A problem: I am using 18 images, 1200 pixels wide, and varying in height from 630 to 770 pixels in height. I chose to use a custom image for the watermark. The watermark image is 680x220 in gif format. The watermark content is two words. The background is set to be transparent. Using the Watermark Software program, I shrink the watermark image by using the corner dots, making it roughly 120 pixels wide by 40 pixels tall. I then placed the watermark image at the lower right edge of the 1st image, and slightly below the bottom edge to ensure a bottom line on the watermark image does not show. I changed the opacity to 60 to be barely noticeable (would prefer being able to set this by entering the value as well as the slider, only because it is difficult to slide to a specific value compared to entering a number).

The preview looks fine as each image is processed (looks faint as expected), but when I look at the output, the watermark image portion (two words) is very dark (no opacity). Also, the position of the watermark has been raised up so high that another watermark image would fit below it. Of course, the line I attempted to hide is very visible. I suspect the movement is due to the different heights of the images, but even the one I set up initially does not remain as set.

The background transparency does seem to work as expected. I used each of the blend modes, expecting them to mean the same as they do in PhotoShop. Regardless of blend mode chosen, the output appeared to be the same.

I cannot see how the watermark can be set to appear the same distance from the edge consistently with all images. I would prefer a method that allows me to set a number of pixels from the edge, allowing me to chose the reference edge/corner of the watermark, or use a negative number to force a portion off the edge of the resulting output to be off the image. The free IrfanView program does an excellent job of this, allowing for exact control and positioning of the watermark, regardless of the varying sizes of images.

I noticed that if I have the checkbox to open the output folder, for each run, the program opens another duplicate Explorer window of the same folder. With it unchecked, at the end of the run, the dialog reports that the work is done, and to click the OK button to open the output folder, which does not happen (because the box is unchecked). If the user has control of whether the "open output folder" is checked, the dialog should match.

A lot of functions were removed from version 7.6. Need not be a bad thing because of the many faults in the previous versions. But, also no layering order can be set: outcome after clicking on Run remains uncertain. Can't think of anyone who is serious about photography but would use this program as a first choice to watermark their pictures.

I do not have "Clear" button on the bottom of the home page as was in previous version. How to remove loaded photos and add different folder without closing program?

This is sweet ! Installed & registered perfectly on Windows 7 Home Pro 64 bit. If you want it in your Start Menu, you can copy and paste a shortcut there. Just do a search for Watermark Software 8.0. Then go to My Computer, C: Right click on it, choose " Create a Shortcut," and paste that into My Programs on your C Drive. Then you Watermark Software 8.0 and GOTD!

I just tested out the interactive method...it looks decent enough to keep. I normally watermark from a saved LR export profile where two watermarks are applied...one readable, my website info, a logo of sorts in the bottom right corner, and second, one large text banner, barely visible across the center of the frame to deter image theft. That's fine when exporting from LR so I don't really need this. But this software is handy enough to keep to experiment with other WMs for me.

A couple of issues: I could not find an undo or reset. I tried putting on a frame, but then wanted to remove it from the working space (of course, I know it didn't affect my file without saving). I couldn't find a "clear" option. Same for the picture effects. No clear that I could find. And the standard icon for undo, the circular arrow (backwards), is used for "check for updates". What's up with that?

I'm looking for software to do just the opposite... remove watermarks! Not for commercial, just for personal use. Anybody have any suggestions?

This looks like a decent program but I cannot access any of the tiles in the help center. Is there a User's Guide or tutorial available? I have found one tutorial on your homepage, but it is for version 7.6 not 8.0. They are similar but it would be nice to have a guide

Aoao is a frequent contributor to GotD. Watermark Software" is one of Aoao's bewidering variety of very similar products. They are mostly "one-trick ponies", but competent ones. Thanks, Aoao and GotD.

Just a word of warning. Sometimes with Aoao products, if you don't deliberately select "Run as Admin", the installation appears to fail, but actually gets instally into the Users...AppData folder (without any indication that this has happened). If you then install as Administrator, you end up with two installations on your computer.

Just a comment about the website makeover. There has been a marked diminishing in the number and quality of comments since the change. It is generally just that bit more user-unfriendly than the old style. Sometimes there's mkore than a grain of truth in the maxim "if it ain't broken, why fix it?"

Pros:

Downloaded, installed and registered easily on W8. The resizable interface is appealing & generally user-friendly with text buttons and tooltips for the menu icons that lack text. Image views are available including 1-click 1:1 view and Fit Screen view, plus + / - buttons to zoom in and out. It was easy to add custom text (plain or with supplied effects) & custom images with blend modes. All the watermark images & text can be positioned, resized & edited. Multiple watermarks can be added on the same image. Saving & import/export of watermark templates is an option.

Cons:

There is no drag & drop capability. The Open dialogue box didn't allow my AnVir button for favorite folders so I had to search for my desired image the old-fashioned way. Upon attempting to save the watermarked image, the output folder box is pre-populated with "C:\Users\{name}\Documents\AoaoPhoto Digital Studio\Aoao Watermark\OutputPic\" folder! There is the option to choose a custom folder location, but it's the typical "Browse For Folder" box again with no AnVir favorite folders button, meaning trudging through folder after subfolder to find the same location the original image is in. Lastly, here is no undo function!! The button with an "undo" icon only checks for latest releases of the program. With no "apply" button as well, applying and undoing effects can be unnecessarily tricky.

Pro or con, you decide:

For those who like clipart style icons, there are a good number of cartoonish images provided to use as watermarks. This program also does image resizing (by pixel & percentage), offers a number of picture frame graphics (many are actually texture & light overlays and are very appealing), and even the option to rename the image. There is a screen for adding image effects like grayscale, blur, warm, sketch, mosaic and others. These are pros if you want all this from a watermarking program or if you feel a watermark program should stick to excellent watermarking.

For me, I'll keep the program, but it's only benefit over other watermarking programs I've had is the blending of overlay images. Otherwise, $30 is quite high for that alone, in my opinion.

It was 7 month ago when I review the program and is my first watermarking program and I guess my watermark does not look very nice but I do like the program due to its easy to use and professional in watermarking my photos and it’s working great on me. Here's my review and I expect the new version.

I install programmes under the administrator account but then switch to a user account, like many other installs this does not appear in the start menu of any of my user accounts, only the admin account, which I don't use on a day to day basis. I had to find the programme in explorer after some searching, add a shortcut to the desk top but then had to re-register, if those extra steps could be avoided to allow installation to all user accounts, it would make things much easier.

The first link is not linking to the Watermark software for pictures. I wanted to buy, but it's the software for videos. Is possible to correct?

I have to say, I keep following this brand for years on GOTD. They are famous for making niche photo related software. Almost all their products are easy to use. This one seems a big improvement of theirs. Hope to see more appealing products in the future.
