I downloaded this the other day, and it has proven to be spot on in what is does! It has recorded everything I have wanted to record, which other programs I have used, failed in one way or another! I give this a 9 out of 10 for reliability, and usefulness.

Quick info: Apowersoft seems to have ripped a .NET runtime from a China Telecom program. It's weird.

It trashed my Vista Pro sound system. Even with system restore, I can not get the sound to work again. I uninstalled the program but still no sound.

My sound card shows the driver working fine, but not sound. My sound properties shows I have no sound card available.

After making a recording using Windows7, I also had no sound, but I got that working.

Very disappointed.

I've only been able to give it a quick try but so far its one of the best I've used, so far the voice and video are together and no lagging while recording a streaming video, Thank You!

Installed the software on a windows 7 64 bit machine but could get no sound from the mic in any of the recordings I tried to make. Going to un-install ASAP and do a system restore. Don't understand why so many favorable comments for a product that has sound problems. Other people had the same kind of problems.

I tried recording a youtube clipping. Video recorded but without sound. I did not allow the program to adjust video/audio settings. Freecorder, a freeware from Applian Technologies does a better job in Mozilla Firefox.

I must try this one. I used the earlier version of Screen Recording Suite given here some time before and it was a nice tool I cannot do without. It is better than all the similar tools I have used before. Thank you so much give away team. I will not miss this opportunity.

Got it the last time it was up on GOTD. So impressed that I purchased the paid version when it was upgraded. This program does exactly what it says and does it simply and very well, much better than the one I had previously which shall remain nameless. I, for one highly recommend this program. Paid version is nstalled in a 64 bit windows 7 machine. GOTD version in a 32 bit windows 7 machine.

I'm having issues with my recordings showing up blank. For some reason my first attempt work, but everything after just shows a black screen. Operating sounds and microphone works perfectly, however it just doesn't seem to be capturing video.

Any ideas?

Several comments relate to loss of sound. This will be simply because it installs a virtual audio driver to allow recording of more than one input. Ordinary sound output is redirected to be recorded. Before playback of your recorded video you may need to redirect output back to your real soundcard.

JUST GO TO CONTROL PANEL, SOUND AND AUDIO DEVICES AND RESELECT YOUR SOUND CARD FOR OUTPUT RATHER THAN THE VIRTUAL ONE.

A previous give away Streaming Audio Recorder had as part of its main program display a link to the control panel audio settings. That's my suggestion for this even if its on the settings dialogue.

Other than that this seems to have a reasonable selection of options.

Just before the very end of the installation, I got a warning that BytescoutScreenCapturing.dll could not be replaced because it was being used by another process.

Using the most excellent LockHunter -- FREE from Crystal Rich at http://lockhunter.com/ -- I discovered that it was Skype locking that DLL file. Without LockHunter I would never have worked this out by myself! So I simply exited from Skype and the installation proceeded to completion.

Works, but it seems to have broken some of my sounds. It's got a couple programs under it's own audio instead of normal, so those programs have no sound. (Thinking about uninstalling to fix, but I've no idea what actually caused them to start using "the wrong output", so I'm not sure how to fix it...)

Also, can't record D3, not sure what you need to do to fix that, but even if I never use it, the ability to would be nice. Just records everything behind it. (Actually, I don't think anything I've tried can. Past that, I think this is the best I've used...aside from partially breaking my sound.)

@13: You need Microsoft to sign your drivers, not VeriSign. Microsoft tests your driver to make sure they work properly, and then signs it so Windows won't throw a warning. Windows won't accept a VeriSign certificate for that purpose.

#15 Norman,
Your suggestion is very good, we have know the problem when recording game, our next version will improved the features of recording game video with FPS counter just like GG Fraps. For output format, you can use built-in video converter to convert video you record into any format as you want, of course we will consider adding other format, but currently WMV is the best output format currently.
-----------
#25 Peter,
Yes, you are right, we have missed to optimized screen capture function in the program, we will improve it in the next version; make it work more easily and usefully.
-----------
#45 Karen Stavert,
Thanks for using our software for such a long time, you suggestion is very good too, we will check if we can add this function in future version, (add a “drag to size” during recording feature… and, the ability to move the recording area.) currently, my solution is choose full screen or a larger recording area before you start, after recording finished, this program has built-in video converter which can crop and trim videos, you can crop the video area you want(where webinar start) and convert to any format you want.
-----------
# Dennis
Useful advices, I have tested and make sure this is a bug for “microphone test”, we will fix it in the next version.
Also, we will offer a PDF help documents and re-designed some icons on the program.

