Years ago I got a much earlier version of this software here. I only used it a few times but it did everything claimed & not only did it well, but it was quite user friendly and experimenting with many different effects was kind of fun. There are no screenshots/illustrations with the description today, but if you search for previous giveaways of this program you will see some, and what it does is pretty neat. If you are someone who can use these types of effects on a regular basis, I definitely recommend trying it.
However, when I installed it, the giveaway came with a lifetime license instead of being on the subscription model. That software was on a computer that died a long time ago, so I don't have it anymore, but I will not be getting it today for several reasons:
1) I only used it sporadically over several years, and don't know that I would have any occasion to use it in the next 6 months.
2) After the giveaway period, I definitely would not have a reason to use it frequently enough to continue a license at $15/mo ($180/yr)
3) When I first got it, this was a pretty unique product, at least at the general consumer level. There may have been Photoshop plug-ins and other tools for professionals, but nothing like it for the average, amateur home user. With the explosion of AI tools online in the last 2 years there are many sites where you can upload any photo and have it generate versions all the effects available from this program and more. I'm not claiming the results will be as customizable, much less superior, but if you're only doing this with a handful of pictures a year, it would be free and not require installing anything on your computer.
Thank you to the GotD team for bringing this back, and to SoftOrbits for offering it. I will recommend it to anyone who would make a lot of sketches (charcoal, pencil, pen, watercolor) from their photos. SoftOrbits, please bring back the purchase/own model. I expect a lot more people will buy this software than want to rent it by the month.
