This tool can make a lot of disasters in your system, for me finished to recover the complete PC, I get troubles deactivating legal software services like Nailperion security for my SDL Trados Studio.

Even uninstalling the application did not solve the issues related with my other software, System Restore di not worked as well. The only solution was to run Acroniss True Image and roll back the system.

The main idea for this software looks very promising, but developers should have to consider exclusions.

The descriptions of Privacy Optimizer on their web site are very high level, or more bluntly vague, raising questions as to what benefit is provided. Does anyone have any details as to exactly what Privacy Optimizer does?

For example, how does Privacy Optimizer obscure the unique fingerprint that a web browser conveys to a server such as fonts installed, versions of software, etc? Changing IP addresses is a small part of privatizing browsing.

Hello Tom Post 135. Yes I recieved a E-mail and a Installer from Badasoft. unfortunatly I could not get that to install successfully either.

This is the E-mail I just sent to Badasoft.

Hello badasoft

thank you for the extension and the Installer. Unfortunatly it still refuses to install and still presents me with an error. I have turned off my antivirus software, my malware software and even turned off my firewall and tried it with the Windows XP Pro Firewall turned off and with exceptions permitted.

nothing I do will let me install your privacy software or even get a key so I can register it. I am at a loss of what else to try I have done everything I know how to in a vain attempt to get this software to instal.

I use a primary log on hard drive. Lets call it E drive but my Windows Files and My program Files are stored on Drive C & Drive D. I have a operating system split across 2 drives. I do this as added redundancy and a bit of extra protection should something go wrong with one of the drive.

That way I can rebuild the damaged drive using either one of the other hard drivess providing 1 of those other 2 drives is still functioning. It is not a raid system per say it is just a mirrored copy

So if you can suggest anything on what I should do now because I am now at a loss for what to try now since your installer refuses to list or name the error that's causing it to crash and or refuses to let me install it...

A Screenshot of the constant ongoing nightmare of this undiagnosed installation problem has been included. Though I am sure there are many other GAOTD users that wish it would report what is causing this error because perhaps then we could figure out what we need to shut down or do in order for it to install

For now from me this product by Badasoft gets a thumbs down. I think it is still far to buggy and is deffinetly not yet ready for commercial sale or release beyond the beta stage.

Badasoft do Let me know if you ever get it fixed. I would like to try it and test it side by side Comodos Free Internet Security Suite and there Private browser Called Dragon.

You can also see portions of this e-mail over at GAOTD

I downloaded and installed the software yesterday and received a serial number. But I had difficulty entering it to the satisfaction of the software. Now, trying again the next day, I'm told it's too late.

I notice that there is a lot of enthusiasm for this product. From both the votes, and the number of comments. And I must admit that I am one of those interested in at least some aspects of the current GAOTD offering. (And thanks to the GAOTD folks for bringing us such interesting downloads!)

I also notice that the assertion made by Micky1 in comment #101 that Privacy Optimizer sends encrypted data to a BadoSoft server, remains unchallenged. The occasional transfer of information between software and it's developer is not necessarily a cause for alarm. This is how software can update itself. On the other hand, the fact the developer feels the need to encrypt the transmissions feels very suspicious, and makes me wonder what exactly is being hidden.

So I am going to make several questions out of it.

1) Is it true that after any function is completed by Privacy Optimizer, that it sends encrypted data to a BadoSoft server?

2) After Privacy Optimizer has been installed, does it send ANY data AT ALL back to any server at all? (AKA, does Privacy Optimizer "Phone Home" at all, other than for upgrades and security patches?)

If it does NOT, you have answered my questions sufficiently, and may stop here.

3) If it DOES, then what is the nature of this data, and why is it encrypted? Does this data include any information about websites, downloads, filenames, filetypes, or filesizes either browsed, downloaded, or that simply exist on the user's computer. Does the data contain any identifying information that can be used to tie that information to an individual, user, machine or IP address?

4) Lastly can you provide any proof that what you say about the purpose and nature of the data is true?

The implications of Micky1's claims are very disturbing, and I cannot try this software until this issue has been addressed.

No 133, Rick Frog, did you or anyone else receive the new installer mention in No.131?

I know I did made a support ticket on their website and also email their support email last night too as specified in No.50. I use my personal email.

Until now, never receive any new installer.

Badosoft mention about giving everyone the new installer that contacted them.

Does it include emailling them and also create a support ticket?
If yes, that means what mention in No. 131 isnt true at all.

So I am still trying to understand the folder protection piece. What does this software do different than simply zipping up folder with a strong password does not? You encrypt the folder, but to access you have to totally decrypt it - which takes time for a large folder on both ends. I see this as no different that zipping up a folder.

I tried to install this file yesterday but unfortunatly there was a problem during the installation and it never proceeded to install I even did the rarest of things I even tried to install it by turning off my firewall and antivirus relying strictly on Windows Defender and the built in Firewall of Windows XP Pro SP3

Still no dice I tried it again with IE8 set as my default browser again no dice. there was some sort of problem during the installation and the file just would not install. I am a bit more than disapointed in that I could not install this program in time to enjoy it. I tried a second download incase the first file was corrupt but that did not help either.

I really wanted to try this software and there private browser to see if it is as good or better than Comodo's Browser and Cleaning utilitys.

Perhaps the next time it is given away I can get it to sucessfully install. Thank you Badasoft and GAOTD for giving this program away. Even if I do not get to try it out I thank you all the same for this looked good.

