This doesn't work. I downloaded it - all of the files - and it installed. However, it does not work. I get a message saying it "stopped working". It never did work. This is on a system that runs Windows 7.

This is a very nice, relaxing, and fun screensaver. I put it on my old Dell laptop (WinXP) upstairs and it's perfect, although I would like to hear more of the "water" sounds. It seems to run a little slow and doesn't have a great deal of variety in the scenes; however, it's just fine for the machine it is on.

AGs screensavers need a big update to take better advantage of the higher resolution of monitors today, especially the higher detail. Most of the detail on these screensavers is so simple that they don't look the least bit realistic.

@G comment 19. Do you want just a picture for a screensaver? I am sure those are easy to find as well as finding a program that will make that for you. I had a program like that, it allowed you to put different .bmps together to make a slideshow. I think slideshows are unimagine and boring. I like the 3D effects of the new screensavers.

I agree with comment 10 from GaryF, screensavers should be called screen art. I am happy to see another AstroGemini Screen Art here, love them, Thank you AstroGemini and GOTD. On their settings page of the screensaver they have a box to check, 'show FPS'. What is FPS?

Didn't work for me. Windows 7 64-bit. The dialog box where you change settings was too small; controls on right and bottom cut off.

Also the splash screen displayed while loading was unwelcome.

I went to the Gemini’s website and the 3 Sample Screenshots did Not look “Appealing” or “Realistic” …

There are five categories at the site, each containing several screensaver examples, Nature, Holidays, Fantasy, Space and Speciality.
As for asking $10 for it, remember that only folk who want the software are being asked for the> $10. It's only expensive if you don't want it.

I have to admit screensavers are not for me, but some will enjoy it, and that's good.
Thanks to both Astro Gemini Software and GAOTD.

Installed easily for me (Windows 7, 64 bit.) However, settings box is too reduced to be able to access all of the options. No way, for example, to set time factor or resolution. Nice idea but needs some technical tweaking to be truly of value.

Good morning all,

If you miss today's nice giveaway, I'd like to share with you another very nice alternative, from a safe, reliable, reputable site that offers 100% free screensavers all the time - please click below to access this great site:

New Free Screensavers

My personal reflections on Astro-Gemini Screensavers

I have no personal use for today's offer, as I've already been a longtime satisfied user of Astro-Gemini's screensavers. In fact, I bought their lifetime screensaver subscription package awhile ago - for a great discounted price - Astro Gemini's screensavers are pleasant, pretty, tranquil, and entertaining - so, take advantage of today's offer while you can, for sure, since it's free.

By the way, I do not work for the company, nor am I in any way affiliated with Astro Gemini - I am simply a very happy customer - that's all.

...and with that said, I wish everyone a very safe, happy, healthy Sunday.

"[@1 Fritters: read the “readme.txt” file included in the ZIP:

Here’s the GCD info which IS in that file:

“!!! .GCD file included is necessary for correct installation and activation. Please make sure to extract all enclosed files in the same directory.!!!”

So, just extract ALL files in the ZIP to a temporary directory & install it from there.

Cheers,

Insp. Bucket"

Tried that, too, same problem. I doubt this is entirely stupidity on my end since I used to be in tech support, although I will admit not recently. Perhaps you could spell this out slowly, since I have tried A: installing from a temp directory to a different directory and making sure the gcd file was local for those and
B:installing to the same temp directory the setup was in
and not had success with either? And yes, I did a full uninstall previous to those tries.

#7: "But how bout PORTABLE screensavers??"

If you are content with the default settings, most every one of these screen savers from Astro Gemini is portable -- if you change the settings that's saved in the registry, but even then the few lines it takes is less than a lot of stuff that claims portability, so it might still work for you.

-----------

#11: "We down-under are in Spring now!"

Maybe install it & use something else for ~6 months, like 1 of the spring screensavers offered several months ago. :)

---------

#19: "...the 3 Sample Screenshots did Not look “Appealing” or “Realistic” … why Not just Killer Real Pictures of Sceneries, more Realistic … you know Great Fall Sceneries from around the World … or something like that."

FWIW I think there are 3 main choices when it comes to screensavers/games: 1) render the characters & environments as realistically as possible, but that increases cost & horsepower requirements. 2) render the same stuff at lower, hopefully still good enough quality to reduce costs & requirements. 3) use images & video not rendering anything, which has the lowest requirements but is often the largest size on disk, especially if you include multiple monitor sizes/resolutions. The last is the least common, but you can fairly easily DIY for that sort of screensaver using free or low cost tools if that's what you want.

