Some android phones comes with their own software, and others don't. However, there's some freeware and some cheaper ways - if today's offer won't work with your device. I have one Huawei, and they developed Hi-Suite, which works with some other smartphones as well. I recommend, you check, if your device allready have a backup program attached to it. Otherwise, you could check this out : http://www.tomsguide.com/us/pictures-story/633-best-android-backup-apps.html

Thanks a lot for the offer, but by obvious reasons I'll pass....but I won't miss to back up my contacts - not to mention my ROM ;-)

My newer HTC 816 Desire android phone won't allow me to unlock it via the keypad. HTC suggests trying a complete reset to see if it corrects the problem. They think it may be sw update related. Once I reset they say I will loose all text and contacts. WILL THIS APP HELP TO RETRIEVE ANY OF THESE AFTER MY RESET?? I can't find anything that will.

If you connect it to your computer, does your computer see it as a drive? If so, you could make a copy of your entire phone. If not, and more directly related to your question, if you don't find any other way to do it prior to reset, connect it to your computer AFTER reset, and use a Windows recovery program (e.g., Mini-Tools, Hetman, etc.) to try to recover the information. Not ideal solution, of course. Might not work. Just a thought.

Also, when I had my first smartphone, it wasn't unusual to have to remove the battery to have the phone return to normal usage. I thought that was way in the past, but I have recently had to do it with a Galaxy S4. Sad it it works, but it did for me.

Install to computer seems fine, but it ends there. Computer finds phone then immediately loses it, while app shows up on phone. On phone it says to scan QR code to connect...there is no QR code to scan. This is on a Samsung S5 fully updated.

$59.95? You've got to be joking right? There are so many other apps that are totally free or under $3.00 that does this and more! I seriously can't see how they ever expect to sell this. However, today it's free so I figured I'd try it out. From what I attempted, not good. I recovered all the contacts saved to the phone, but none that was saved into google (that's over half of my contacts). As for the SMS, it did...ok. didn't save the entire thing, but did go back pretty far. All in all, I wouldn't pay for this, and I'm not keeping it. To many out there that run better.

Will this program copy all Android SMS messages to your computer? I don't want just lost ones restored, but all saved as backup to my computer, and the whole thread in order, with date and times attached. Will this iStonsoft do that, do you know? Then I can free up some memory on my phone.

Hello Levitiquetus,

If there are so many that are cheaper and better... please share them with us, so we can take advantage of your research.

Thanks in advance, for taking the time to post.

I was going to try this but I will wait for the better alternative that Levitiquetus will post.

http://vibosoft-android-sms-contacts-recovery.en.softonic.com/ is what I normally use. I've never had a problem with this one, and it has recovered every contact and the entire sms threads that I've tried it with. But a simple google search will provide a lot to test out. Make sure to have total backups if your just trying to test it out.

Seriously, Levitiquetus, your program recommendation is also $40 (formerly $70) and it looks like today's giveaway! So, what are your low budget (< $3) recommendations?
