  3. The files and links were fixed when the problem was first mentioned. (The files were on a different site - and the links were submitted into the freeware library).

So the links have been removed - in theory (according to McAfee's rules) GOTD is now "safer". Maybe one day soon McAfee will update their own records - but they have a history of updating at glacial speed.

A much better option is http://www.mywot.com which has wider coverage than McAfee - better alerting/reporting options - and it won't nag you to upgrade to a "pay-version" (because there isn't one).

You can run WOT alongside SiteAdvisor in case you are having any final last minute pangs of loyalty towards McAfee.

BuBBy.. I just installed WOT .. thanks for the link! First I couldn't see anything on a rating, then saw a big blue O on top of my page. Thought it would show up beside my red McAfee SiteAdvisor bar!

  5. hahaha - when I said "you can run WOT alongside SiteAdvisor", I didn't actually mean the icons would literally be next to each other.

OK rephrase - "you can run WOT at the same time as SiteAdvisor".

    How's that? :P

Click on the big 'O' and down the bottom should be a "Guide" you can look at, which explains what everything means - "Ratings, Warnings, Searching, Pop-ups, Advanced" - give you more options so you can make WOT work the way you want it to.

  6. Bubby....would you happen to know offhand if WOT works with Maxthon's browser?

Thanks for the explanation BuBBY. Someone posted a warning about the giveaway project over on a site that I admin for Crysis and Battlefield 2. I did try to explain that it had been sorted, but not having any proof wouldn't have helped. I've now posted a link to this post, which i hoipe will allay any fears that those who vivit the site have.

I hope all is well with you guys. It's been a very busy few weeks for me (apart from being ill as well) so I've not been around much. Hopefully I'll be back soon.
