@32,
Although uninstalled, the license is still there. Doing a re-install of the program will be fine.

Ok, I tried this for the same reason as Powder Skier #27. I like templates. :)

First, I noticed the templates are for PowerPoint 03-07, so an older version of PowerPoint. The ones I tried did import into Power Point 2010 without much effort, though. Secondly, I notice they are free downloads, whether or not you own the Kingsoft product, so that is not really a reason for downloading this software.

In the end, I noticed that this has a basic presentation softare feel, but it is not Power Point. There are many features missing, including the ability to turn the project into a dvd movie. (something that is very helpful when doing off-site presentations)
For this main reason, I am going to remove this program.

I also did not appreciate the way the program automatically associates my Power Point files with itself. I clicked not to do this, but either I missed a request (possible) or it did this automatically.

If I did not have Power Point, this is a smaller program than Open Office, so I would not mind it, but it still has issues with compatibility with Power Point. Although the first presentation opened in compatibility view without much effort, the presentation with several animated illustrations and sound did not.

I am running Windows 7, 64 bit.

Addendum to #14 Van.
Everyone keeps making comments such as: “don’t complain..It’s free”.
In the past 12 months or more, after a Windows crash, I have been finding between 1 and 4 programs have become 'deregistered' or 'evaluation' status. I am sure Kingsoft will say I need to buy a copy of the software.
When I need to re-install, I am sure Kingsoft will again say I need to buy a copy of the software.
So it is not free but on 'special loan' offer.
Thaks to all, GAOTD & Kingsoft.

Yes BEWARE, if you install this and already have other KingSoft apps installed, THEY WILL BE DELETED without any warning.
In this idiots case, I had their Office Suite Pro and now it's gone.
I think it is reprehensible of KingSoft to do such a thing. I was impressed by their software and am now depressed by their installs. Oh well, I'll either do a restore or pirate their programs. If they don't care why should I.

Better off with Google Docs or Windows Live Skydrive. Zoho is a distant 3rd to those two.

When I start the program I get an error message? " The activation of you copy of Kingsoft Office failed. Authorized usae on this computer will be limited. Prior to your successful activation, you may only view documents in Viewer mode, and may not revise any documents."

What's up with this? Why am I getting this error code? Please help as I would love to have this program.

And yes the spelling error " The activation of you ( should be your ) "
is in the error message and not my error. I find a few spelling issues with Kingsoft.

WinXP SP3 .

I already have kingsoft Presentation and I would recommend it. Make sure you download some of their free templates. However I am concerned if it is true that you instal one of their products it could or would uninstall another one.

First of all it shouldn,t but if true then it should made clear on any giveaway before people download.

In spite of all the negative clicks, I downloaded and installed the program. No problems with Win 7 - 64. Didn't even have to register the program, or jump through some vendors extreme hoops.

This was easy to install, and pretty easy to figure out. What really sold me on trying (I already have MS Power point) was the HUGE amount of FREE templates Kingsoft offers on their website (http://www.kingsoftstore.com/download-office/ppt-template-download). I'm sure others offer templates, but this whole process was so easy I couldn't resist. Plus, IF I decide to buy the program it isn't expensive (at least by MS standards.)

This appears to be a good program that won't bog down my system. II you need PP, why not give it a try? Even if you don't think you will, it's free today, so...??? JMO.

Thanks for a nice program and all the free templates.

My vote goes to Ashampoo's Office Suite (technically a variant of Softsuite). For those with any vision problems, this suite allows for the use of large icons in the toolbars, plus full-screen width at the touch of an icon, fully customizable toolbars, as well as fully customizable everything, and complete compatibility with all of the other programs mentioned in the other comments.

To my delight, this giveaway is rather good I'd say.
I think I keep it. I still use Office 2002 Word, and this today comes in handy. The King Office Presentation is easy to use and it's lightweight with low system requirements, though my specs are pretty good.
Would love to see a portable app of this, because of its size it would be just too perfect for USB.
Thanks for that GOTD

Much nicer than LibreOffice/OpenOffice. But go to the Kingsoft web site and download the free Office Suite. Why limit yourself to the presentation tool. There's little that the "average" user needs that the "pay version" offers.

Disable the background update checker and install the MS icons for your office docs defaults.

For busy individuals, an online VIDEO showing the capabilities of a program is quite ESSENTIL. Online video is the first thing I look for. I was disappointed.

I have tried this and am not as impressed as I once was. Kingsoft programs, I've tried several, all take over and re-label to Kingston.

The free version of this program does the same thing as this one.
The major differences are a larger number of templates and backgrounds. Nothing else seemed different between the "professional" (free) and the "standard" ($19.95) versions.

It is nice that this company offers free versions of nearly all their programs. But it is annoying to have it re-label everything with a K and start up even if not your default setting, asking if you want this to be your default. That I said "no" the last time, matters not, it will ask every time. If I want to use that program but it is not my default, it should need to be turned on, not automatically start-up each time I use the default program .

For me, those two annoyed me enough, especially needing to answer the "make default?" as it started-up, and then needing to get rid of it (which is a simple click but I got tired of it).

From my experience, all the free program start-up and ask the default question if it is not labeled default. This presentation standard does the same, so odds are the others also do. Re-labeling should not happened without my permission.

Good to have alternatives for MS Office for those teachers, students and individuals in developing and poor countries, please consider this issue. I know it is not recommended to advise someone to compete with MS Office, but well done.

