No Steve, I assume GOTD follows the ratings and if it has a high negative rating then maybe it should stop just accepting anything, especially when there are free alternatives that are at least on par with the paid software.

Hehe..really Steve, no one cares what I think? So why did you reply!

I have downloaded this video converter but have not installed it yet. According to the website i have to download this software within 24 hours which i have did but not yet installed.
So i wanna ask whether the license key provided with the software will work anytime i install it or i have to install and register the software within 24 hours only.
Would really appreciate a reply
Thank you.

39$ for a video converter? Wow! An okayish interface which uses a hell of a lot of system resources and takes too damn long to complete a task. I keep experimenting with various converters and I like Freemake video converter. Some of the new ones I used and liked are XMediaRecode and easybrake. Have a nice day fellas :)

#7: I have used Xmedia Recode for stretching a video, using the sinc filter and they actually look pretty good, at least to my eye. I had to do this because my camera records 1080p mp4 in 1440x1080 resolution (avchd is normal 1920x1080). It embeds the 16:9 aspect ratio in the file and players are supposed to stretch it to 1920x1080. The problem is not all players do this, so I had to convert them.

I wasn't going to bother downloading this, but from what I am reading here, I have decided to give it a go. Thanks, Wonderfox.

"If I see software here that does not interest me, or is for a mobile only, or for a specific OS that I don’t have then I will give a negative rating.
That’s MY rating of the offer. GOTD can then see if something gets a high negative score but only a few negative comments then they can learn from the statistics."

But Piquet, that assumes two things. First, that GoTD has a vast storehouse of free software giveaways. Unlikely. They give away what they can get.

Second, and perhaps most importantly--no one cares what you think.

Also, why after doing what is supposed to be a clean uninstall (and checking to remove all traces, of which it says there are none) when I reinstall does it still remember that I've activated it? Where the hell is it storing that information, and if the install is corrupted how am I supposed to fix it when you won't let me completely uninstall?

Very frustrated, and not holding my breath that this will be addressed--or even posted--before the giveaway is over.

Color me cranky.

Try to launch program, get "Unable to write to C:\users\blahblahblah\documents\wonderfoxsoft\hd video converter factory pro\se001.ini", then "Access violation at address 009742fd in module 'videoconverterfactorpro.exe, Read of address 00000014."

So, that sucks.

I have Wonderfox DVD Converter from a previous giveaway. Is there a conflict?

#35 "To all those people who complain about the negative votes." Seems to me if you've used it, you've tested it. If you haven't used it, then voting it down makes no sense. If you aren't interested in the software, move on and don't put in a rating. You are just undermining the rating system.

I happen to like WonderFox software. However, one thing I have found is that the "Smart Fit" settings lead to more errors than anything else. I usually adjust the output settings manually and it definitely works a lot better.

Converting to H265 is a whole different ball game from H264 and it will take considerably longer.

Even my i7 takes many times longer, so in reality, H265 is not going to be as popular for long videos.

It is the same with VP9.

Converted a FLV file to AVI, and much to my dismay the audio/video was terribly out of sync. I then converted it again using a different program (ANYmp4toolkit) and the audio/video synced correctly.
I'm going to have to give this program a thumbs down.

My Process Lasso is showing 100% Processor and responsiveness use while converting a .flv Video file (294 Meg). I noted the conversion time to hopefully get an MPEG4 H265 Video output which shows a 7% conversion so far after just ONE hour. At this rate I have to wait 14.2 Hours more for completion. On the HD Video Converter Factory Pro screen it shows 13 hours and 33 minutes. That ties up with the 7% approx. Why the long conversion time frame ?..

nice app today!!! works faster and smoother than the old wonder soft video I have, but here's the real deal. they want $9.99 for upgrades and support which is not bad, however they don't say if it's for a lifetime or just 1 year. listen up for those who don't pay for the upgrade and support you must follow these instructions if you want to keep this great app: Open the program and go to options, (That's the little hammer icon at the top of the program.)uncheck update automatic and save. if you don't follow those instructions you will lose your program when it update as Goatd don't do updates, upgrades, and or support. follow those instructions and you should be fine.

