Nice software, Supports a lot of import options, a lot of "output" options

Yes it's Very "commercial" but it's got a nice look in Vista (Vistacopylook) and it has a video cropping option too.

It's not the best with the FLV files I tested it with (loses snych) but seemed to work ok with the other formats thrown at it and does support many. best of all, it's free!

Welcome! and thank you, Wondershare team.

I downloaded and installed your program today and found it to be sleek, efficient and definitely worth saving. I do have a suggestion: despite searching your website, I was unable to locate technical specs for this program. It might be helpful to post this information as a way of showcasing your product against others, and allow potential buyers to make informed decisions.

Many of the folks here are familiar with the concept of video transfer, but mostly from a point-and-click perspective. Others (like me) thrive on the details. You have made it look so easy, that apparently many of those voting here fail to realize what is behind the gorgeous user interface.

For example, converting video formats is a complex procedure, particularly when it involves scaling engines. You have made it easy to compensate for the differences between NTSC (720 x 480, analog, interlaced, higher temporal resolution; used mostly in the Americas) and PAL (720 x 576, progressive; higher spatial resolution; used throughout the rest of the world).

And most of the users are familiar with the term 'bit rate,' but your software makes it easy compensate for the differences between the bit rate of, say, MP3 and the higher-quality-but-identical-bit-rate of Vorbis, AAC and WMA...handy when splicing audio!

I could go on, but I'm on the verge of completing the last level of Brickshooter Egypt, which was a game giveaway some time ago. It's driven me crazy for a couple weeks and I can't stop now! (I'm sure you understand!)

C'mon ...post the specs .. do a little bragging ... you've earned it!

Thanks again, Giveaway team. Another winner!

*sigh* Why use a half-baked one format program when you can use something that will convert anything to anything for free? And you support the opensource movement, which if anything, forces commercial software developers to release high quality software that is worth paying for.

Sorry, a mistake I did on post 65

#61, On Vista?

Copy the setup and activate program to a local directory (dont run it from the zip folder).

Right click SETUP, run as admin. After installing, quit the application (Wondershare Iphone converter), if it launches.

Now, right click ACTIVATE, select run as admin. After the ACTIVATION SUCCESSFUL message,

open the Iphone software. (Right click the Program icon, and select RUN AS ADMIN. You only have to do this for this time only) The boot screen should show Version 3.11.

After you close the program, you can open it normally, just double click. You dont need to run as admin again.

:D

I tried the program... and it does what its supposed to do.
I like the interface and i like that it converts most of the common formats people use...

But their are many other (slightly better) free programs out their you can use such as:
http://www.erightsoft.com/Superdc.html

This program converts literally ANYTHING.. and its free.

Its kinda hard to use, but thats only because it has alot of options and formats you can use to convert with.

LOL! If you don't have a PC, is anything here any use to you?

Thanks SO MUCH for this program, I have been waiting for this for ages! Now i can watch my divx movies on an ipod :) Plus I am considering buying the iphone too.

Those who are converting divx files, they dont show up whilst searching for 'all supported files', but they are supported. Change the view option to 'all files' and select it and it works fine

Not an Apple fan myself, but I have a friend who is and he swears by this very proggy. Can't seem to praise it enough. $30 seems a bit steep for this sort of thing, though, IMHO.

RE: #26/28

If you burn those type of files to a DVD, can you watch them on a regular DVD player?

I thought that the files had to be a different format for a DVD player to read them.

Sorry, I don't own any Mac products. So not much to contribute towards this particular software.

I find this an easy to use program, I have a Zune and an 80G iPod, no plans for the phone as of yet. Zune can take MP4 and the Zune software converts it for you(takes quite alot of time) so, yes, this is useful to those who do not have an iPhone (who does yet?) because if you have an MP3 player it can take the soundtrack and you can listen to your favorite movies. I have a lot of conversion software and this one does what is says it will do and it does it quickly! The quality was the same as my Nero7 that I paid way too much for! Thanks for this cool piece of software that even a monkey could figure out!