I did not vote up or down because I simply could not get it to work. But AI must admit I was tempted to down vote it, but the intallation problem may not be a bug from Badasoft it may be there is something on my PC that is preventing it from sucessfully installing

I have installed PO and like it so far. As I look at the About feature, I notice the "valid until" statement: valid until next major release. Does this mean at any time, say release 2.0, this copy of PO will stop working? Will I lose everything stored in Folder Protector and Password Manager, etc.? This may limit the usefulness of the program since I will not want to lose that information.

I read all the comments then went back up to read the features again debating if I wanted to try this program or not. Before I could decide, I noticed the system requirements; 1GB for RAM, I have 738MB Ram on XP Pro sp3. Oh well, I don't need to decide now. Thank you Badosoft and GOTD for offering this program.

Win XP SP3 Received email code no problem and installation went perfectly, just let it do its thing.
Remember to click setting cog, top right , then untick check for up dates, or tick notify me before instal , otherwise you will lose the free offering.

I would recommend anyone here trying the prog. I would prefer it if the prog would auto proxy your existing browser , or option for say Firefox and IE , rather than have its own noddy browser. Also a button to take you to a link to test your IP / check it is anonymous / showing a proxy address rather than your own.

Anyone who comes to GAOTD often knows you take no notice of the thumbs up or down. There is a group ( kids?) who love to click thumbs down without installing the prog on offer . Any day look when a prog has only just been offered and there would be loads of votes from people who would not even had time to instal it.

I have been trying all evening to install this program, but when I put in the serial number and click "Continue" I get an error message saying, "We apologize, but There was an error with our server. please try again later. Thanks!" This has been happening for 3 hours, and I really have to go to bed. As you know, the program is not installed yet at this point- it's just in limbo waiting for the server to feel better. I can't stay up any longer. and I really wanted this program. Can you give me an extension for tomorrow? I already have a serial number- I just can't get the server to check it. I also made an account on your site with this same email. Please let me know what I can expect tomorrow. Thank you very much for everything you have done and everything you will do!

Folder Protector seems to be a bust. I created one test folder and put some things in it and selected to encrypt content. No shortcuts were created to unlock the folder. I also cannot unlock the folder any longer. It is not taking the password that I had set on the folder. I attempted it again on another folder and again no shortcut was created. I did not select to encrypt content and this time I was able to protect and unprotect the folder. So how do I remove the protected folder which is now wasting space? And what is the advantage of using this folder encryption if it is not on the fly. You have to encrypt the entire folder and unencrypt to get access again.

I'm sorry but does Latency Optimizer also include Connectivity Fixer features? Because to me it would be nice to have both those things in one software. I would love to try both of them but I'm not sure how long trial lasts. If it last only for a day then I wouldn't bother trying.

Privacy Optimizer seems to be okay so far. I hope it doesn't eat too much memory and that it actually gets job done. So far it didn't detect anything thought I wasn't really putting it on test.

Almost nothing but problems with registration and accessing their page and all the multiple re-post comments by the developer and they still have 75% thumbs up????? That doesn't happen here unless it's Ashampoo or something similar -- especially not with all the download-registration-demand an e-mail problems most seem to have.

SOMETHING VERY STRANGE GOING ON WITH THESE FOLKS . . .

* * * * *

Up to this point there have been 52 comments, of which 22 have been from “Badosoft” the developer. I can’t seem to get anything positive from all the comments I’ve read thus far. Totally confused at the “User Rating” of 71% thumbs up and 29% thumbs down….especially when the comments do not reflect anything good about this software. I believe I’ll pass this one by and not even download it and waste my time as so many others have so far today.

This software promises so much, but delivers so little. The first time I tried to install it, I entered my email address, got the SN. Entered the SN to find out it wouldn't accept it, because of some open ticket rubbish. Tried with another email address and got another SN, and that SN worked and the software installed. I then tried out the features in the software, to find out that there's only really a few components I might find useful. Thanks GOTD for offering this software. It was worth a try since it cost me nothing, but I don't think I'll continue to use it.

I am running a new install of Windows 8 64 bit on a SSD and have been unable to get this to run at all. After the activation pop-up from the GOTD wrapper there is an error message that says "failed to launch the program" support at badosoft blames this on the GOTD wrapper. Program installed flawlessly. I like that the download and installation progress information is given. I am a data guy. Even though the status is given in the lower left corner, it would be nice to have the info for the upper right buttons shown as the mouse touches them. When the settings button is selected, it shows "check for updates". That may invalidated the program overtime. That might be mentioned to GAOTD users. Could you give verification that allowing the definition database to update will not invalidate our download.

Personally, I have not read your setup guide but I feel your interface is intuitive and slick! I plan to use your folder protector but your welcome screen forewarns me about data loss, therefore, I will read necessary instructions.

The first time I opened anonymous browser, I got an error message stating that another instance of a browser was open. I did have IE open. On a subsequent test of the same situation, the anonymous browser situation worked fine with IE open.

Even at 1.0 it feels like a solid product. Thanks for the giveaway today.

Of course SPOTFLUX is an excellent product (it's also a very good VPN for iphone and ipad), but after testing it a few weeks ago I noticed a remarkable slowdown of my (already slow) web connection.

ULTRASURF is much faster...trust me!

And it's also PORTABLE: in fact what I have to do is simply to launch its .exe file from my desktop....that's it (so the outdated Firefox instructions you mentioned in your comment are not a problem for me)
