What would be more popular is a DVD movie to file converter that includes the original chapter marks and the 5.1 surround sound sound track on the video file.
Just like converting music CD's to mp3 and playing them back from a portable player or a hard drive plugged into a stereo system then people so the same with movies.

Sothink is painfully slow and arduous to configure, Leawo v5 is neater, cleaner, at least 5 times faster, and there's a free edition that copies to MP4s quite nicely.

Will not install on Windows XP. I have encountered this problem with Windows XP PRO w/SP3 many times over the last 3 weeks. This program downloaded, but refused to install on a Windows XP Professional system, although the system meets all stated requirements. The program extracts and checks availability with GAOTD then nothing further happens. No matter how long I wait, the installation does not proceed. I have to delete the setup file in the Windows Task Manager "Processes" in order to delete the extracted files.

Thank you, Susan.
I hope GAOTD will fix this serious problem, there are still many of us that use XP, and are now unfairly deprived.

Installed on Win10 Home desktop
Test copied a commercial DVD - copied very fast, only problem was audio track was missing
Uninstalled
I use a GOTD from the past few months 'Tipard DVD to Mp4 Converter' as a DVD 'ripper', with good success.

Downloaded Blu-ray Copy to my laptop which has a Blu-ray drive and DVD Copy 1.0 to my PC which doesn't. Both installed without a problem, but activation has me stumped. Used the User (e-mail addresses) and passwords provided but I'm not sure that either actually activated. Both when opened still show "Buy" and "Activate" buttons. How do I tell if it's actually activated?

Reply   |   Comment by Carl Fetterman  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+4)

I received a very helpful e-mail from sharewareonsale explaining activation and how to verify activated. Both the Blu-ray on the laptop and DVD Copy on the desktop show activated. Thanks GOTD and sharewareonsale.

Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 or above requirement is stated. If your PC has integrated graphics in the CPU but has not separate graphics card, then this software will not run.

As a long time user of giveaway of the day I am wondering if this is a safe site
Please advise. Using Windows 10 and 360 Total Security.

It does raise some flags. Zonealarm keeps throwing alerts when it tries to call the mothership, every time the program is ran, the system asks if it's ok to "make changes" to your hard drive, etc... a few edits to the host file stops the zone alarm alerts but the changes to the hard drive each time it's ran does raise a flag as far as I'm concerned. Many pro's on my system, this is the first one that does this EVERY time I run it. Got the program off sharewareonsale.com but looks like the download comes from the same location. You can get the blueray version over there too.

Is this legal in the USA? I was under the impression that distributing a software that cracks DVD decryption is illegal?

Reply   |   Comment by Ethan  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-23)

These programs do not crack DRM. They only work on non DRM discs such as home movies.

I already had blue-ray version activated, but now when I tried activating DVD copy function, my blue-ray feature has been deactivated. This is not a good activating procedure.

Reply   |   Comment by Sapphire  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+18)

Save your BluRay registration email and password and DVD copy email & password .
So when you need Just DVD copy just activate it with the DVD copy email password.
It stays until you need BluRay copy. Just use that email and password to activate the bluRay.
No big Deal.

Downloaded the program. Had gotten their Blu-Ray copy program yesterday so I simply tried to activate the DVD portion within the already installed media program. It activated the DVD Copy but deactivated the Blu-Ray Copy portion. Not a very good giveaway if you can't activate individual portions of the media package without losing what you already have.

This registration procedure is the most complicated I've encountered on Giveawayoftheday. I've written to the Company to delete my details. This degree of complication isn't necessary.

This registration was nothing compared to one two or three weeks ago (HDR Projects 2) that took six steps of e-mails and confirmations. It was amazingly complex.

Six month license, one year license, lifetime license, no updates to software?
Looks to be DVDFab redone, possibly because of a judge in New York State who doesn't believe in fair use. New company none the less, not much info on the website although I assume they are based in Hong Kong. BluRay copy would be nice, even with cinavia left intact. We would probably start buying BluRay exclusively except for the difficulty in making a workable backup without having to find hardware that doesn't preclude using the audio portion of the copy ( Our older BluRay player doesn't have the cinivia chip). Thanks for the offer, I rarely use software from this site, but am considering this.

Reply   |   Comment by Joseph Green  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-16)

Not all Blu-Ray discs have Cinavia. That said, you can use something like MakeMKV [you can find & download at videohelp.com] to put the title video, audio, & subs into an MKV file container, & then use one of the many media player devices. You will have to research whether it has Cinavia support or not [you'd want Not], and whether it will support Blu-Ray video bandwidth as-is, or if it will have to be re-encoded, which also makes for a smaller file. You'd also have to decide if you want to access the video over your home network or play it from local storage, like a USB drive -- note that you *might* have to beef up or add to your home network setup if you want to play full bandwidth Blu-Ray video from a networked drive.

This developer does offer a Blu-Ray disc copier, albeit at an even more eye-watering -- and uncompetitive -- price than the $57 it seeks for this product.

Aside from the difference between the two DVD types, the developer also publishes a caveat on its website that 3rd party decryption software will be needed to make its Blu-Ray product perform as promised. Though no such caveat appears in regard to this non-Blu Ray product, it's impossible to believe that Sothink is able to provide decryption for one type but unable to do so for the other.

Absent built-in decryption, it's therefore impossible to see why it thinks it can get away with charging $57 for an outright purchase of DVD Copy 1.0 or the downright bizarre $37 recurring annual license fee. In any event, what it is charging for was accomplished as long ago as 2005 by DVD Shrink, as free today as it was then, available from here and *only here*:

http://www.dvdshrink.org/

Though development ceased 10 years ago, DVD Shrink is still in use by thousands of folks worldwide (including myself) and is actually so good that criminal scam sites proliferate on the Internet, all of them purporting to offer DVD Shrink (at a price), several of them even incorporating the word "official" into their urls so as to make you think you're dealing with the real thing when, of course, you're not.

I've encountered Sothink's copier before and couldn't for the life of me understand what the company thought it was doing, pushing out something at so high a retail price in a market where competition from many a different freeware offering left it for dead. I can't fathom why it should think anyone would want to download and familiarise themselves with today's giveaway when the price of re-install is so astronomically over-the-top. This developer really could do with a wake-up call if it wants to succeed in this overcrowded softeware sector.