Windows 7 Pro 64-bit,

Downloaded and installed fine, No problems.
After viewing this screensaver, I found it very relaxing and tranquil.
I will enjoy running this screensaver when I take breaks from gaming or other times I walk away for awhile.

Thanks for your comment ... but I would have also loved to see your "Review" of the Grpahics for this ScreenSaver.

I went to the Gemini's website and the 3 Sample Screenshots did Not look "Appealing" or "Realistic" ... why Not just Killer Real Pictures of Sceneries, more Realistic ... you know Great Fall Sceneries from around the World ... or something like that.

Thanks!

Downloaded and installed easily, as is usual with giveaways from Astro Gemini. Love the park scene and rain sounds. I expect there will be complaints about the sophistication of the animation and, yes, it could be more realistic. Still, it's relaxing and decorative, with elements of fun. I'm always happy to see a giveaway that has no other intent than to give pleasure. Sometimes we just need that.

It looks like there are some people who get their pleasure from being petty. I don't understanding giving a thumbs down to software they haven't even tried or because it doesn't interest them. The adult thing to do is check and, if the day's giveaway isn't of use to you, move along and check back tomorrow. It's silly to think you're going to like, want or need every day's offering and to be unhappy when that isn't the case.

Thanks GOTD and AG. Keep the fun coming!

I don't very often comment but had to share this - I'd stopped grabbing the screensavers because they didn't work so well on my XP machine; however, I have recently just upgraded to a new machine and love screensavers...so I'm giving it a try. So far I love it. It seems to be working quite well and is a nice change from my "normal"/"favorite" screensaver of YoWindow. Thanks GOTD!

I just downloaded/installed. To avoid problems, I just created a separate folder, extracted to that folder, and installed. No issues with installation, and the screensaver is running fine. It's a little too 3D in parts for my taste (graphics are too blocky), but not a bad screensaver. I'm one of those people who like screensavers still, even though there's very little need for them anymore.

#2 You think maybe it's because the company is located in a place where it is autumn now? Do you think it's because they want to make a lot of more business by offering their products to a large country like the United States? If you want a spring screen saver for your computer in that magical make believe land that you live in, why don't you try buying one from some company that is actually located some where in your fairy land. Even if you have to pay for it, and it's not free, still you can have spring outside in Emerald City, and also on your monitor. Duh!

DMonroe @#4 Good on you mate! A lot of times I wonder why it has been necessary for some people to make comments that don't seem to have much to say - constructivly - about the software on offer for that day. I feel that we as consumers are very priveledged by what GOTD and the software developers offer us FREE - that's FREE !!!!!
Thankyou

Speaking of screensavers or 3D screensavers is one thing.
Then there is another thing called quality.

I was sifting through their website looking at all screensavers.

To be absolutely honest about their screensavers, for kids they are OK. Some of them need a seizure warning, though.

One thing I cannot justify is asking 10 bucks for it, because the screensavers are at very low quality from an artistic point of view. Saying, they are nothing special.
The screensavers lack the “WOW” effect. Where’s the beef to ask for ten bucks?
You get a nostalgic flashback reminding of the old Windows 98 times, but we live in 2012 with DirectX 11 and OpenGL 3.
If I would see a well crafted and animated screensaver of Transformers how they morph their shapes, then I’m happy to accept 10 bucks and my kids get a visual experience with the WOW-Effect. But these screensavers today are no more worth than 1 Dollar.

Thank you Astro Gemini Software and Giveaway of the Day.
I, for one appreciate your Software and the Giveaways !
Dis-regard the Voting system as too many vote down without even downloading.
You know, I know, we know, Screensavers are no longer necessary. However, they are still beautiful and fun !
I check everyday, download and try most, but rarely comment.
Users, please re-consider your selfish votes.
If you don't need or like the current giveaway, just check back tomorrow.
If you Vote, please do so after you've tried that giveaway. After all, it is free, and GAOTD and developers work hard and need your honest feedback.
Thank you GAOTD, and keep 'em coming !
p.s. No, I don't work for any of them !

To the GAOTD team:
For some time now, there have been rumuors of another side to the world.
(Although I reckon thats bollocks seeing as the world is flat and yet to be proven otherwise)
In this magical, make-believe land, the seasons are the opposite of your own.
If this place existed, it would be spring there.
Perhaps you should also cater for these hypothetical people.
