Functions are too rough for any kind of retouch. Useless for my purposes, other programs are either richer or better performing

InPaint is one of my favorites,For everyone who had problems I downloaded and install the software by running Setup.exe, then I extracted the activation program and then I checked the about field it asked to buy or enter reg code I Xed out and closed the program,I then went back and ran the activation program Activate.exe from the the extracted file(there should now be symbole of a key).
The software is registered if the about field doesn't ask you to buy or enter a reg code, backtrack to#43 Rick D explains it in detail.Thank you TeoreX and Gaotd team. Everyone have a great 2013!

@#62 Lynn - Too late to be helpful but it'll probably come round again (Hopefully as 4.8 incorporating the worthwhile suggestions!).

Try unistall with something like Revo Uninstaller to strip all the old registry info and then install again. I've found in the past that firewall and security suite software can prevent GOTD installations completing or running at all. If you have problems with other giveaways this might be the cause.

In the meantime, use the web version of InPaint.

Well, I guess my question won't be moderated in time to do any good. I've gone to the forum for help but there has been no response; when I uninstalled, I answered the reason with the error code but no response. The really bad part is that I lost my installation of v2.4; now I have nothing. Live and learn.

Just installing a fresh MS XP OS, and saw this excellent previously-downloaded program upon fresh-installing Opera12. Downloaded, but as #33 mentioned, it Installed fine, but...DID NOT OPEN. An Error report went to MS (big deal!), but as it is, I'm unable to use Inpaint47. Well, thankfully there's now an online version, so...I guess that will have to do. Shucks, though, as I'm olde school, and would rather have my graphic utilities available on my desktop. If there's a solution, how about posting it another day, please. Great little program, otherwise, from previous usage!

Have this from last time! But I find it more fun to use my old paint
software from 2003 that came with my ancient computer! I have gimp, photoshop, Caricature Studio, Funny Photo Maker, Babarosa Gif Animator, Babarosa Gif Animator, Retouch Pilot, Pencil and mutiple other art and picture spoftware! Many that came from great old gotd! But love my paint! My question to all you skilled picture altercational dudes - this abiliy of inpaint to delete items out of pictures is super plus item for less skilled or people who don't have desire to cut and paste!
Does any of the paint programs that come with newer computers have this ability??

InPaint is one of my favorite tools, and as Rob mentions above, the Clone Stamp tool is not quite the same as Content Aware Fill. This means your vanilla photo editors which offer the Clone Stamping feature will make a mess of your delicate photos, if you try to do what InPaint can achieve easily.

And InPaint gets better with each version.

So go grab this excellent giveaway, and its small-size (just 10.7mb after installation) is perfect to have this little gem tucked away in a corner of your HDD, but when you really need it, InPaint is a lifesaver.

In fact, as far as I know, PhotoUpz, Retouch Pilot, Lifesniffer Free Blemish Remover are the only other popular tools apart from the evergreen (and expensive) Photoshop, to allow Content-Aware-Fill.

And now, here's the best news of all. One that'll blow your mind.

The program loaded fine in W7, 32bit. I can't be sure that it activated because there doesn't seem to be any indication except right after I ran the activate.exe I saw the message that it was.

This program does work extremely well at removing unwanted stuff from the test photo I used (leaves, other peoples feet appearing in reflections etc).

It would help if there were popup help messages when you mouse over the various commands etc. Otherwise, thumbs up!

It is definitely a keeper. Thanks Inpaint and GAOTD!

Same problem here on saving a file. The activate.exe file seems to have not worked, and the program keeps asking you to buy or enter serial number.
I tested this in a previous Giveaway on a different computer, was eager to see the changes. It was an excellant and easy program to use.

Please let us know how to activate or provide a serial number so that we can test.

Thanks!

Many thanks to GOTD for rerunning this software giveaway (I missed out on downloading the software in a previous giveaway so it's great to see it here again). Thanks also to Giovanni for his wonderful review with list of free alternatives. The software (Inpaint) works very well and I have used it to touch up some old photos with excellent results.

Have a great day everyone! :)

The readme file says, "Unzip the package you`ve downloaded and install the software by running Setup.exe, then run the activation program Activate.exe which is included in the package to register your copy."

I did exactly that, but when I run Activate.exe, nothing happens. I tried it with InPaint closed, then open, then with the "enter serial here" dialog box open, but it still won't activate.

There are no error messages like some others have reported seeing.

My question: I have an old version of InPaint. Version 1.0, believe it or not. Coincidentally, I had a need for this tool just a few minutes ago and this old version worked perfectly in this instance. I don't want to lose this version. Does anyone know, if I download today's offering, is it going to install itself over the old version?

As noted in #34 & #26, I downloaded and ran the activating file. I then moved the file to the program site and ran it again. The notice came back "Acitvated" however, the program will not allow me to save and when I try it ask's me if I want to buy it. If you send me the serial, I will NOT pass it along.