I have read carefully about all of your questions and suggestions,
Thanks for all of you advices, I guess there are much work to do now J we will try our best to improve the program!

Regards
Sincerely,

I have two PC's I installed this on. One new machine with an i7 processor and a 500 series graphics card from nVidia. On that PC, it ran smooth.

But I also have a "sub-notebook" PC from HP that I use when out and about and sometimes, I have to make a "how-to" for my small forum. So I thought I'd try to install it on my sub-notebook which has the following:

Windows 7 32bit, 2GB ram, 60GB harddrive and an Intel Core Duo 1.20ghz ULV processor. Needless to say, my sub-notebook isn't a powerhouse. Far from it.

But surprisingly, the screen recorder worked great. I didn't experience any slowdowns and the recording started and stopped without any hangs.

So in my opinion, this software is a keeper. And it's a great choice for people with lower spec'ed computers.

#65 Mark, thanks for the endorsement. I'm a High School Teacher. So Far, so good, but I'll need to play around with it when I have more time. I got a Stack Error message at the end of 3 video's I made on the fly, but I was able to edit them out using Win Moviemaker. I'll need more time to play around with it, but I am cautiously optomistic that it will be a big help, especially with ELL students.

Installed under Win 7 Home Ultimate on Dell Inspiron N5110 Laptop - install was smooth (I accepted the unsigned driver). FYI - Norton indicates the website is fine.

I ran a quick test grab of screen operations which recorded and played back smoothly.

Looking forward to easy screen-grab demos in the future!

Thumbs up for me.

The program is lovely and user friendly. But I'm having troubles with video editing, system simply freezes. Nothing can do, just pushing reset button. System is Windows 7 x64. If you know how to fix this problem without program code changing, please write it.

Ah, and one other thing, this program has schedule task feature, and it works! :)

I stopped installation at driver protection warning screen
and rightly so

Why the hardware driver?
Why a driver anyway?

Look at Camtasia.... no need for a driver...

looks fishy to me
I prefer my system not to be compromized by a software company that hasn't got proper contact info

sorry...

SCHOOL TEACHERS: This program is great! It ran without any problems on my Vista system, it is simple and easy to use and produces excellent output. I'm a computer tech teacher at a private school, and I've tried several various programs to make things for the kids that were easy to understand. Although there are some free programs out there, this one seriously deserves your attention. Give it a try, you can always delete it if it's not perfect for you.

I installed it on a Vista Home Premium system with dual-core 2Ghz processors and only 2 GB of RAM, and even at that the system loading with the program running was negligible.

Installed on two XP computers. Neither one recorded the sound on the video. Obviously has something to do with their sound driver? " Because the Screen Recording Suite needs to install a Sound Driver on your computer to record all system sound" But where is the help when you can't get sound? The website help files don't mention sound at all that I can see.

Very happy with this software. I am using Windows 7 Ult 64 bit. I went ahead and ran the setup and activation as an "amdministrator" just so I wouldnt have any issues. It installed quickly and with out trouble. I did get the drive notification that windows would warn about it due to not knowing the publisher. Thats more of an eye roll not the first nor last time I will see that pop up. For people who are having issues with the trial please make sure you go the extra step and run the activation that was with it. Also read the READ ME file it notes that Vista users will need too "run as administrator". Im not going to compare this to free edidtion crap or the 300 dollar software that has popped up in peoples comments. If they want to bring their products to GOFTD then ill go through them and review them. Id like to say thankyou to the Apowersoft team for bringing this product to us and allowing us to have a free lincence of it. You guys have also been great through out the forum answering comments.

The product did a good job, I cant say it bogged down my system but I have an amazing powerful computer. The quality of the video it recorded was pretttttty good imo. As well as the sound.

