Excellent application, yes there are free ones out there but this one is very tight (well coded and well presented)

Now if only we have a Giveaway of FLASH DECOMPILER! now that would just be a dream, Flash decompiler is a superb application.

Re: Registration

I also received the expired giveaway notice when I used the registration information given in the readme.txt file.

The registration *did work* when I used the information given in the pop-up.

As an aside, many posts have mentioned VLC. This is not an "install and use immediately" type of program. I used it to setup someone's computer to play a "Harry Potter" movie. This was not easy. Besides having do download various codec packages to find one that worked, I had to use trial and error to get the program working because I did not understand the cryptic options. On the plus side, after learning to use the controls, the final picture was very good.

#60 I had the exact same problem. (FIX INCLUDED, READ ON) There is some confusion in these posts, from the manufacturer and GAOTD. It says "Enter Registration information" not "change registration information" for us affected by whatever GAOTD registration bug. IF you enter the id/key provided after successful registration in the little popup as part of the registration exe it will not work and say it was valid till 9/26 which is stupid because that hasn't happen and the version is still freeware no matter how many time you input it.

FIX: So I tried the same exact id/code from the readme.txt as #22 mentioned and it worked beautifully. There always seems to be a problem with the code they give you, it could be because of the line break in the little window it gives causes a problem when you copy and paste but there is defiantly an issue there. This is not the first time I have seen this. I did a file compare using TextPad and the two name/keys and they are identical it must copy a space or something weird from the pop up.

#20, No body actually reads the readme.txt since it is always the same and not useful unless they include a code that actually works in this case.

This author is actually trying to charge money for a flash player? Are you kidding me? The author should be ashamed at a blatant attempt to rape money from unsuspecting, inexperienced Internet users. This is ridiculous and should be removed.

After installing and using, I received the following message from my Firewall Application: "C:\Program Files\Eltima Software\SWF & FLV Player\swf_player.exe has modified the User inerface of the Parent explorer.exe by sending special window messages. Any program trying to modify another program using this method may be a sign of trojan actvitity."
Eltima, can you elaborate on this activity?

Seems like a nice player, but way over-hyped. The long list of features include simple things that are included in most players such as volume control, full-screen playback, resizing, playlist, etc.. It does have some unusual features such as capturing screenshots in a series. However, I find its online features especially over-hyped. They don't seem to work very well, if at all. And I haven't been able to find any of the "advanced security options", not even any help on them in the help file.

Despite these shortcomings, it is worth keeping as it seems to play well and does have a nice look (albeit a little too flashy for me). It still has too many rough edges to be worth $20 bucks in my opinion, but could be worth that with some touching up.

Thanks Eltima & GAOTD for sharing it with us.

Great little program
Installed and works with no problems
I like the swf frame-by-frame feature

#60 you have to enter the “user’s name” as giveawayoftheday as per the readme file info and the key from there also you have to be online. That's what I did and then I had to close the program and then open it again.

A little heavy on resources, but it plays okay. Then again, almost any media player can handle Flash files if FFDSHOW is installed and configured properly. Download -may- work some places, but not on DailyMotion or YouTube -- both give a "forbidden" message. Thanks, but I'll stick with Media Player Classic and the DownloadHelper Firefox plugin.

Nice player, but i am missing a mute-button for audio.
For a future release, i wish an option to not only export picture-series. Converting to AVI (like DivX) should round up this great player.

@#18: The file is still at Wikifortio because it's been uploaded there, and that is the nature of Wikifortio. However, the Activate part of the installer will not work—it'll give you an error message.

@20: Brush up on your grammar. You're using the wrong form of "your/you're".

#56. Do you even bother to read before commenting? Today's review, I quote; "As for paying $19.95 for the Pro version, I would suggest holding off until the downloader matures a bit, unless you really need fullscreeen support or screenshot(s) support". How much more clear needs one be for you to understand?

Very nice program. I have looked at the "free" version before. It too is a nice program - but it is very similar in function to other free programs that do the same thing. Usually if two programs are almost identical in the functions that they provide, I look at price and speed. Those being equal, I keep the original program. No additional un installation and installation problems. If I have already learned the command structure,I find its use to be less trouble overall.

This download being a full featured "professional" program bumps my old program off of the hard drive. I like being able to save the fruits of my labor to the hard drive. Re-thinking it all the SWF-FLV Player Pro is going to be good for only a very short time. In that light, how much trouble should I put up with when it comes down to selecting a SWF-FLV player that I will only use occasionally?