Thank you, TomB

Installed on Win XP SP3, updates as of 9 Jan 2013. Installed ok, but on launching terminates immediately with an exception error. Too much gobbledy-gook to quote here... Had no trouble with Inpaint v2.3 on same computer. No other issues with this computer. (Compac Presario; about 8 yrs old, model # uncertain...)

Hi Everyone,
Well, I was really glad to see Inpaint 4.7 Come available again! its a great program and does pretty much everything it says it will do, some photos vary a little depending on what your removing and how complicated the background is etc. but for the most part it works Excellent! and is a life saver for the perfect photo that has some people or other undesired object in it to keep it from being the perfect photo..
I had this app back in 2010 and because of a HDD problem I lost it! it was version 2.xx but this version seem to be a bit more refined and seems to do a little bit better job, I use it a lot, and you can touch up the photo in Photoshop if needed and your all set.
I downloaded and installed on a windows 7 Home premium 64bit, With an AMD Bulldozer 6 core, at 3.4GHz, and 16gig of RAM, and all the other usual stuff. (o; It went with out any problems at all I let the install run and then ran the free activate.exe and in a second or two it was all done and runs great! No Problems at all..
For toughs that are having trouble telling if the software is registered or not? When you first install it and open it and go to the "Help" tab and click "About" If its unregistered your will get 4 tabs to look at and one of them says "Register" if you click on that it will ask you for the registration Number! Now AFTER you run the Activate.exe and you open the program again and open "Help" and there will only be 2 options available: "HELP" (Takes you to a nice on-line WEB site that gives you) "How To" and nice samples of how it works, what to do and what you should see. The other option is "ABOUT" and it shows the program version "Inpaint 4.7" and to links to the "TheInPaint" manufactures WEB Site! There Will Ne NO "REGISTER" option and NO Place to enter the Registration Numbers. That's It! If you see that the program IS Registered so Enjoy..
This is a great and FREE Today Photo app, It is Very reasonably priced at $20.00 Dollars, Don't miss it today! (o; For me Inpaint 4.7 gets two Thumbs UP! Thank You Inpaint 4.7, TheInPaint, and GAOTD for making this Application available for all of us today at no charge to use and play with to our harts content. Thank You, Everyone have a Great and Wonderful day, Always Have Fun! Rick D..

Installed flawlessly and activated after re-starting the program on Windows 7-64. After marking the flaw on several photos and then just pressing the play button I was actually impressed. Of course I did not expect the software to perform miracles. This is the easiest way to fix images short of "photoshopping".

Amazing - I'm good with the three thumbs up and a zig-zag finger snap to go with it. I can tell a lot are not aware of the fact you can fine tune the replacement fill by sizing the selection box that shows up after you use the marker. Whatever you select with it will become your fill content. Watch the tutorials, they'll make life easier.

A few minutes ago I downloaded Inpaint, ran Setup which seemed to work ok,but when I ran Activate.exe I received the error "Giveaway of the Day has encountered a problem and needs to close". I went through this routine twice with the exact same result each time. If I can't activate the software it's of no use to me. Please respond with an activation file that will work, or I will remove the software and remove myself from GAOTD mailing lists. I don't have time to waste on things that don't work, regardless of whether or not they are free.

Every attempt to refuse the additional programs canceled the installation. Oh well.

This tool takes some practice to work well. It's not perfect but I can't live without it. Removed a power-line from a photo of a great sunset perfectly and even a few cracks in a very old family photo. It's not been totally successful in the removal of a watermark such as a TV Network ID on a graphic but then again if it was that would defeat the purpose of watermarks. Thanks for this repeat so it can be used on new PC's and by new GOTD visitors.
I had no problems installing on Windows XPsp3 and Windows 7sp1 (with Admin rights).

#17 - RICK, best to you as well. Nice to see someone who can find a silver lining.

#19 - Agreed. If I am really serious about getting rid of an artifact or other unwanted object in an image, I will use several of these apps incl. Photoshop and Zoner side-by-side. Sometimes it takes one pass, other times a lot of trial and error tweaking. Each delivers different results, some better and some worse, varies with every image. Sometimes get amazing results. Have been using Inpaint since before it was called Object Eraser and then renamed Inpaint again. Always rec this to others.

#22 Lynn, no guarantee the vendor or anyone here can help, but you might want to try posting the specific wording along with any codes or hex numbers it's giving, or even better, upload a screenshot of the error popup using something like justpaste.it so everyone can take a look.

I disagree when I keep seeing these posts that imply a clone tool is the same as InPaint. Sometimes the density level here is just like stone - I've gone on at length on this many times already here....

They are similar, but the hard edge on a clone tool is usually unnaceptable for a good repair because you see the hard circle edge, and the most commonly used soft edge makes mush in the sorrounding are of the repair.

