We have a thread for laughs, one for funny pictures and one for ladies jokes. I though it was time to start one for truly amazing and inspiring things that we can share. I'm going to start out with a few that impressed me and we'll see what becomes of it from here. There has already been some great stuff posted in the other threads that would fit into this category. For instance the injured eagle story, the polar bear vs. sled dogs, the Rhino advertising trucks, Ilana Yahav - Sand Fantasy - Video Clips and probably many more. So here we go....

graylox- You're welcome. But I cannot take the credit for finding these things. I've either received notice of them in emails or have seen them on blogs. I do tend to investigate some of these things further in order to locate the original source, whenever possible. It bothers me when I get an email with pictures or a video attached that say something like, "check these awesome paintings out! Really CooL!!" They do not let me know where the paintings came from or who the artist is. So I start searching the web for the answers and usually find even more wonderful things.

Buckleysmom - What a truly amazing young man. I used to work with someone who's younger brother was born without arms and legs, although he had stumps. He was a teen at the time but was very independent too. He would go all over the place with the other kids in his wheelchair that he controlled with is chin and mouth. I'm not sure where he is now or what he's doing as that was many years ago.

  8. Maizey.....Yeh, that's partly why this caught my eye so much. When I was 19 I had a friend with no arms and both legs were secerely deformed and very short. He had enough shoulder that he had a prosthetic arm with a hook, he drove a car with a ball that was attached to the steering will that he could control with his hook. We teased him because his driving was a bit wild. This guy had the sweetest voice and sang with another guy (who I had a crush on). Their names were both Jeff so they went by "Jeff & Jeff".....how original, huh? The other jeff sang beautifully too, even better as far as I was concerned. Anyway, his website is here: http://www.tinygiant.com

Thank you maizeydaze for starting this thread and taking the time to post your links here for the rest of us to see and check out.Buckleysmom;I really liked your link to the young man's video on Godtube. I don't usually post too much on the forums, but I do check them out to see if there is anything I can learn or use. This is one old man who is trying to learn new things when ever he can.So I wanted to thank you both for teaching me and giving me something to think about. May God Bless you always.

Thanks Maize - Super links - I'm only just getting started ...

I especially love the injured eagle story (what an inspiring bond between man and nature!) and Paper Cuts (this man is a truly gifted artist).

I wanted to contribute one tiny assist for people viewing his works: In the bottom right corner of this window is a "100%" - click it twice, so that it reads "150%" to really appreciate his creations.

That's all for now - back to your amazing list ...

Buckleysmom - Seeing people like your friend Jeff Steinberg and Nick Vujicic really makes you think. Not only are they "just getting by" they are helping others overcome their own adversities. Wonderful!

Women In Art by Eggman is currently one of the most viewed video clips online. The animation morphs its way through 500 years of female portraits in western art.

Eggman also created a Picasso video of the same nature.

Tip: Watch the videos in full screen mode by clicking the icon in the lower righthand corner of the player.

Neat little email that I received earlier this year:

After serious & cautious consideration.....your contract of friendship has been renewed for the New Year 2008!

It was a very hard decision to make. So try not to screw it up!!! LOL

My Wish for You in 2008

May peace break into your house and may thieves come to steal your debts. May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet of $100 bills. May love stick to your face like Vaseline and may laughter assault your lips! May your clothes smell of success like smoking tires and may happiness slap you across the face and may your tears be that of joy. May your problems forget your home address! In simple words ............

May 2008 be the best year of your life!!!

  18. Maizey, those are awesome, I especially love the Four corners one, it would make a cool screen saver, and the Nativity scene one would be great at Christmas time.

Don Marco was born in Northern Minnesota in the late 1920's. His interest in art was evident even before starting school. As a young adult in the Army Air Corp, he began his life's career in Air Traffic Control, which continued until his retirement from Honolulu International Airport in 1973. Much of his spare time was spent as a professional artist.

Before retirement, Don started developing a technique to create fine art using Crayola Crayons. Shortly after retiring he published his first print. Living in Southern California, his work was in demand including commissions from Burt Reynolds and a one-man show at his Dinner Theater in Florida.

    Maizey and other friends,
your posts show what people are able to achieve, even if their conditions seem not to be the best.
Now it is springtime in my part of the earth, and I must say, I am every year amazed over the awesome and inspiring things nature provides. Sorry for all of you allergic to pollen.

Regarding the injured eagle story, I had just sent that out to my email list several days ago and got the following email from one of our foster daughters. (Yes, we were in foster care for about 10 years when our kids were teens). Ginger had gone on to joining the US Navy, met her husband who is still in the Navy, and now she's got 2 teen-age daughters of her own.

    Hello

Sarvey is located in Arlington, Wa – just about 10 miles from where we live. It’s the next town over from our town, Marysville. A young college student I worked with a few summers ago was a volunteer there.

Graylox, I love the moth pictures and plants. I can't wait for spring weather here and to see green. Thank you.

Buckleysmom, that is a nicely choreographed performance. Neat illusions! Thanks.

copmom, you've had all kinds of activity in your home throughout the years. First it's your kids, pets and wild animal and now more kids! You are a special person. :)

It is a small world. That is quite a coincidence.

Canstruction® is the most unique food charity in the world!

A foundation of the Society for Design Administration (SDA), Canstruction® is a design/build competition currently held in cities throughout North America. Teams of architects, engineers, and students mentored by these professionals, compete to design and build giant structures made entirely from full cans of food.

The results are displayed to the public as magnificent sculpture exhibits in each city where a competition is held. At the close of the exhibitions all of the canned food used in the structures is donated to local food banks for distribution to emergency feeding programs that include pantries, soup kitchens, elderly and day care centers.

A digital clock called Flickr Time - The Moment, uses random images from Flickr to display the current time. You can optionally enter 2 tags to base your pictures on. Click on a number to change the image, double click it to view the full image. Nice!

RM, here's another Flickr toy that must use the same kind technology for gathering photos as ASTRONAUT: A FLICKR-GENERATED PROJECT