I have been using this software in place of other software so that I can take a DVD and get just the movie from it in .mp4 format.

It works excellent and I don't have any complaints from using it. I don't need a separate software installation to "prepare the DVD" before I can use it.

I'm considering purchasing the $9.95 upgrade deal since that's really inexpensive! :D

Three OS’s on my computer, two XP Pro and Windows 7 Pro, only the latter would convert to H265 without crashing, but even with a 4 core machine and a GPU it was slow.

As #24 Teek pointed out playing a video through a modern TV can often improve the apparent quality of the video. I've not had a TV for 20 years but have noticed that playing through my friends TVs of videos I have converted often look considerably better than on my computer monitor.

#12 WonderFox
The video I tested in my previous comment was "The Crush" a delightful short video but the quality was so poor that even the facial features were pixelated and so it was impossible for any converter to give it any quality.
I find your output selection interface by far the best I have seen, so much better than those long lists others expect you to scroll through, as I said a really decent converter.

As I have used this particular program in the past I will try to keep this more based on a comparison from "then" and now"

The software company has taken feedback and have improved on several key factors of the converter since the last version I had. if I was to rate the product as a whole I would give it probably a 3.5/5 or a 4/5 star rating. If I was to give it a rating from the old to the new version I would definitely give it a 5/5 as they have taken customer feedback and used it to improve the software and it's great to see when a company does that.

I will more than likely spend the $10 and buy the complete one with upgrades after seeing the changes that have been done as I do work with a lot of videos that are in SD and I will convert them to HD and put them on youtube and such.

The one thing (like most converters ) that I really like about this program is the vast amount of SD - HD and HD - SD video file types there are.

Please could the WonderFox Support Team tell us if it does 2-pass conversion as I have seen this frequently make a much better quality conversion.

To answer some of the comments I have just read

Converting to HD is going to make a MUCH larger file. You are putting a great deal more information on the screen that is why. A 1920 x 1080 resolution HD picture has 1920 x 1080 pixels in it = 2073600 pixels. A 320 x 240 picture has only 76800 pixels. That means converting 320 x 240 to 1920 x 1080 means 27 times as much information. Now compression will take care of some of that, but it is always going to be much bigger.

Converting to HD (AKA "upscaling") is really only so devices that cannot upscale for themselves can play the video file. Most devices can dothe conversion themselves and so converting to HD is of questionable use - With one VERY IMPORTANT exception to that. When you convert something to HD, you have to space out the original pixels in the video and then "guess" what pixels should be between them. This is called interpolation. Now you cannot really put back the details that were never in the low-definition video to begin with, so a poor original file is ALWAYS going to look bad converted to HD. That is not the fault of this program - No one can "know" what details were never recorded in the first place. However, you look at the horizon in a picture and you can guess that as you space out the pixels to make the picture bigger, you are likely to have the horizon go in a continuous line between those two pixels. you end up doing that for everything on the screen - guessing which pixels should be connected to each other. Now some software is better than others at doing this. That is why a lot of people have found for example, that old video tapes or Standard-Definition DVDs will look better when the TV upscales the picture to HD NOT the video recorder or DVD player. The software in the TV is more sophisticated at "guessing" the missing pixels.

That is why poor source video will always look bad, but you should still try different conversion programs as some still will make a better apparent HD version of it than others.

Not sure of comment #3 "Some minor bugs need to be improved", that he bugs need to be better, or is there a comma missing somewhere?

Meanwhile back at the ranch I noticed 56 thumbs down, but only 1 or 2 negative comments. So GAOTD still not fixed the "no negative unless you post a comment", which would help both users and developers.

Why add "pro." to its name?..

At least, it works in old PCs: actually converts to H.265, + does not require Net Framework.

