I installed SayOnce and it appears to work fine.
Except for some misheard words.
What I would like to know is whether the program will learn over time to accept my voice, or is there a corrective software that will help to improve on the voice to text translation? To show what I mean, I will read back the above into Say Once and you can compare the above to the following:

It got off to a good start but now it will only respond to the HotKey when it's in foreground thus it can't write into any application. What did I tweak that broke it?

Well, this time I am rather pleasantly surprised. This program is really quite good, tracks better, and is easier to use than both Speechtexter and Speechnotes, which I also have installed on my computer.

While dictating, how do you tell the software to insert a new line or new paragraph?

The English text is OK in notepad, for example. I trieed to dictate in Arabic, with no response (No text). Arabic is listed between languages. Is there a limitattion in ths GAOTD version as to available languages or there is something to be done in aettings to enable additional languages?

Suh Sab, this program is based on the Parakeet TDT 0.6B language model which does understand 25 languages but not Arabic.

I cannot see the text I dictated (Mic on, Shows that Dictation in pregress, when I finish, Mo text is visible anyehere).

Tried to test it on a 5-minute interview, but it would only transcribe about half of it.

Easy installation. I've used a lot of soft orbit software, so this was fairly easy to get the install key. I've tested it a bit, and it works great. I've tried to use the Windows speech/text tool, which comes with the OS. That tool is a nightmare for me. Way too many options. Except for having to hold down the hotkeys while talking, this program is really simple. Reminds me very much of the Text Dictation tool found in Android. I wish it could toggle on and toggle off.

Christian, to toggle on and off instead of push to talk, uncheck the "Push to Talk" option under Settings/General.

Since this handles mp4 and other video input, does it do .srt (or other subtitle format) output?

Prashant, it is not on their website. I am not asking it it transcribes audio from video - I was hoping for a subtitle file, which includes far more information like timestamps and "in / out" marks, etc.

David Jaynes, another SoftOrbits app does exactly this: TranscribeIt: Audio & Video to Text Transcriber.
And it does create .SRT subtitles. IMHO, not nearly as good as Subtitle Edit which does a far superior job and is totally free.