They all have their uses, and the clone tool is effective and can be used in combination with InPaint, but InPaint uses an algorithim that stitches the new pixels into the repair differently than a clone tool, and it is a different result. This intelligent stitching tool (Content Aware Fill is what it's called in Photoshop - not the clone tool) is also found in newer versions of Photoshop and some other programs. Although similar, it is NOT a "clone tool". Check out the tutorials for content aware fill, it's a little bit hard to find and do the first couple of times in Photoshop, where InPaint is a breeze. You use the selection tools for "Conent Aware Fill", NOT the clone stamp or patch tool. If you are using the clone tool from the toolbar and thinking this is the photoshop alternative, you have no idea what you're doing.

I use both tools alot, and frequently my stitching image repair tool needs to be used in multiple passes. I suggest you try playing with it if you are unfamiliar. It is a necessary tool, and although similar in function it is NOT A CLONE TOOL. For certain types of repairs I prefer InPaint's algorithim, otherwise I use the "Content aware fill" in Photoshop when I need this type of repair.

Thank you TeoreX for giving this away again. Sadly this new year my hard drive went up in smoke. Thanks to Paragon & Eausus I have manged to save most of it such as over 30GB of family photos & video that would of been irreplaceable but for those programs.

Thanks to them & GAOTD I had some nice off site back ups stored away. I have rebuilt and rescued what I can, but sadly this was one of the programs lost. Now I have another chance to reinstall it and update my new hard drive backups to be made tonight. So if things should go to crap again, I hopefully wont lose this program again.

I lost all of the Games and programs that I have. I lost most of all the PC & home entertainment stuff I own because of a small fire. but I would never have managed to download and instal all those great games and programs without the kindness of certain company's and to Giveaway of the day.

It could of been so much worse than it was. I have been on disability since 2008 and living on a minimum budget since 2009. I don't have insurance so Most if not all of my PC & home entertainment items such as the programs and games I have installed over the past few years are beyond my budget to replace.

Thankfully I have good friends and family & I can rebuild with a minimum of down time 2 days of being offline 1 day of waiting for a new apartment. It will be a few days befor a new hard drive to arrive which has been donated by the kindness of friend from my local church.

The rest of my computer stuff such as the Monitor, CPU & Video Card & Ram, I got cheap from Reboot Computers On Hastings street in Vancouver BC. most of it is Obsolete stuff a few years old but it is good enough for me and actually better than what I used to own. The hard drive was a spare one I had in storage.

I still live in the same building but I am now on a new floor and this ones actually wheelchair disability friendly. Sadly the previous owner died but it was vacant & I got it. The old suite will be a month before it will be livable again.

Anyways I am rambling so lets get me back on topic, thanks to the companies like TeoreX, Bitsum, Eausus Paragon & far to many more to name one by one. Thanks to the kindness of those company's that provide their programs for Giveaway of the day I have got to enjoy many programs that have been beneficial to my life that I would never have had a chance to enjoy for as long as I did.

For the kindness of some company's I have had 5 years of extra enjoyment getting to play some great games and use programs that I had installed on my PC that I would not have been able to afford on my limited budget.

Even after using my hard drive back ups thanks to Easus and Paragon the rebuild got me much of my stuff back but sadly this was one of those programs that refused to work after rebuilding my Hard Drive programs and registry form the back ups I had.. So I am very happy to have this easy to use program for removing things like power lines and other simple blemishes you need to have removed from your photos..

Anyways that's more than enough about my Life Let just say This program is a must have for its simplicity & I for one am thankful its back.

Peace to you all in the New Year.

Really, Really upset this version of Inpaint keeps getting an error & will not work. I keep getting an execution error. I loved this program. This GAOTD, already given away here several times in the past, is probably the cheapest tool out there designed to remove objects (people, text, watermark etc…) from any photo you may run into, although you should not expect wonders like removing an entire building or a whole person from a pictures (only PHOTOSHOP can do such wonders...LOL!!), since it can only remove small objects flawlessly using the surrounding pixels in order to avoid leaving any traces around.

So THUMBS UP from me!

That being said, there are three little FREE GEMS on the market right now which do the same job as Inpaint, namely remove imperfections or even unwanted objects from a photo and honestly I was very much impressed by their final performance:

http://www.rw-designer.com/image-editor
http://www.gimphoto.com
http://www.photo-toolbox.com/free/clone-stamp-tool.html
http://photo-toolbox.com/free/photo-blemish-remover.html

YES, they are all amazingly FREE of charges unlike InPaint!!

And how about IrfanView??

So in theory there is no need to pay anything even for this kind of apps!!

Please note that the first (PORTABLE) tool mentioned above not only is able to remove objects, red eyes and blemishes from your photos with its clone tool, but it can also make animations (flashing buttons, animated forum avatars, filmstrips etc…), create professional logos, buttons and/or web icons, as well as change shapes of your pics with the Shapeshifter tool (Liquify in Photoshop’s terms).

So, despite being FREE, it looks like more complete than InPaint: do you agree with me folks?

Are you a Linux user? No problem (psss don't show that to the multibillionaire Bill Gates....could become angry....LOL!!):