My only gripe would be in reference to using it to record games. IE sims, WOW, starcraft. It didnt record what I had up on my screen I launched my game while recording it takes up my whole screen moved around did stuff stopped recording. went to review what I had and it was just my desktop the entire time. I was a bit disappointed about that. I also noticed my FPS drop but it wasnt enough to hinder my expirence.

All in all an enjoyable product. ITS FREE TODAY so grab it! No point in listing off other softwares that are free and that you use them. GRAB THIS ITS FREE TODAY TOO! And give it a shot.

Quite frankly I am ULTRA RELUCTANT to install ANY SW that installs its own SOUND DRIVER. I had a very disagreeable experience with NCH Debut that installed well at first, worked ok and then they UPDATED their DRIVER and it has caused be BSOD since then. After months of CARDIOLGICAL WORK on my System I finally am working through the issue. Just beware of any UNSIGNED Driver stuff. And even so, what tells me that any future UG will be compliant with my system or MS OS? None. Freeware like CAMSTUDIO and others at least do not cause these issues as they don’t install their OWN PROPIETARY DRIVERS.

Downloaded and installed fine on XP SP3 dual boot on an imac. Banidcam used to work fine on this machine until I stupidly downloaded an update, which took the free registration with it.

Testing video records OK - movie trailer and moving mouse.

Sound issue like #35 above is when you enable mic or system sound and mic, you get FEEDBACK. Plus, when you choose TEST in options, the test does not stop when you press STOP!

This should not happen if you use headsets but the mic gain under the supplied driver can not be lowered. You can lower the mic in the system settings and the system output volume but it is less than obvious and it really does not work that well.

Can't use the sound function on Windows 7 x64 due to unsigned drivers.
Get rid of that sound card proxy driver.

There are many apps capable of recording system sound without installing additional drivers.
Also, add more output formats instead of just WMV.

Thumbs down.

Suggested improvements:
1. All of the function icons (buttons) are black. Make the record icon red to distinguish it from the other function icons.

2. Under "Options" and then under "Video File" the microphone test function causes a feedback loop when testing a built-in microphone, such as on a laptop. I could not get it to stop even when I clicked the "stop" button. I had to mute my laptop speakers to interrupt the feedback loop. This test function really serves no purpose, unless it is used with headphones. Listening to yourself with headphones is not a good way to evaluate sound quality/level. Suggestion: Replace test function with a sound level meter, and do NOT have the sound play through system.

3. Offer a downloadable (PDF) user guide on the website.

Works for video recording and screen shots, but the sound is not in sync with the video's.

Hi, This Software has potentials of becoming my frequently used Tool, possibly companion..
Like Others - I too like the Instructions. They have to mastered in order to get the most out of this Tool, and I guess there might be few post-Offer Comments.

I myself am still at learning stage after making few attempts/mistakes.., but even so - on totally undesired window:) - when played back - quality of video was rather decent!

I would like for the icon of this SRS 2.4 to "sit" in my Taskbar (always ready..), but perhaps not accepting Quick Launch when installing did this? Or, if that's not possible - right click on mouse when on web page? Either way, not a big prob, might simply be a case of correct settings to sort this out..

If this Screen Recording Suite does the same for "moving things" (to simplify description), as DuckLink Screen Capture (there - I've mentioned it again, lol) does for me for "stills" (including whole web pages) - It too might become my daily companion!

Thanks GAOTD and Apowersoft.com for this rather sweet and interesting Offer!:)

Anuja, currently @36

Install the program using the setup.exe. I usually uncheck the option to open program at the end of the install. Now go to the extracted "Activate" file, double-click it, and you are done. To check if your program is registered, open it, click "Help" then "About", and it should say: "Registered to Giveawayoftheday".

I've used a number of video screen capture apps, including Camtasia. Screen recording suite was the best so far. Other apps seem to either produce giant video files sizewise, and/or poor quality video. In my test, the video quality was very crisp, yet the file size was pleasantly small. Thanks GAOTD!

Oh, and you goobers who post without even trying the software.... please stop wasting everyone's time.
