I did not find a place to enter the registration code. it still let me recover more than the 1gb for the unregistered verision . does this mean that it is registered. the about from the menu does not say.

I ran this on 2 different machines - one a tenth generation i7, and one an 8th generation i7. The 10th generation machine finished in about 18 minutes scanning a 10TB drive, but the 8th generation machine is still running and appears that it will finish at about 3 hours total scan time.

That said it seems like it mostly does what it says, although the giveaway version only allows you to recover 1gb of data. Not very much in todays world...

I would like to buy it to recover much more data, but the price is to my mind a bit extreme. I guess if you need to run it in 3 separate locations it's not too bad at $99.99 for the year, although I really hope I don't need to recover a whole drive more than once in a year. But the "Home" addition - which to be fair seems to have all the capabilities of the workstation version - is priced at $69.99 for only one machine, and that just seems like a lot of money for something which you should hopefully only have a very sporadic need to use.

Bear in mind that the prices above are for a one-year license only.

If you want to buy a lifetime version, you're looking at $499.99. That may be okay if you really are a technician and can run around recovering every machine in town with your lifetime license.

They are also showing an iCare Format Recovery package, which is probably more what I would like to have, but that one has the same pricing structure.

I don't know if this company compiled a price vs. demand curve but it seems unlikely.

Simply put I think the Home user should expect to pay about 1/2 of the single machine license price for a lifetime license, on a single machine, but perhaps I'm living in some earlier decade...?

Simply put: It does what it says it will do, but the giveaway only does enough to whet your appetite.

I installed the program without a problem and it seems to work fine. However, I couldn't find anyplace on the screen to register the program, There also isn't any indication that the program is registered or not. How do I complete the installation?

Good morning! I just installed this Giveaway without problem. It asks for a Windows pack, couldn´t remember the name, but also it got installed. Then I checked my pc and I have a similar program which was offered here in the past: "iCare SD Memory Card Recovery" is the name. My question now is: Is todays program better than the older one or are both necessary? Let´s say, is in today´s program the older one included? In the description it says: "...including the hard disk, external disks, usb flash drives, memory cards etc. ". Thanks in advance for answering. Have a great day!

Hans Oellers, This one is a newer and more complete version than your previous 'SD Card Recovery'. It also contains the newer and better working of that, personally would have uninstalled that one, and installed this one, but will not hurt having both, other than more space taken up on storage, for the same program.

Hans Oellers, I would say today is better as it also does Other hardware as well as memory cards..
Considering one of my hdd had a issue. thanks to windows checkdisk.. which said "deleting file reference" followed by a number i ended up loosing 600gb of data. files renamed to .chk which meant they overwritten other deleted files.. This program however is of NO USE to me.. as it would rename the files and put them all in 1 folder.. i watched the video.. and as there would be 2million + files to go through and Resort.
I tried 2 other apps.. Recuvva

TK, cant exactly image a 2tb drive.. when you dont have another drive to image it to.. or make a backup to.. even more so when you go out and BUY a 5tb harddrive to recover the data too and then as your going through the files recovered you end up getting a 0x8007045D message when deleting file you don't want.. and the files are on the NEW DRIVE.. infact 36,000 of them
Faulty Hardware: A damaged hard drive, corrupted files, or malfunctioning peripheral devices can lead to this error. If a disk is failing physically, it can halt the installation or file transfer process.
the file is probably corrupt due to it being recovered.. But how the how do you delete the file when all you get is 0x8007045D in a popup window.. except of course to FORMAT the drive.. but then the irony.. this is the drive you RECOVERED too.. I used to backup using dvd-r,, but i stopped due to how many it would be required for 2tb.. 1 dvd-r 4.3gb. 2tb 1.81tb or 1875gb..
