I really like this software. I got it when it was on the site and have used it frequently since then. It does not, as some have infered, need internet access to operate. Works fine with the modem off and cable disconnected. It does what it says it does and thats great with me.

I have a question for this site. Just recently I find I'm not able to see comment feedback for software until the 24-hour download time has passed. What's the good in that? Have they changed the format or is there something new I need to do so that I can see the feedback when I need to - i.e. when the giveaway is actually in effect?

Thanks in advance.

I suppose all those "I'm not d/l .NET Framework" don't play CDs or DVDs because they need to have a Media Player installed & isn't a shame you need a Browser to connect to the Internet. Oh, dear you need a reader for PDfs, and those plug-ins to view Web pages fully !

I'm not going to use my PC for that !!

I'd rather not risk my computer to something that seems dodgy like that. It's easy enough to paste a semi-transparent logo onto any photo you've got, by using the most simple of editing software.

Just a helpful tip for anyone here who needs watermarking. Depending on what photo editing software you use, its quite simple to add a new layer - paste your watermark image to the layer, blend the transparency - and then drop the layer on the image and save it in your desired format. This creates a nice clean watermark in your image - and allows for actual refinement editing of your watermark should you need to do so. Don't waste your money on watermarking software, when you can simply do it for free - yes even with batch settings if your photo editing software does batch work. Corel Paint Shop Pro will batch edit via scripting controls.

Just posted a website last week with a lot of photo's for a mate who's starting up a biz of his own. So this offering comes really handy.
This prog does everything I want it to do, really nicely.
Install went smoothly, I didn't notice it wanting to connect with the internet (and my firewall is really fussy about that).

Imports and exports BMP, JPG, GIF, PNG and TIFF, so most used formats on the internet are covered. Interface is straight forward, easy to understand and you can see everything you do in the preview. Handles test and logo's as different entities so you can play around with them separately.
Nice option is that you can an "add watermark" option on you rightclick menu in explorer.

Only drawbacks are no "drag and drop" support and no possibility to open several files in one go.

Thanks Uconomix and GAOTD.

PS Swan, it would be handy if you put the link to you reviews also in (or in the website box, just above the comment box) your post, saves having to scroll up the page. Good luck with the reviews.

Previous post 24.
I further experimented with this program it will not run unless it has full internet access.
It just comes up with an error message as detailed else where in these post's

For those who says it does run with firewalls blocking it or internet turned off you must have a leaky system.

And as for internet off you must either by mistaken or liers who are in hand with the makers so mislead everyone!

I have a high security setup nothing happens without me knowing about it so that is why it will not run as I will not allow it to send who knows what info, who knows where?

I have uninstalled this spyware program and I urge all others DO NOT DOWNLOAD if you have GET RID AS QUICK AS YOU CAN THEN RUN EVERY ANTI-VIRUS/SPYWARE SCAN YOU CAN.

#50, I don't think you understand what an invisible watermark is. It's invisible so that the image isn't ruined by watermarks, but it still serves it's purpose in watermarking your image. If you highlight the image you can see any invisible watermarks, which could be completely plastering the image, thus making it difficult for any thieves to claim your pictures as your own.

I just want to thank GAOTD thank you for all of the software. I can't use all of it but what I can use I sure appreciate it. My only complaint is that if I have to format my hard drive or something I lose all the great stuff. I guess that is why I keep a list of the stuff that I really like so if I lose it I can get it if it appears again and if I really like it a lot, I can buy it. Thank you again GAOTD for all you do!

This is my first time replying to a software offer from GAOTD. I don't know why all those nay-sayers complain about but I enjoy testing and using "free" software that is listed here daily, with that said...

Installed this program as instructed, registration went fine, runs well on my machine with XP Pro, added several watermarks to my digital photos and it worked like a charm.....no problems and I didn't need internet access to use the program.

Reading the comments here is cheap comedy relief....but I say "THANKS GAOTD" for a job well done....I'll be back tomorrow to see what's new.

I just want to say that although I don't need todays software, I do want to thank GOTD for doing his AND for all, well almost all, the comments. Most of the people that comment here give very useful information, not only about the daily software, but how to use it, pros and cons of it, plus offering alternatives that we might be interested in. I find it very useful to come here every day and just see what the mega-program users think of different software. So not only thank you to GOTD, but thank you to all you helpful people out there.

Microsoft's .NET framework may not be the best thing since sliced bread, but if you were a programmer you'd have to acknowledge it's advantages in programming.
Anyway, it's a ONE time download (except maybe for updates) and it isn't that taxing on your system resources (it's nothing pretty, but it's nothing major either). There are plenty of .NET programs out there, so it's not like it's only this program you'd be downloading it for!
By the way, .NET makes these programs easier to run on Linux via Mono ;>

This give away is a waste of time for me. I hope there are others that will find it usefull. I have not downloaded much lately as much of the offerings do not interest me. I just wonder how much longer we will have to wait until the game giveaways returns? The games side has been gone for a long time. I hope it returns soon but I know I'm not the only one.

