There is a HUGE problem with this software. It must hear the whole movie to generate the subtitles.
Much easier look for published subtitles and then run SubtitleEdit to translate, if needed.
Thanks anyway.

ok, I used an external NVIDIA card and it worked, but (!) when I translate an English video to another language sub on the fly it is pretty inaccurate. Offline AI sub generator engine is greatly outdated and dummy. Needs a lot more development to catch up to speed on this market!

Well it turns out to be it is not working as it advertised. Still stick with the Cloud AI.

After Install I just got a "Waiting for subtitles" Yellow Text on a black background. No GUI. Restarting NexSub brought up the GUI.

Seems like this is targeted more for the hearing impaired crowd then the anime looking for translated subtitles crowd. Still, if its accurate, it's not to hard to dump the .srt file into llama or similar offline AI, have it do the translation and ignore the timestamp data.

It doesn't say much about it here. My understanding is you need a chunky Nvidia Card to run it, but I'm not sure which Languages it supports. It's been given away a lot but I couldn't find out if it's safe to run, it seems likely it is the original program from the authors though, be nice to know more about them...

I note some reviews elsewhere:
"Also it DOES NOT TRANSLATE the spoken text into another language as the description and user interface implies it remains in the spoken language "
"oh all steelsoft AI products vomit out a few gigabytes of TEMP files onto the system drive when processing and leaves them there when the program exits containing many subfolders with python files and compiled python and copies of the AI model inferences rather than keeping them where they are chosen to be installed. They are not built to be easy on the systems they’re installed on."

According to AI:
Hardware gate: It requires an NVIDIA GPU — without one, it won't run.

Lee, this is pretty much standard for local AI

It's probably good software. Thanks!
