supports many input video formats.
* Can output as FLV, embedded SWF, or standalone SWF.
* Nice customization options for SWFs (change of player, loader, add effects).
* You can merge videos together.
* You can create a "slide show" of your videos.
* Supports drag + drop for input files.
* You can "overwrite" audio in videos to insert your own.
* You can do basic edits to your video before converting.
* Fast conversions.

The Bad
* Features list on developer's website claims to be able to output into .F4V and .EXE containers but I have found no way to do this.
* Output files need to be organized better.
* Output file size can be (varying on your output settings) huge.
* When "merging" videos or creating a "slide show" there is no way to change the order.
* The ability to automatically rename output file if output folder has same name file would have been nice.