Now, what makes H.264 & 265 interesting, is of course the ability to optimize the weight/quality ratio of converted videos;

and THAT has once more been forgotten by the programmer:

As usual (will programmers understand some day?.. so far: hopeless), conversion options allow: either one-pass CBR (constant bitrate encoding), and that means poor quality OR heavy weight results;

either VBR (variable bitrate) conversion, BUT: no maximum bitrate setting ("3 quality levels" only)
, + done in one OR two-pass? unclear...

Therefore, even as a an amateur/beginner, you will soon wonder if that nth gadget is worth it (may be to test your pad with H.265 video?).

I normally wouldn't give two hoots for a converter; there are literally thousands of freeware alternatives. This is a different story. I put this converter on a pedestal; the output quality is superb. I used Aieesoft Total Media Converter (given away here) as my choice until I acquired this gem a little while ago. Very easy to use and pleasant to work with (some can be a real pain in the a**) it has become my converter of choice even though the conversion speed is a little slow vs Aieesoft (speeds may vary from computer to computer due to different system setups). I haven't uninstalled Aieesoft, but I haven't used it since I got this one either. 50 Gold Stars! - George

Installs well on 7SP1. It just happens that I need to convert a VLC stream captured Sunday to Iphone MP4 .
I like that on trimming mode you can see the actual frame the markers are on. 44min clip took about 7 minutes to convert and I don't see any use of my CUDA GPU (I5 2400 all cores at 80%) The file was correctly trimmed.

very bad...
After conversion is done you can't re-encode or mod your settings if needed, you have to reload the file and start allover. why?

Thanks for the nice offer from GOTD! I bought another program DVD ripper of Wonderfix, not bad. It can rip almost all of my dvds, and with a great speed. Wonderfox is a dedicated developer, so maybe this HD video converter is worth trying.

Downloaded and installed on my Win7 32 bits system without problem. Register with the license key successfully. A video program with pretty good interface and it’s easy to use as a simple converter.

Abundant video formats are supported, but I can’t find iPhone 6 / 6 plus device format in the Output format list. It works great for conversion, and it is actually very fast. What amazed me is the H265 and VP9 format. As its name, it will definitely be an awesome HD video converter if the 4K format is included.

This program is fair enough, thanks for the special offer…. GOTD!

I came across WonderFox HD Video Converter Factory Pro several months ago, and bought the software to give it a trial, at that time I was obsessed with converting SD to HD video. You know, I hate the free version of anything, because it will always be bound to get restrictions to some degree on the features. I enjoyed the software so much that I felt I'd got my money's worth, and till now I still assumed it’s the most amazing one among the software I have used.

Not just a video converter, it allows me to download my favorite Vimeo videos, and then turn them to HD files, to play on my Nokia phone. The speed also surprised me a lot. I didn’t notice the conversion process but just get the perfect target video file. Love this software!

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 8.1.2 Pro 64 bit system. It installs a FirstOff.exe as advertising software - but you can delete it without problems.

A (Chinese?) company without name&address, the "wonder" family. Digitally signed as E-Mig Technology - the same as with the Aoao Photo software.

A modern stylish interface opens, small and not resizable, in the settings you can define the output folder, the number of used CPU cores, you can disable the GPU acceleration and you can disable the updates. A "force mode" in the HD settings promises clear pictures - but a slower conversion rate.

You select your video (you can merge them) and the output format - from SD to HD or vice versa. There are dozens of presets - which can be finetuned with the settings. You can also download a video - not tested by me.

The selected input video can be trimmed, cropped or modified with some presets (the magic wand) to brighten or or darken, pencil sketch, blur or more noise. The old film is included, too.

This all works in my short test fast and without problems. Does what it claims. The "old video" settings are in my eyes not good enough for an "old video impression".

One of the many video converters with the additional capability of modify the videos in various aspects - e.g. the "pencil draw" mode.

I have uploaded a short test video as pencil draw. I have made this (non pencil) video yesterday as test for another video production software. The pencil draw works on simple and calm pictures. A 75 Mbyte AVI file, reduced from a full HD video to an SD (1280x720) video. Have fun!

Here's the file:
http://www.xup.to/dl,34201119/My_Video_avi_Output_1.avi/

I still do not need dozens of video converters. Rebooted...