Best free alternatives IMHO are 1. softmaker 2008 office suite. This allows you to install presentations module separately if you like.I also like IBM Symphony suite 3.1. I admit I have not tried Open Office suite.

Kingsoft installation
Some time back I installed the GAOTD Kinsoft word software followed some time later by their database offering now we have the presentation software. Problem is the database offering uninstalled the word program and I presume this will uninstall the database software. So if you want free copy's then you are out of luck you have to decide which you want, you can only keep one of the 3 Kingsoft freebees as each installation removes all other previously installed Kingsoft software.

Everyone keeps making comments such as: "don't complain..It's free"

Well YOU miss the whole point of this site. It may be free to those here today but technically it ISN'T free. Others have to pay. The whole point of this site is so companies can offer their products and get the following feedback:

Program itself -- Including and not limited to:

How it runs, how well the options and such work, any issues found (bugs), Setup and installs, features present, what it might be lacking or suggestions to make it better, etc.

The overall opinion of their program and type of program. Is it useful, is it something that you could see paying for against the competitors and free programs, does it hold up to or compare well with other programs of the same type, etc.

Finally....yes...the listed cost (price). You know...the price that people really have to pay that is clearly LISTED near the top of EVERY GOTD Offer under PRICE.

Its already known to EVERYONE HERE that yes...today on THIS site people can get it for free. OTHERWISE they would have to pay the LISTED price...which is NOT free.

Companies are looking to find out users opinions and thoughts on all aspects of their product....PRICE IS ONE ASPECT.

So stop whining every time someone mentions that the price is too high because "it's free today" That isn't relevant at all to the listed price.

Most products are a clone of something and then changed or tweaked to hopefully make them better in some way. Whether to add features or make a lighter version, or even to make it compatible with another system.

This is one of those. Yes, there are free office programs and suites out there. Yes, some have many more features and options and some have less. This is one that, according to the company, is lighter and runs faster (amongst other things).

The best advice anyone can give is "Try it for yourself". If you find it a good program that meets your needs by all means use it.

If not or if you find issues with it let others know. Contact the company and let them know what you have found or feel about their product.

If you think its a worthy program to recommend let everyone know some details of why that is...outside of just a "it's good...or looks nice".

Installed smoothly on XP sp3, and seems an effective alternative to Powerpoint. I like the fact that both Classic Style (with menus, like Office 2003) and the more ribbon-like 2012 Style Interface are supported (would that Microsoft did the same). It would have been nice to be able to embed rather than link media files, but in fairness Powerpoint was very limited in this regard until 2010.
It doesn't save to .pptx (no real loss in my view) but does export nicely to pdf, one page per slide. As stated, file sizes seem to be considerably smaller than with Powerpoint (the file I tried was compressed by more than 1/3).
Overall, it seems to be a good program: I'm surprised it didn't receive a more favourable response.

The kingsoft office suite is great for low end pcs, small space and memory footprint. I have the free version that works great on a computer where open office and microsoft office would slow it down. Very easy to learn since the interface is just like microsoft office, with zero bloat. It may not have all the tools and features of MS office but all the ones most will need. The giveaway paid version give you a ribbon interface just like office 2007/2010.

Kingsoft also has a free office suite on android if you need it.

Loathing is something I have also experienced. For instance, I loathe cowards who use drones to kill innocent people. However, software demos? Loathing? Really? Perspective, son, perspective.

Kingsoft products seem OK, judging by the tenor of most reviews and the price for this seems very reasonable, not to mention its free price tag today.

This GAOTD is only the STANDARD & LIMITED version of the main program as part of the Kingsoft Office Suite!!

So in my huble view there's absolutely no point of downloading it or even to buy it!!

Why?? Because you can do the same things and even more for FREE, of course (but psss don't tell it to the developer of this GAOTD....LOL!!)

For instance how about grab a FREE & PORTABLE clone of Microsoft Office Suite?

Too good to be true?? Certainly NOT!

Here you can find an incredible collection of great FREE Office Suites (Desktop & Portable Office Suites, Personal Finance Software etc…)

As usual you can take your pick dudes....

http://www.ssuitesoft.com/software.htm#36278701

But, if you don’t want to install anything in your PC, why not use ZOHO, the best online Cloud Office Suites available on the market right now??

This amazing online Office Suite is capable of replacing any Desktop Office suite mentioned above, as it not only offers Word processing, Spread Sheets and PRESENTATIONS but also provides you with the Wiki Pages Planner for managing your to-do list, tasks and notes, and several other features that are or better yet should be an integral part of any office application suite out there.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating!!!

Enjoy!!

Tested out the program on a .pptx file made by Softmaker 2012 and the result was not convincing: characters with diacritics were suddenly displayed in another pointsize and the spacing between the characters was poorly adjusted. When I tested the same file in MS Powerpoint (2oo7 and 2010) everything was just fine.

This is the 3rd time I've seen this on GOTD. The first time I installed, it changed all my MS Powerpoint docs icons to the Kingsoft icon. I found that a bit irritating, so I uninstalled. They have a lot of work to do in order to compete with MS.
If you cant afford MS office then this is ok. If you can, rather stick to office.

This is just a clone of Open Office or Libre Office, both of which are available for free and with most of the stuff that comes with MS Office. There is no point in wasting 20 bucks on this.