Between this day in time through the "time of 'occasionally expect that I will lose or cripple a program or two as a mater of course. The dilemma?,I really like this program.

Downloaded and installed but will not properly activate.

Go to "Help", "Enter registration info" - enter key provided, get pop-up that key 'was' only valid until 9/26.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling - tried download from mirror site and primary sites - I've even tried entering the key in the "user's name" and the "key" fields at the same time, still get only freeware version.

Also tried entering the key into only the "user's name" field with nothing in the "key" field and got same pop-up.

Yes, I've tried start/stop program, reenter key; reboot, reinstall, enter key - NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK

WinXP Pro - version 5.1, build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254:Sevice Pack 2

BTW - don't like the new pop-up from GAOTD which auto enters favorite into browser - don't mind the idea of doing it, just leave it unchecked

I've spent the last week loking for a good player that would play everything instead of one for Quicktime clips, one for Real, one for flv etc etc and have found the brilliant open source KM Player which has played everything I've thrown at it (including swf and flv).
Link: http://www.kmplayer.com/forums/index.php

(Apologies for no comment on this software but I know some people appreciate alternative freeware suggestions)

An interesting offer today; the program has some nice and convenient features that many freeware counterparts lack.
Good to know that the devs are eager to collect feedback and are quick to respond to users comments!
BUT..
It has glitches, though.
It wouldn't play my files downloaded from youtube (no, the files are not corrupt - VLC and GOM player play them right away). All I got was a blank screen instead of picture and no sound.
I also got "List of of bounds. -1" error several times.
Well, I'm feeling a beta tester today. Not that I mind that for just once ;)

SWF/FLV Player downloaded, installed and registered (following the instructions in the read me file) without a hitch. Played flash and swf movies I had on my hard drive ok - though video quality wasn't great at some points. However the major disappointment for me was the fact that the capacity to download and view flash or swf from the web didn't work at all. I had the same problems that others here have mentioned with You Tube. I tried a few other online flash movies I have bookmarked, and though SWF/FLV Player would read, download and open the initial swf file, in each case it was the intro screen only - a still photo. No other elements of the movie would download or play. Given the number of other free swf or flash downloaders, players or browser plugins out there, I really can't see the $20 value in today's offering - certainly not until the download function (currently beta) is working properly. Though as a free download it could be worth keeping for those (as BladedThoth pointed out) for whom the playlist options are useful.

Cheers
Sue

Media Player Classic, an open-source media player, does better, even better than VLC. It plays everything with the right codecs (like Real and QT codecs) as well as those flash files for free.

Other than not being able to ZOOM in on FLV formats this is a marvelous and functional tool. The ability to go full screen on FLV beats out many of the other versions of software that allow viewing of these files. It has already been stated that this is not possible to ZOOM in on the FLV format, so no big deal really. The full size viewing doesn't appear to lose any discernible quality when the video is expanded. Worth the look and works as described.

Thumbs UP

When I try to add a file to the play list, I get a protection error. It says, "Debugger detected - please close it down and restart!" Then it says, "Windows NT users: Please note that having the WinIce/SoftIceservice installed means that you are running a debugger!" Neither of those services are running or are even listed in services. Using WinXP Pro SP2. I'm not sure what's going on with it, but when software gives me problems when I first try to use it end up in the recycle bin.

Tried it, doesn't quite work. As with VLC, navigating with the cursor is next to impossible, it stopped after a few minutes for no reason and in full screen mode it leaves two white bands on the laterals of the monitor. Had some expectations because no player on the market today satisfies me, thought that this one "Pro version" would do the job, but no :{. Oh, just tried downloading a video from youtube and it returns a 403 forbidden error message. I use Vista Home Premium. Conclusion: totally useless, save your time and hdd.

Even if someone paid me the $19.95 I wouldn’t try this or any other product from that company. How good can their code be when they don’t even bother to proofread their ads? Makes me wonder whether there are any “typos” in their code as well. They write, “You can customize the playlists as well! Reoder, repeat shuffle items in the playlist, save and load them, open the last item played everything is delivered for your comfort.” Reoder??? Gee, you mean that I can change some smell while I’m checking out my Flash movies? Doesn’t exactly convey that sense of a quality product.

This should in no way reflect poorly on GAOTD, there’s nothing wrong with their product. They’re not in the business of copyediting other company’s documentation. They’ve done their job and I’ll continue to endorse them. In my opinion for what they do, they’re the best on the net.
