I just today received my first-ever phishing scam email. The link takes you to what looks like a sales web-site. DO NOT ORDER FROM THE SITE LISTED BELOW!. They are trying to get Credit Card numbers to rip you off.

Has anyone else received this same email? Mine came from someone with the last name "Oden"

Here is what the e-mail looks like.....I am purposely leaving out part of the link address so that no one can actually go to the site.......

    Thanks Creamy,

I regularily get Phishing scams from Paypal wannabees and also a cuple of banks, but I always send them on to the appropriate 'authorities' Paypal have their own address for dealing with such scams:

    spoof@paypal.com

I send all Emails I get from Paypal (apart from those I'm expecting after making a purchase) to this address and so far every one of them has been a scam.

That's interesting. I've had PayPal for well over a year and never had a single scam e-mail. I feel left out.

That's probably because you're so security minded. My kids have compromised all my computers over the last few years. I've just formatted all the drives on my main computer and have decided to ban the kids from it as i was fed up of trying to remove root kit malware etc. I don't know how the PayPal scams have come about, but I do use PayPal a lot.

I'm forever getting PayPal pfishing emails too, as well as several banks (some of which I don't even have a credit card from). I've got the spoof@paypal.com saved in my address book permanently. Some of them won't even go to them because my email acct. won't send them since they show up as spam! But that's also why I'm using a little email program called spam fighter. You should see all the junk that goes in there!
    EDIT------------
Just now got one from PayPal saying 'update your email address'.. and it doesn't even really show the email.. it just shows their html codes! When PayPal sends out a legitimate email it will have your name on it but I never go there by clicking on any email links...

My ISP provides a free spam protection service so 'most' of my spam goes to my 'spam inbox' which I visit every few days. I just look for names I recognize, if not, they all are deleted (I have seen as many as one hundred per week). I don't even open them so I am not even aware of the contents of the email. If I sign up at a website I provide them with a webmail address, not my normal email address. I use the same attitude with my normal email address, if I do not recognize the sender, I don't open the email, it gets trashed.