For the so many people who are looking for a converter that is free and converts everything to everything else with presets, there is SUPER converter. It's a very backwards site with lots of links for you to follow to finally download the thing, and it has one of the ugliest GUIs I've ever seen, but it works and it's free, so there's not much else you could ask for.

This is a great program! Downloaded and installed beautifully, like the re-run of the Aimersoft DVD it has a button saying "register" but that does NOT mean you are not registered - clicking the button states that you already are.

Incredibly easy to use, like the Aimersoft DVD program it has a Web 2.0ish stylish interface in a "Vista-like" colour scheme and is totally user friendly - it is a kind of WYSIWYG for creating iPod videos, you open the file and crop and adjust by moving the sides of the video in etc as appropriate so only the part you want shows, press Start and the program does everything else for you - no technical knowledge needed.

Notably this is NOT just for people with iPods or iPhones!!!! You can actually create any soundtrack off a video file and turn it into an mp3 file. This means that you can even record yourself singing onto a video file and convert it to mp3, save it to your computer and burn it to CD (or have it on your iPod if you do have one, regardless of whether it is a video iPod or not). Or you could have your favourite scenes of films played as mp3 on audio - there are so many possibilities and it is not therefore restricted to iPod owners.

I have just done this with a scene from Only You and now have it as a music track - it took 2 minutes 12 seconds to create a 3 minute 20 second scene. This is great as anyone can have scenes from films transferred into mp3 files to play on computer, CD or mp3 player.

Therefore - DON'T WRITE THIS OFF IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AN iPOD!!!!! Download it as it is something everyone can potentially use whether they have an iPod or not!!!!!!!!

I'm really suprised about the many bad commands to this prog.
Downloaded it this morning and it really helps me - got a lot of videos I was trying like forever to get only the sound from (e.g. every single one of me playing on the piano ^^ )
Thanks to this little prog I will finaly be able to listen to the stuff on my mp3-player.. what more can you want?

This prog converts just to the file-typs I was looking for :-) So thank you very much GOTD :-)

Oh, my previous comment might be a bit misleading:
Media Player Classic supports a lot of codecs, so make sure you grab a copy if you haven't already. It's meant more to play than to convert, but you can (at least in some cases) will do conversion.

A bit of a limited program.
Media Player Classic can decode the audio on FLVs, not sure about video; Using that you can extract and re-encode, so it may be of interest to some.
I also second the usage of VirtualDub for AVIs.

Also, for those of you with Nokia devices, keep in mind that Nokia has software for converting files that Nokia devices can support. Check their website (I can't give any direct links as the software changes per device group.).

These programs do not "all do the same thing".
For some reason I have not been able to find one good, reasonably priced, "all format" video converter with presets for various devices. For most people video conversion is complicated and confusing. If you own a PSP you have to buy a version for PSP, if you own a Zune, you have to buy a version for Zune. So if you have more than one device, like every gadget lovin' geek I know, you could end up spending a fortune on video conversion software. And so far every free video conversion program I have used as been painfully slow compared to the pay-for versions. Aimersoft DVD Ripper was very much appreciated even with all the confusion. I'm sure this one would be too, if I were an Apple guy.

5 minute review:

1. After several attempts with a "successful" activation, I still got the nag screen that says 30 day trial. Having bad memories of Aimersoft already, I finally remembered the mantra --- "run as administrator" --- for Vista users.

2. User interface is friendly and attractive, following the same faceplate as the DVD ripper. I like the consistent styling; it makes me feel like I am putting together a suite of software.

3. There are a few nice bonus features. The one I find especially useful is extracting audio to MP3. Have a favorite movie theme you want to listen too?

4. This does not rip from DVD (they have a different program that does that). If you have the Aimersoft from last week then you have a match, otherwise you will need to fund a ripper program. I am sure many of our helpful readers can make recommendations.

5. This is a nice program. It is easy to use and the quality is reasonable. Not a Cadillac but not a Cooper Mini either.

Is there a good freeware that converts rm / rmvb to avi or mpg? I find only shareware or crippled freeware.