This is a great program for anyone who wants to protect their photos. I've had personal experience with someone "stealing" a few photos I took of wildlife and claiming them as their own. From now on I will be adding a watermark to every photo I upload online.

I would also like to thank you for the great programs! You guys are awesome & everyone should be grateful they have the opportunity to download a program every day. Even if it's not something they will use, they don't have the right to complain because its FREE. Besides if you don't like it, DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT! Very simpl

To Cindy [#42]. Even though I have Photoshop, I downloaded and installed this out of curiosity after reading some of the comments. I could see the watermark in the Preview Pane which was necessary since I moved it from the top left corner to the bottom right corner using the Custom Position and had to see what I was doing in order to place it where I wanted it. I do not know why you couldn't see yours ~ maybe it was too small? I did increase the size of the font.

Also, it did not need Internet Access to work. It never requested Internet Access or received it. [My firewall is McAfee Security Center]

Not only does it ruin the graphics stolen from you by defacing them with a watermark - it makes your photos look like crap.

Now, if you made the watermark invisible on your photos - why it will make the watermark invisible on stolen pictures as well.

Something seems to be missing here. Quite a large "something".

#40 aretwodeetoo,

The expiration date you see is only for downloading and installing the software. You have 24 hours every day to download the software GAOTD offers. You also need to install it during those 24 hours, too. But the software isn't limited, it's full, functioning software (unless a company messes up or cheats) that you can have as long as your computer runs, for the most part. It is free. It's not a rip off.

And for this software, it was very easy to figure it out. I added a quick watermark to a photo and it worked well. The only thing I didn't see that I would have liked to have seen was a preview of my photo with the watermark. If it was there and I missed it, I'm sorry. It runs fine with Vista as long as you do the whole Run as Administrator thing. It's not a pretty program and it's not very complicated, but it fast and it does what it says it will do.

Cindy

PROTECT YOUR IMAGES!

Or at least force anyone who steals your images to crop the heck out of them if they want to use them for themselves without asking or even sending a nice word of appreciation.

Nice little program for anyone who likes to post images on the internet.

I am new to "Giveaway of the Day". At first I thought it was a great idea but was shocked to see an expiry date on the Download page.

Free, limited trials are available all over the place. "Giveaway" implies free registration.

This sounded like a good piece of software but I downloaded the "lite" version from the publishers website instead. It's "Free". Based on other comments I also downloaded "picture-shark". Both look like they'll do the job well.

Very disappointing that it's not really a "giveaway".

Quickly reading the comments here, I notice the comment about the application not running without an internet connection. I did some testing on this topic. Here's what I found:

- Disconnected cable: Launched and ran fine
- Disabled network interface: Launched and ran fine
- Uninstalled network interface: Launched and ran fine
- Safe Mode: Did not run; Crashed on launch
- BufferZone: Launched and ran fine
- BufferZone with BufferZone's Firewall on: Launched and ran fine

Don't have another firewall installed on that system currently to test with other brands, but seems to work fine, so I'm not sure what issue was had from those others; You could post information on what firewall software you are using so we can see if there is an issue somewhere with a malformed packet or similar. If you have problems, don't just post 'Doesn't work - Firewall broke it', post some information so the community and the developer has something to work off of.

An OK visible watermark program. I did not notice any phone home activity. I intentionally disabled my internet connection and the program ran fine.

UMark Professional is a rather large program for its limited capabilities. It's interface has an aged look and feel to it, and the main screen does into fit within the window provided - buttons are half obscured.

I can see how some people might want this program, so it you do not have something like way-too-expensive Photoshop or the $69 program Corel Paintshop Pro, this is worth getting while free. $20 it TOO MUCH for such limited funtionality; it seems like it should be on a CD with a slew of other programs - all for around $20.

For the professional, this program offers no way to REGISTER one's watermark (as Paintshop pro does), and offers no watermarking steganos (sometimes, I don't want my watermark visible at all).

If you have image editing software, it would probably pay to see if your program already does this before you sintall this bloatware.

For those that think that .NET means that in the long run it means that less space gets used because the programs can be smaller...perhaps they can explain to me why irfanview is a 1.10 download compared to this 1.12 although it doesn't need .NET to run?

To those that think that because these days most people do have at least a 3000GB harddisk and an INTEL 4 at 4Ghz...a word in your ear...not everyone does and even if they would, there's still something to be said to program in such a way that it doesn't get bloated. If you can't see that programming in such a style that a program is bigger then it has to be is bad then I sure hope you don't have anything to do with programming. Programming so that it uses resources that aren't essential, is bad practice.

Get a life people! Just because YOU are not going to buy a software does not mean nobody in the world is going to need it and pay for it! You are probably not going to pay for ANY software! Visible watermarks aren't of much use to me. Either you add them in such a way that they are easily cloned out, or they are plastered across the main subject marring it. THe first doesn't stop the half determined thief. The second simply ruins the work such that IMO it isn't worth uploading to the intertubes.

What would be useful is a program that applied an invisible watermark using steganography. Won't stop the theft, but when discovered and a dispute arises you can at least show that the image originated from yourself.
